Chapter 27: Helemoira

A week later, I was in the market with Pelleas, buying meat from the butcher for the temple. Pelleas did not let me go anywhere alone, and while part of me disliked his hovering, I enjoyed his company.

Before all of this, we had never spent more than an evening or a night together, and those were few and far between. Now he was glued to me like my shadow, haunting my every step.

"You know I could easily hunt for game for the temple, you don't have to buy it."

"Yes, the thought did occur to me. But, I like supporting the shops, they give me a good deal occasionally as well. Though..." I gave him a playful smile, or tried. "I wouldn't mind seeing you wield that bow of yours."

He smirked back at me, a light in his eyes that I was getting used to seeing. "Perhaps I could pose for you with it tonight."

"Hush," I hissed, a laugh on my lips. "What if someone heard you?"
