Why?

The mom opened the door, and we stepped inside. The house was in a similar style as my bedroom. The place had this atmosphere that brought you into a good mood.

Upon further inspection, I noticed that all of the furniture seemed shoddily made. All of the shelves were empty, and there were noticeable patches that had lack of wear.

"Sorry about the mess, it's usually a bit nicer than this."

The mom said as she locked the door.

I nodded.

"Makes sense, we are leaving in a few days."

The mom turned towards the stairs and paused before continuing in low voice.

"Ah, Thread..."

'Her name was Thread! Wait.'

I turned to look at her with a worried expression.

"Did something happen?"

She looks at me in disbelief and slowly says.

"The thing from this morning... with you."

"She was worried about me?"

I said in surprise, with my voice finally showing some emotion. I turn to look at the stairs.

"I should probably let her know I'm fine."

"No!"

The mom raises her voice in disbelief.

"She's upset because of what you said to her!"

"About the history of the Doctor's office? I know I didn't react like how-"

"No! No, just..."

She pinched the bridge of her nose with one gloved hand.

"The thing at the end where you said it was all her fault."

"THAT!?"

I yelled in disbelief and gave her a look for several seconds before realizing what I did wrong.

'I went ahead and told the person who's been trying her hardest to make me feel welcome that it was all her fault. The child who literally passed out in front of her and fought with the determination of twelve hundred idiotic bandits to tell her that specific message.'

"Oh," I said in a long drawn out way. "oh, oh. Oh no."

'F**k.'

"I need to go apologize." I instantly started moving towards the stairs.

"Wait!"

The mom stepped in front of me before I rushed off.

"This isn't something you can apologize for."

"Why not?"

I asked with a slight panic in my voice.

"You just can't"

The mom said as she looked nervously at me and started walking upstairs.

"But why?!"

I asked in a louder voice.

She moved faster with the intent of getting there before me.

"But WHY!?"

I yelled one last time before she disappeared.

I quietly went over to the table where we ate breakfast and plopped my bag on it. I then climbed onto a chair and slammed my face onto the table in shame.

"I hate it when people do that."

After a few seconds of hating my life, I decided to get to work.

I grabbed all of the stuff I needed one by one and arranged them how I like it.

"Oh right."

I said sullenly as I remembered the last ingredient.

I took a deep breath then exhaled.

I positioned my head slightly above the table and moved my hair onto it.

"Alright, ready."

And I started banging my head like I was at a metal concert.
