A New Gamer

This is a story that my friend and I are writing together, he is the one that is updating it on Wattpad while I am publishing here on this website. Updates may be more frequent on my friend's side, but that is yet to be certain. I'll try to update the book at the same pace as my friend, his name is TrueRisingFTW.

"What...?"

Yukio was as confused as he could ever be, and his reasons for why were very much justified. From what he could see, he was located in some kind of strange forest. The reason for his confusion was why and how he was in this place. He remembered being on his death bed, yet here he was.

Very much alive and kicking.

The fact that he was nowhere near a forest when he died just made it all the stranger. Did someone pick him up and drag him here? Not likely. And that wouldn't explain why he was alive, that just didn't make any damn sense. He should definitely be on a trip to the afterlife right now. Unless this was the afterlife...

If that was the case...

Then DAMN, this place sucked ass. He was not at all thrilled to be spending the rest of his unending days in a forest after death, that would suck total ass. Aside from that though, Yukio here was a male appearing to be around sixteen with slightly pale skin, along with smooth black-brownish hair.

He had a pair of purple eyes that sported a pink and also yellow gradient, and also had on what looked to be a thin black mask over his face. His clothes consisted of a tight black t-shirt underneath a white long-sleeved hooded leather jacket, his arms free as the jacket hung over his shoulders. He also had on sleek long black pants and metallic white tall combat boots with black soles. He had an interesting attire, to say the least.

As you have probably already found out, this young man was Yukio. Full name being Kogasaka Yukio. The same person who was had now found himself in this forest.

Though, the explanation he may want seems to be making itself known as he noticed a strange note sticking out of his pocket. He only noticed it due to having accidentally brushed his hand along its edge as he started walking. So, he curiously picked it out.

"What's this?"

〖Greetings, Mr Yukio〗

〖Unfortunately, you have met yourself with a rather unfortunate demise. That was entirely on me, so I sincerely apologize for the circumstances that have befallen you〗

〖Now, I know you are confused. You should be dead, but you are not. Allow me to explain. I have decided to give you another chance since you died far too early compared to your decided time of death〗

〖You may be wondering where you are. You are actually no longer in your world, but in an entirely different one in a separate plane of existence. A hard pill to swallow, I can understand〗

〖This world is also rather dangerous. Well, for you as of right now at least. Do not worry though, I have provided you with a little gift that you shall soon come to see. Also, you will find a place called Orario if you continue along the path. I wish you the best of luck from now on〗

〖Aside from that, I hope you can forgive me〗

〖Sincerely, GOD〗

Yukio just stared blankly at the piece of paper in his hands as he tried to process everything he had just read, and it was difficult. Basically, God had given him a second chance at life after a mistake on their part, and had yeeted him into a world that was apparently dangerous...

Yep, his life was crazy...

Yukio could only sigh as he shook his head out of the stupor that he had just gone through. If he wasn't as open-minded to supernatural things, he might have just had a mental breakdown. Though, he was definitely grateful for God for giving him another chance. He was only sixteen, so he didn't want it to all end just yet.

He would be lying if he said that he wasn't worried about his friends and family back home, quite the opposite really. Were they said about his disappearance? How were they doing right now? He wasn't sure, and he doubted he would be finding out any time soon.

Shaking his head, he refocused as he needed to focus on his current situation. What did God mean by this world was dangerous for him?

And what gift was God talking about?

『System Booting Up. Please Standby』

"Huh...?" Yukio blinked in surprise as he looked at the words that suddenly appeared in front of his face like some kind of holographic projection. The voice that read out the words sounded like a robotic male and female mix, holding no emotion at all as it spoke.

"What is this...?" Yukio frowned as he looked at the icon of a loading screen. "Is this what God was talking about?" Yukio didn't have to wait long before the voice spoke up once again as more words appeared to him.

『System Online』

『Welcome, Gamer』

"Gamer...?" Yukio repeated as he heard this. He was honestly confused, why did this robotic voice refer to him a such? At least he assumed it was addressing him.

『You have been chosen by a higher power and have been granted the powers of The Gamer. We wish you the best of luck』

"Wait... as in from those fanfics?"

Yukio muttered as he heard this announcement. He had heard of The Gamer from a number of fan fictions he liked to read in his spare time. Essentially, it was an idea of how the character pretty much lives the life that of a game character. Your life pretty much becomes a game.

He had read a number where the characters can either become realistically powerful for their worlds, or just damn right overpowered. And... was he really one of them now? Don't mistake, he was more than happy if that was the case. It was just really hard to believe...

He soon widened his eyes though when another menu popped up in front of him. It was a simple one with a few options on it.

[]———————————————————[]

『Status』 『Inventory』 『Quests』 『Abilities』『Perks』

[]———————————————————[]

Looking at the screen, he narrowed his eyes slightly as he could easily recognize and identify which each one most likely meant. Status was pretty damn self-explanatory, same with inventory and quests. Abilities were obvious as well, though perks may need some kind of clarification.

Looking at the screen for a second, he then decided to click onto [Status] as that was the first option. Probably best to check that first. When he did, he rose his eyebrows in surprise when a rather large list of information appeared to him.

[]———————————————————[]

.

Head: None

Chest: None

Legs: None

Accessories: None

[]———————————————————[]

Yukio read over the information that he was provided as he held his chin in thought, a lot of it was pretty simple. Similar to that of an RPG. The one with his balance being capable of being converted into any kind of cash was very interesting. Though, he wasn't sure if 30,000 was a lot or not. He quickly pressed onto the (i) icon as it seemed that he could get some clarification on what each of the attributes were about in greater detail.

[]———————————————————[]

● Strength: The physical prowess that one holds. The more points allocated into this, the stronger they physically become

● Agility: The speed at which one can move. The more points allocated into this, the faster one can react as well as overall move around

● Vitality: The physical and magical defense one has. The more points allocated into this, the less damage one takes from both physical and magical attacks

● Magic: One's ability to utilize magic. The more points allocated into this, the greater ones magical reserves become, allowing for stronger spells to be casted

● Intellect: The intellectual capability one holds. The more points allocated into this, the more spells and skills one can learn. Specific items and such require a certain level of intelligence to learn

[]———————————————————[]

Reading through the information, Yukio nodded his head in understanding as most of it was very easy to understand. He was interested mostly in the past two though. Magic was something from fantasy and didn't really exist, but it seems he'll be able to utilize it thanks to being a Gamer now.

He may not be able to use magic right now, but it seems that it is a high possibility that he will be capable of doing so in the future. "Alright, let's check the others out..."

Yukio then switched back to the original menu before checking the other out. He tried to look at Quests, though nothing came up, he wasn't surprised. He probably just hadn't been given on just yet. Anyway, he then decided to check out Perks.

[]———————————————————[]

『Perks』

● Gamer's Body: The user does not require food or water to survive, though they can consume them if they so wish. The user also restores health and mana after having slept, the longer the better『Rank: 1/1』

● Gamer's Mind: The user is unaffected by any kind of interference that affects the user's mental state in any form. The user also will remain calm no matter what situation they are in 『Rank: 1/1』

● Observe: The user can see the stats of another living being, such as their name, health, mana, stats, and more. However, beings more than fifty levels higher than the user cannot be read 『Rank: 1/1』

● Dimensional Travel: This allows the user to create a portal that will bring the user to a new random world. Worlds that have already been visited can be selected manually and returned to. The skill can only be used when certain conditions have been met in the world the user is currently in 『Rank: 1/1』

[]———————————————————[]

Yukio widened his eyes in surprise at these. He wasn't as surprised with the first two, they were common ones in Gamer fics. The last one, however, was interesting. It seems that he could go to different worlds aside from the one he was in right now.

He could maybe even find himself in a world like One Piece or something, though the fact that if he chooses to go to a random world, it will be RANDOM. He could be yeeted off to a world that is totally beyond his power at the time he does so, and that would be bad news bears for him.

Though, aside from that. He was curious as to what it means by certain conditions, it didn't exactly state anything specific on what they were for this world.

Meh. He'll figure it out at some point.

Onto the next screen, he decided to check out Inventory as there was nothing in the Abilities section. He was a blank canvas in that regard right now. When he opened up the Inventory, he was honestly surprised to see that there was actually stuff in there. He expected it to be empty.

[]———————————————————[]

『Inventory』

● Roulette Power Wheel: A single-use roulette wheel that grants the user with a random ability. Can range from something useless to absolutely overpowered『Amount: 1』

● Roulette Weapon Wheel: A single-use roulette where that grants the user with a random weapon. Can range from swords, spears, axes, and more 『Amount: 1』

[]———————————————————[]

"Kind of like a starter kit..." Yukio smiled as he read the basic descriptions of the two roulette wheels within his inventory. This was probably so that he could have a way of defending himself, and that was good as he wasn't sure if his current status was any good.

True, he trained himself quite a lot to keep physically fit, though he was still human. Who knows what was in this world? Anyway, quickly getting to it, he decided to check out the weapon wheel first. Mainly because he didn't have mana right now, so he doubted he would be able to use any of the powers yet.

So, just in case he gets attacked any second now, he'll get the weapon first as a sure way of gaining a form of defense for himself. When he clicked on it, a vertical wheel appeared in front of him, which he blinked at before using his hand and manually spinning it.

He watched as the wheel spun at fast speeds, to which it slowly began to slow itself down. The different words rushing past on it as it did so.

『You have received Chain Blade』

[]———————————————————[]

『Chain Blade』

● A western sleek sword composed of a powerful metal far stronger than even the likes of titanium. The blade includes a functioning chain-saw-like blade.

[]———————————————————[]

Yukio widened his eyes before quickly opening his inventory, which he saw the blade there as he tapped onto it.

"Woah..." Yukio muttered as the blade soon materialised in his hand. Yukio looking at it with fascination and awe. True to the description he was given, it was a sleek western sword with a sharp silver angelic-winged cross guard and a golden handle.

The blade itself appeared to be purely white, a beautiful metal that reflected the sun light that struck onto its body. However, the most intriguing part were the sharp 'teeth' along the edges of the blade, making it appear like a chainsaw.

"So, how does this wor- woah!" Yukio surprised himself when he accidentally pressed something, causing the blade to start rapidly spinning in a fashion just like a chainsaw. "Okay, this is pretty sick..."

The sword that he held was pretty much a far easier to handle chainsaw, and it was a one-handed sword as well, making that much easier to swing. With the whole chainsaw-like features, the danger levels of this blade only double. All he needed to do was press a button and then VVVRRRRRRRR!

The weight of the blade was also very nice as it wasn't too light and not too heavy, pretty much perfect in his opinion. And it felt comfortable in his hand as well.

"Okay, okay. That's enough for now." Yukio smirked as he dismissed the blade back into his inventory. He already knew using it was going to be fun.

Gruesome, but fun.

"Now, what about powers..." Yukio wondered as he brought up the next roulette wheel before quickly spinning it. As the wheel was spinning, he pondered about what he'll get. If he was honest, he would want something versatile other than just powerful.

If the power he got was helpful in more than just dealing damage, then he'd want that. He didn't want to be a one-trick pony. If the power he gets turns out to be both versatile as well as powerful, then that's all the damn better. He wouldn't complain, not at all.

『You have received Sky Dragon Slayer Magic』

[]———————————————————[]

『Sky Dragon Slayer Magic』

● Wield the power of the sky dragons! The power to manipulate the winds as well as having the ability to strike fear into dragon kind!

[]———————————————————[]

"Heck yes!" Yukio grinned as he looked at the result that had just been displayed. This was definitely something he wouldn't complain about. This was a magic from Fairy Tail, and was a branch of the Dragon Slayer Magic line. As the name suggests, is used for killing dragons.

This magic had many advantages, such as regenerating mana by consuming the user's respective element. And this one was amazing as you can find wind and air literally everywhere you go on the planet, so he pretty much had a limitless source of magic.

To add a bonus to that, Sky Dragon Slayers have the ability to apply enhancements to allies and themselves as well as healing others. Unfortunately, though, it would seem that Sky Dragon Slayers are particularly unable to heal themselves. That was a letdown... Though, at least a lot of the other benefits sure do make up for it!

"Oh God, my head..."!" Yukio scrunched his face slightly in pain as he felt a massive rush of information suddenly invade his mind. It would seem that he was forcefully given the knowledge of how to use the abilities of the magic, which was good as he didn't have a sky dragon around to teach his ass.

Perks of being a Gamer.

Though, he can't exactly use any of the spells just yet since he had absolutely no magic power in his body. He would need to fix that. As he was shaking off the pain from the sudden rush of information, a dinging sound was heard as Yukio glanced at the screen in confusion.

[]———————————————————[]

『New Quest』

Title: To New Land

● Objective 1: Make your way to the city of Orario

● Objective 2: Enter the dungeon

● Objective 3: Get to level 10

『Rewards』

● 20,000 Currency

● Roulette Item Wheel x1

● Random Skill Book

[]———————————————————[]

"Hoh~? A quest..." Yukio muttered in a bit of surprise as he read over the information. He wasn't sure exactly what world he was in, but it kind of sounded familiar. "Orario? Where have I heard that...?"

He did remember reading on the note that God said he'd get to Orario if he followed the path, so there was that. But, he could swear that he recognized that name from somewhere. Well, he'd probably have an easier time figuring it out once he gets there.

This whole dungeon thing will probably also help in helping him figure out just what kind of world it was that he found himself in.
