Chapter 5

As I left angrily to do what Mr Anderson asked me to do, frustration coursed through my veins. I made my way to the hallway, and as I glanced back, I noticed that Mr Anderson's study door was left ajar. A mischievous thought crossed my mind, and I couldn't resist the temptation to take a peek inside. Pushing the door open I was greeted by a sight that left me in awe. The room was vast and filled with intriguing artifacts. My eyes landed on the framed picture of Mr Anderson's late wife and I couldn't help but notice the striking resemblance to Emily. It sent a chill down my spine.

Turning my attention to the other side of the room, I noticed shelves upon shelves of books. It surprised me to discover mr Anderson's passion for kinds of literature. Curiosity got the better of me, I reached out to grab a book, flipping through the pages before placing it back on the shelf. Just as I was about to leave, disaster struck the bookshelf and started to wobble precariously, threatening to collapse. Instinctively, I rushed to support with my hands, desperately trying to prevent the chaos that awaited.

Suddenly a bold voice pierced the air from behind causing my heart to skip a beat. It was Mr Anderson himself, his anger palpable. "what are you doing?" he demanded, his eyes filled with frustration. Caught off-guard, I turned to face him, still holding onto the shelves for dear life. "mr Anderson what are you doing here? "I asked, trying to regain composure. He took a step closer, his voice dripping with irritation. "this is my room, Chloe. I hate it when people touch my belongings, "he snapped, hitting his hand on the shelves to steady them. In that instant moment, a jay swooped down from above, hitting me on the head. The impact sent me reeling, everything fading to black as I lost consciousness.

As I slowly regained consciousness, I could hear Mr Anderson's voice echoing in the room. My eyelids fluttered open, but I quickly shut them again, pretending to still be in a state of unconsciousness. "she will be alright, Mr Anderson . Just let her rest, "the doctor assured him. "All alright, Mr. Anderson replied with a hint of concern in his voice. I will leave now. Call me if anything changes. "the doctor left the room leaving me alone with Mr Anderson. I could feel his presence beside me as he took a seat. "you can open your eyes now. The coast is clear, "he said softly, his tone filled with a mixture of curiosity and caution. My heart raced with anticipation as I slowly opened my eyes, meeting his gaze.

How did you know I was awakened? "I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. Ignoring my question, he leaned in closer, his eyes locked mine. "Chloe, is this how you faint?" he inquired, his voice laced with a touch of amusement. My mind raced, trying to comprehend the situation. "And do you kiss strangers too? "he added, his voice lingering in the air. My eyes widened in shock and confusion. "sir, I don't know what you are talking about, "I managed to utter, my voice trembling. I mustered the courage to sit up, but before I could make a move, he swiftly pinned me back to the bed, his grip form but yet gentle. The proximity between us sent shivers down my spine.

"did you think I wouldn't recognize you, Chloe? "he whispered, his breath warm against my skin. My heart skipped a beat as I realized that he had indeed recognized me. A mix of fear and uncertainty washed over me. Would he fire me? Desperately I struggled to free myself from his grasp, but the more I resisted, the tighter his hold became. In my panicked state, I accidentally collided with his head, the impact reverberating through my skull. A sharp pain shot through my head, overwhelming me, and everything faded into darkness.

As I slowly open my eyes, I feel a throbbing pain in my head. I instinctively reach up, holding my head and squinting as my vision remains blurred. With a gentle swipe of my palm across my eye, I manage to clear my vision enough to see my surroundings. I find myself back in my room, a mixture of relief and confusion washing over me. Realization hits me like a wave as I recall what happened earlier. A sense of regret floods through me as I berated myself for believing that Mr Anderson didn't recognize me. Worries consume my thoughts. What will he think of me now? Will he fire me for my foolishness? These questions swirl in my mind, adding to my anxiety. Glancing at the clock, I noticed it was already 2 am. Determined to find solace in my sleep, I try to force myself to rest, but my mind is too restless to find peace. Frustrated, I decided to go downstairs for a glass of water, hoping it would help calm my nerves. As I reach the kitchen I try to open the fridge. But it stubbornly refuses to budge. Frustration builds up inside me, and I summon all my strengths to open it. Just as I exert my force, a hand suddenly appears, preventing the fridge from hitting my head. Grateful, I murmur a quick" Thank you" without even turning to see who it is. When I finally turned around, my eyes met mr Anderson's gaze. Time seemed to stand still as we locked eyes. Our closeness creates an undeniable tension. My heart races, unsure of what this intense connection means. I can feel the warmth of his breath against my skin, sending shivers down my spine. At this moment, time seems to stand still, and my mind is filled with a whirlwind of thoughts. Should I break the silence? Will I regret not saying anything? Finally, summoning my courage, I take a deep breath and softly speak, "Thank you... for saving me." My voice trembles slightly, revealing my vulnerability. But instead of responding, Mr. Anderson's face remains stoic, almost arrogant. He doesn't say a word and simply turns away, leaving me standing there, puzzled and hurt.

As I walked back to my room, my mind was consumed by the incident that just unfolded I'm the kitchen. It plays like a loop in my head, each moment etched in my memory. I couldn't help but smile, a mixture of confusion and excitement dancing across my face. I couldn't understand why I was reacting this way, so I stood in front of the mirror, hoping for some answers. Looking at my reflection, I held my face, trying to make sense of the emotions swirling inside of me. Am I falling in love with Mr Anderson? "I question aloud, my voice filled with uncertainty. But then, I quickly dismissed the idea. How could I possibly fall for my boss? He is so arrogant and doesn't seem to care about me. I reminded myself or wasn't love, that it couldn't be. With a sigh, I decided to put the thought aside and went back to sleep
