Curious night out

It was at best the coldest day yet for them, the gang still decided to carry on with their late night plans. Sure on Cameron's part it was a bit difficult to sneak out of his house without his old team, but he still managed.

Cameron blew warm air into his palms as he walked ahead. "Speak about cold weather am I right?"

||Cameron looked stylish in his blue coat, baggy tracksuit pants, and grey soft boots. The outfit was a perfect mix of sophistication and comfort...

"Yeah... This is actually the coldest the weather in Middleton has ever been."

"You're lying."

"Of course I am." Ruby laughed. "Middleton is one of the many places that experience what we would like to refer to as the normal turn of weather."

"That's like the winter, summer stuff am I right?"

"Not exactly, but you're on point with that."

"I'm getting smarter Ruby."

"Speaking about getting smarter- Katherine nowadays has shown way more knowledge than recent times."

"Oh I get that a bit. I mean she's smart, but recently she's become smarter than that."

"Things are really changing aren't they." Ruby acknowledged. "You and I hanging out was a common thing, but now it's super rare. I guess highschool really does change you."

"Yeah and you know the thing is that it's not even us only that's hanging out anymore."

[ Moments Later ]

Cameron and Ruby arrived at the pavement where their friends were waiting. Maddie waved at them and called out, "Hey guys, over here!"

Ruby grinned and walked over, "Sorry we're late, took us a bit to get through the traffic."

Abbie laughed, "It's all good, we're still waiting on Henry anyways."

Rain sighed, "Why does he always take so long?"

Léla chimed in, "He probably can't decide what shoes to wear."

Cameron rolled his eyes, "Nah, he's probably playing video games or something."

Rose shook her head, "No, he's always like this. Remember when we had to wait an hour for him while he picked out a shirt?"

Addie giggled, "Yeah, and then he changed his mind and went with a different one."

Maddie groaned, "I swear, he's worse than any of us girls when it comes to getting ready."

Maddie picked up a small stone and tossed it up in the air before catching it again. She looked over at Henry's house and grinned. "Hey guys, want to see something funny that you should not tell my brother about?"

The group turned to look at her curiously. "What?" Ruby asked.

Maddie grinned mischievously, "Watch this." With that, she hurled the stone at Henry's window, causing an audible crack.

Henry immediately heard the sound from inside his house and rushed to the window to see who had thrown the stone. As he looked out, he spotted Maddie and the rest of the group. He realized that they were probably waiting for him, and he quickly grabbed his phone to text Ruby.

Just then, Ruby's phone beeped. She checked it and burst out laughing. "Guys, Henry just texted me saying he's busy with his hair."

The group erupted into laughter and started making fun of Henry. Suddenly, they noticed a notification on Ruby's phone and pressed it.

A news reporter was frantically speaking about an alien landing between their town of Middleton and the city of Straton.

Rain's eyes widened, "What in the world?"

Léla nervously said, "This doesn't sound good."

Maddie added, "I wonder how the Peacemakers will handle this."

"Who are the Peacemakers?" Cameron scratched his head obviously lying.

Abbie rolled her eyes, "So you don't know no who the most famous superhero organisation in the world are."

"It was just a joke," Cameron shrugged.

Addie chimed in, "I'm sure MegaHit will take care of it."

"MegaHit? Who's that?" Léla asked, confused.

Cameron proudly exclaimed, "He's my hero! The coolest superhero ever, he's got like these cool super armours that he wears and uses to fight bad guys!"

The group looked at Cameron, wondering if he was joking.

Rain jested, "Sounds like someone made him up."

Cameron's face fell, "No, seriously, he's real! He's saved the city of Straton like a hundred times."

Ruby smiled, "We're kidding Cam, it was just a joke."

Just then, Henry walked out of his house, adjusting his tie. "What's up, guys?"

Cameron nudged him, "Took you long enough, man. Ready to go?"

Rose:

Rose is a strikingly beautiful African American with warm brown skin, a round face, and a full head of curly black hair, which frames her delicate features perfectly.

Henry:

Henry is a tall and lean male with long, flowing blonde hair that cascades down his back in a shimmering wave. His cute blacm eyes are framed by thick blonde eyebrows.

Rain:

Rain is Rose's identical twin sister and shares many of her sibling's features. Her cocoa brown skin is just as rich, and her eyes are the same shade of honeyed brown. However, Rain's curly black hair is styled short, with a slightly edgy, punk rock vibe.

[ Moments Later ]

The nine teens were now together and started their midnight stroll through the town of Middleton which was looking very different due to the broken structures and damages caused by the infamous Cult takeover.

After a nice stroll around the neighborhood the six decided to make their way to the nearest market which was a bit further away from the area they are most familiar with, but they still took the journey.

Ruby blew warm hair into her palms. "Man... am I the only one who believes that- shit feels different now, after that entire cult thing."

"For real." Rose agreed. "Mutants are like almost everywhere now in Middleton like running around and doing their own stuff."

"Normally they would be hiding or something, but now their more open about their powers." Rain acknowledged.

"It's also a bad thing for them in a way. The mutant kids at school like most of them stopped attending school because people would talk shit about them." Henry noted.

"And some mutants at school have been more open with themselves." Léla added, clearly refering to someone she knew.

Addie decided to chime in, "I think the cult thing changed everything, more people are caring towards mutants, you guys should have seen that news report about this coach from this one school who literally manipulated a mutant child."

"We've all seen it, our school was part of the news remember, and I was there." Abbie said to her brother.

[ Inside the store Cameron and Maddie were checking out what to buy ]

"What do you think of this?" Maddie showed off a purple grape can. "Looks good right?"

"I can't see it from here-" Cameron was cut off by Maddie who threw the can toward him, he luckily caught it though. "-warning next time."

"Fuck warnings, it would've been crap if I just gave the the thing to you."

"No, I think it would've been way cooler."

"Wow. You have become such a nerd nowadays." Maddie revealed.

"Nerd? Me? What do you mean?"

"Come on. You use to be such a badass in middle school, getting in trouble was like a game for you and I kinda fucked with that shit."

"What? Am I less unlikable now?" Cameron raised a question.

"Nah it's not that it's just the way you were then just made m- you know it leave it, the point is you're still you and you're still that goat that I liked deep down somewhere."

Cameron popped open the can and drank the grape juice.

"Dude did you even pay for that?"

"Nah." Cameron shrugged. "Getting in trouble is just a game for me, I'm just that goat."

A small smile made its way onto Maddie's face. "Sweet... but you're gonna have to pay for that because I'm definitely not."

"Don't worry about it. Who's gonna know? Léla?"

"True, she's not here."

"Yeah... don't tell her though, she's gonna freak and definitely don't tell Ruby."

"I ain't no snitch."

Maddie and Cameron got the needed snacks and made their way to the cashier ready to pay for the things they bought. Cameron noticed Maddie place an extra cash of money on the counter.

"I thou-"

The lights suddenly started flickering on and off as a shot of electricity shot from out one of the lightbulbs. The door glitched between open and close before finally deciding on closed. The cashier took a step back while a shadow loomed over both Cameron and Maddie.

The two turned too meet eyes with a blue amphibian alien. Maddie thought smart and threw one of the cans into the face of the alien giving the two enough time to sprint somewhere safe. Maddie went into the bathroom stalls while Cameron hid in one of the isles.

"What the hell is that thing?" Cameron asked himself as electricity sparked around the store. "Doesn't matter anyway."

Cameron vomited out his bones and collapsed in a green bubbling puddle. The puddle he was inside shaked as he transformed into a tentacled, alien creature with glowing green eyes.

A strong green light shined throughout the store; KillerSlugg pulled out from behind one of the isles and tackled into the alien.

"Sorry to tell you, but this area is restricted buddy."

KillerSlugg started throwing himself at the alien hoping to get on a perfect wrap which would help constrict the alien, but the amphibian was far too battle ready to be touched by messily attacks.

The idea was clearly failing and KillerSlugg knew the alien would strike onto the offensive at some point so he prepped himself to dodge which was at this point his man way of fighting. The amphibian alien used its tentacles to catch the slug alien out with its dodging strategy.

With his best chance of combat done and dealt with KillerSlugg moved over to a more hungry style of fighting and started moving forward aggressively. This style worked for a small while because KillerSlugg was able to get a hold onto the alien before being electrocuted off.

The alien strapped his two ears around the body of the Amphibian alien and threw him into one of the lights before he sparked off his electricity and then moved in with a headbutt that coursed the light to explode behind the amphibian alien.

The smoke cloud slowly disappeared and KillerSlugg melted underneath the backdoor and waited until he timed out before running to the front of the store.

"There you guys are!" Cameron exclaimed. "Did you see what happened in there?"

"We couldn't see much, but it lasted long, we tried calling for help, but our phones malfunctioned and turned off." Ruby revealed

"I wonder what that was about." Rose said.

"Whatever it was. It played out to be a good enough distraction for me to get us some free snacks." Maddie showed the group a plastic filled with snacks.

After the altercation the group found a nice back alleyway and sat together and started eating the snacks they retrieved.

Rain yawned and leaned back against the wall behind her. "Man, shopping always makes me exhausted."

Abbie laughed and took a bite of her chip. "Same here, but it was worth it. Well not really worth it since we got attacked, or the shop got attacked- you know what I'm just happy we're all okay."

Maddie nodded and sipped her soda. "I still can't believe we convinced Cameron to come with us."

Cameron shrugged and grinned. "Hey, I'm always down for some fun, I'm not a buzzkill."

Léla poked him in the ribs and teased, "Don't pretend like you're someone who loves going out, especially with the amount of dates you cancelled."

Cameron rolled his eyes playfully. "Okay, okay, but I had valid excuses."

"What's your excuse for not wanting to attend the concert professor boring?" Maddie questioned.

"It messes with my schedule, I have like a roadtrip thingy planned around that time and I'm not much a concert guy anymore."

"Please don't remind me." Ruby said shivering a bit as she remembered her most recent concert experience.

"He says that now, until I catch him at his house watching Megahit."

"Hey, he's a cool superhero." Cameron defended his favourite hero. "You guys may praise the alien heroes, but Megahit is a goat compared to them."

Addie chimed in, "MegaHit is awesome, anyway, I bet Henry's excited about the concert. Isn't that right, Henry?"

The group turned to look at Henry, who was busy scrolling through his phone. He looked up and furrowed his brow. "Huh? What's up?"

Rose giggled and nudged him. "We were just talking about how excited you must be for the concert next weekend."

Henry smiled wryly. "Yeah, of course. I can't wait to stand around for hours while you guys scream your lungs out."

Ruby chuckled and tossed him a piece of candy. "Don't be such a buzzkill, Henry."

Rain stretched her arms and glanced at her phone. "Oh shoot, it's already 9:30. We should probably start heading back before it gets too late."

The others murmured in agreement and began gathering their belongings.

[ Moments Later ]

Their little late night stroll came to an end since it was now sunrise and they didn't want to arrive home when the sun was completely out it just didn't sit right with any of them.

The group broke off and it was now just Cameron and Ruby walking alongside one another which is similar to the way the night started.

"What a fun night or morning."

"Kinda a mix of both... it sucks Abbie and Léla couldn't join us out today."

"Léla is kinda cool with it." Cameron told Ruby while chatting with Léla.

"Of course she would be cool with it, Léla is just nice like that."

"The best." Cameron added still typing.

"How's your relationship going?"

"Great. I mean- Nah I'm joking it's great."

"Cool, cool, cool. You want to- I mean you- no- are you as tired as I am right now?"

"A bit, but I manage."

"Y-"

The amphibian alien swooped in and grabbed Ruby and then tried shooting Cameron down with a bolt of lightning, but it missed.

"You have to be kidding me!"

The alien jolted forward into the sky which made Cameron start up the omnitrix and after a small scan of the area he transformed with a bright green flash shining through.

As the Omnitrix transformed him, Cameron's arms became crab claws while his head grew bigger and he crackled with dangerous electricity. The alien Static-Brain emerged, with a massive brain and control over lightning.

[ A time skip later ]

As the alien zapped through the city, Ruby struggling to escape his clutches, Static-Brain appeared from behind a building, electricity crackling around him. With a wave of his hand, he sent a bolt of lightning sizzling through the air, but the alien evaded it with ease.

Static-Brain's brain pulsed as he calculated his next move.

"As a seasoned hero, I must admit that pitting two electric aliens against each other was not the wisest of decisions. I must make a mental note to be more mindful of my alien selections and check the Omnitrix display before every transformation. This mistake must not be repeated." said Static-Brain, acknowledging his error.

He needed to act fast before the electric alien harmed Ruby. He generated an electric shield around himself and charged forward, determined to rescue the girl.

The alien shot a blast of electricity towards Static-Brain, but he dodged. With a surge of power, he hurled a lightning bolt at the electric alien, striking him in the chest.

"Excellent maneuver!" exclaimed Static-Brain, analyzing the situation carefully and utilizing it to his advantage. "Dodging your attack granted me ample time to calculate the precise coordinates required to launch the perfect counterattack. It was inevitable that you would not be able to evade it. My superior intellect and strategic thinking once again prove to be indispensable in defeating my opponents." He then celebrated his victory with a confident laugh.

As the alien stumbled back, Static-Brain leapt into action, grabbing Ruby and pulling her to safety. But the fight wasn't over yet. The electric regained his footing and blasted Static-Brain with another bolt of lightning.

Static-Brain's body surged with power as he absorbed the energy, but he didn't falter.

A chopper came flying forward and rammed straight into the amphibian alien. A bunch of Peacemaker men had jumped out of the helicopter before it crashed into the alien.

When the explosion cleared the men had the amphibian alien surrounded with a bunch of weapons.

"Great job there." The main peacemaker acknowledged. "We appreciate the effort and we will make sure to tell our higher ups about you."

"I'm not sure I fully appreciate your efforts, as I didn't actually need your assistance. I was already expertly handling the situation with ease," Spoke Static-Brain with no semblance of gratitude. "In fact, it could be argued that you should be thanking me, for I was executing your role with exceptional proficiency. Perhaps next time, you could consider observing and learning from my superior techniques."

"Really?" The man looked down at the omnitrix that started flashing between green and white. "Oh! Okay I see what's going on here. Well either way you did a great job, but you still shouldn't be throwi- you know what the majestor will speak with you in the future. Anyway thank you."

"Disrespectful."
