Chapter 24: Pelleas

Helemoira and I happened upon Amelina in the gardens just outside of the temple where she knelt gathering herbs. When she saw us, she nearly fell onto her rear in her eagerness to rush to us.

"Where in the Three Heavens have you been?" She dusted off her hands and ran to Helemoira's side, eyeing me carefully. "Did you come from Adhmad Dé?"

I nodded and the creases between Amelina's brows deepened. Helemoira stood still as she fussed over her, unblinking as she held her face and stared at her.

"What happened to her?" The younger fae looked at me, judgment etched into her soft features.

I sighed, unsure myself what exactly had happened. The more I had thought about it on our travels, the more unfathomable it seemed.

"Geien is gone," Helemoira spoke softly. "He was taken."

"Perhaps we should get inside." I looked around cautiously as I approached the females and motioned for them to head back towards the temple.

"You cannot enter," Amelina said with a hint of annoyance.
