CHAPTER 69

I've been traveling north for three days, but I couldn't find any one of the animals I wanted. As I went further north, I started to approach wildlings many times, but each time I changed direction and stayed away from them. After all, this side is their land since killing people trying to survive would be cruel, so I try to stay away from them if possible and not shed blood in vain.

This side is really barren lands of ice and howling wind. There are animals in the forests, but it's no wonder that very few wildlings come to the south raid all the time; how can we expect humans to live when even animals don't want to live here?

But there is one plus here since the ley lines do not feed a colossal structure like The Wall. The mana density of this side is at least three times that of the other side. But even that is too little for me. This side's mana density should be about 6 or 7 times. Maybe the disappearance of the magic affected this side as well, or there is a colossal mana-supplied structure on this side as well. In one of Old Nan's stories, she talked about something called Heart of Winter. Magic and dragons are real; maybe there is some truth in the other stories too.

Thanks to a murder of 60 ravens, I can scout an area of 2-3 km without using Promodynes ( locate animals ). In this way, I can use the locating spell for the animals I am looking for.

For me, running through a snow-covered forest was no different than running on a straight road. so I ran like the wind through trees and bushes without slowing down.

From what I read about them in the bestiaries, they are fearsome predators. Shadowcats have deep, rumbling growls and furious screams. They are silent and agile hunters, but they can scavenge, too that is why they can smell blood ten km (six miles) away. When they catch prey, they will eat every piece of meat without leaving anything behind and even crush all the bones to get at the marrow. Shadowcats tend not to attack living men unless starved, but if they attack, they can disembowel a man with one claw strike.

It was almost nighttime, and the shadowcat's eyes seemed to glow in the dark. It noticed my presence, stopped eating, and immediately turned to me and took up an attacking position. Deep, rumbling growls started coming from it, and suddenly let out a deafening scream, then immediately started running towards me.

"Letagon (snare)"

it froze in place like a statue. This spell should hold it for several seconds. But after 2 seconds, the spell broke, and the shadowcat lunged at me. I was caught off guard, and all I could do was roll sideways. It was like cold water was pouring down my back at that second. Its claw slashed my cheek if I had moved a little slower. My head wouldn't be on my shoulder right now. Shadowcat continued running without delay and jumped at the tree right in front of it, then bounced off the tree and lunged at me again.

I was calm this time and didn't want to kill it, so I couldn't use deadly spells. I decided to use wind element spells. Raised my hand and said.
