Grandfather

'Ugh'

5 year old Lark groaned, as he uneasily opens his eyes.

'What happened?'

The boy pondered the reason he was staying in his own bed, his mind blurry and finally started clearing itself.

'Bang~'

'Crash~'

The door to his room flew and crashed to the wall just near his head, dust and rubbles flying into his face.

'Cough cough'

"If you're thinking why your parents is not here, and instead, came an old man who you could wrestle till his bones break"

"That's 'cuz I'll be taking over your lessons"

This old man's sense of reasoning sucks, Lark thought to himself.

But after remembering the cause as to why he was in his own bed, was already in front of him.

"Now come!"

"Ahh!"

"Hah! you squeal like a little girl!"

"But fear not! I'll whip you to shape in no time, average child"

The old man grabbed the boy's shin, making the latter's world turning upside down.

"I heard from your wimpy dad that you wished to become like me!?"

"Heh! you should have said that in the beginning!"

"Though you may be a common naive child you see everyday, but after seeing you clearly...."

The old man used his hand to lift the boy's body and soon, they were face to face.

"You really are NOTHING! HAHAHAHA!"

As I thought so, this old man is a dog's poop, it comes out from a black hole, and destroys someone else's mood.

'Gah!'

The child kicked the man's chin making the latter stumble upon his feet and finally freeing Lark.

"You good for noth-"

The man, after recovering his posture, tried to grab Lark, but was already soon found running in the corridors.

"HAH! Your breath stinks, old man!"

"This little fucker!"

"Why are you running?"

And so after painstakingly enduring his hurting back while chasing his grandson, Garrete finally grabbed the child's nape who tried to roll between his legs after being cornered.

"Hahahah! I know this house, like my house, you foolish child!"

"You really are going senile, eh?"

"I may be old, but I'm still bold"

"And now his speaking nonsense"

Is catching children your job now eh?

The old man, after catching Lark was now self admiring, as he flexed his muscles, drowning himself from his own flashbacks.

"You and me will be best buddies from now on, hehehehe?"

"We'll be having a good time getting to know each other"

Soon Lark found himself training in hell.

But it wasn't really that bad, although except for the childish insults from time to time and my aching body, reading boring books whilst listening to an old man with a voice of a mosquito lecturing, the former is much better.

The Old man taught me how basics of handling the sword, and focusing only to my cardio, he never once said to train my body, and so I asked him why.

"Huh?! with that kind of body? it would be a miracle if you could carry a boulder your current size if you've grown old, so why waste time on your strength, having a good body and stamina is already enough in a war, for now let's focus on your flexibility and agility"

That's right, my body frame was small and even after the hell training throughout the 13 years, the only thing I managed to have is a six pack abs and a toned biceps and triceps, I never managed to reach 5'8 as for my grandfather whose height reached 6'4 and the stature of a huge bear, I was something he couldn't see if he was in front of me.

Now that I'm 18, the old man finally said the words I wanted to hear.

"A major war has broken out between the kingdom and the factions"

"And the King has made a calling for his generals and known heroes to gather"

"So this will be your last training and probably the hardest"

"So am I going with you?"

"That's right"

"YES!"

At night, after hearing that my grandfather was taking me to war, my parents easily agreed, probably because they didn't need a talentless and a hero loving freak of a child, afterall they have my genius brother, so what more do they need for the family to last?

I'm probably just nothing but a shame to the family, I don't have the brains of my brother neither the strength of my grandfather, I wasn't really well recieved in the house.
