The Genetic Report

Marlone was silent, but Laiden wasn't ready to let the show end just yet. He smiled and said to the other four, "Arix's genetic report is out. Shouldn't we take a look before we debate which military school she should attend? What if she's one of our Lasairs..."

Before Laiden could finish, Solis cut him off, "She's more likely from my family. Everyone knows my younger brother is a playboy, with illegitimate children lining up at our door for paternity tests, so the chances are higher that Arix is a Calix."

Usually, the Calix family kept such scandals tightly under wraps. Now, for Arix, Solis was willing to bring it all up—a significant sacrifice indeed.

The other four hadn't expected that family scandals could be useful at this moment. Even the usually eloquent Laiden was at a loss for words.

"I actually think Arix looks more like someone from my family, a Brant. After all, her talent with chemistry is there for all to see. Unfortunately, my family doesn't have a lost descendent," Mendez said regretfully.

"The Rinn family doesn't either," Shella said coldly, with a hint of relief in her tone.

The Rinn family already had enough trouble with the fearless Cirilla. Adding Arix, who caused an uproar at the five military schools in just four days, might be too much for the Rinn family to handle next.

When it was Marlone's turn, everyone silently agreed that the least likely possibility was the Kering family. After all, Arix had faced dangers repeatedly, all linked to people from the Kering family.

Marlone thought similarly, so he just gave a wry smile and stayed quiet.

"Let me be the first to check who Arix really belongs to," Laiden said with a smile. He opened the genetic report from the Alliance Military Research Institute on his opticomputer.

"What... how is this possible!" Laiden had started to read the genetic report calmly, but he was shocked when he saw Arix's psychic power potential.

Solis and the others had never seen Laiden lose his composure like this and realized the gravity of the situation. They quickly opened the genetic reports on their opticomputers.

**The Alliance Military Research Institute Genetic Report**

**Subject Name:** Arix Thalis

**Sending Unit:** The Alliance Military School

**Test Content:** Arix Thalis

**Psychic Testing:** Supergiant Class+ (Potential Unknown)

**Physical Testing:** Planet Class (Potential Unknown)

**DNA Testing:** The test subject's DNA is 99.9% similar to that of Alliance Admiral Thaddeus Kering. The father-daughter relationship is 100% confirmed.

Ever since everybody read the research report, the meeting room had been eerily silent. Both Arix's mysterious origins and her exceptional abilities had shaken the normally composed school leaders.

"This is no longer a matter for the military academy to handle. Let's report this to the president and the patriarch families," Laiden said gravely.

"Agreed."

"Agreed."

...

After unanimous agreement, Solis and the others quickly sent an urgent message to the president of the Alliance and the patriarchs—five admirals from the five noble families.

Once the message was sent, they stopped discussing which family Arix belonged to. Their argument turned useless because they didn't have the right to make the decision anymore.

"But still, it's surprising that Arix turns out to be Admiral Kering's daughter... But wasn't his daughter just found?" Solis, who was most concerned about Arix, voiced his thoughts.

"Could it be that Admiral Kering had an affair?" Laiden raised an eyebrow, feigning innocence.

"I'll check," said Marlone, his expression serious as he opened his opticomputer. He felt that Laiden's suggestion was likely.

He was somewhat accepting of Arix's psychic power talent, so he was more concerned about his own elder brother suddenly turning from a model man into a major scoundrel.

Mr. and Mrs. Kering were regarded as a model couple in the Alliance. Marlone found it hard to believe that all this could be a facade.

The other three gave Marlone a silent look, feeling that he should be happy that his family had produced a prodigious talent.

While Solis and the others couldn't follow Marlone's train of thought, their interest in the gossip flared intensely.

After a moment of silent agreement, the examiners all looked towards Marlone's opticomputer.

"What is it?" Thaddeus's cold voice filled the meeting room.

"How could you cheat on Fleur? How is that fair to her? She loves you so much," Marlone questioned in a serious tone.

"Marlone, what are you talking about? I've done no such thing," Thaddeus replied, his tone turning cold and angry.

"So I'm the crazy one? I'll send the evidence to you and Fleur, explain it to her!" Marlone snapped and then hung up the call.

In the Kering family study...

"What nonsense is he talking about?" Thaddeus muttered after the call abruptly ended. He rubbed his temples wearily before turning back to handle the miscellaneous affairs of the fifth legion.

Moments later, the study door was violently pushed open. The loud noise drew Thaddeus's attention away from his tasks and towards the doorway.

Fleur stood there, only in her PJs, tears streaming down her face.

Thaddeus felt a pang in his heart. He quickly got up and went over to Fleur, asking with concern, "Honey, why are you crying? Did Marlone talk nonsense to you too? Don't believe him, I would never do such a thing."

"Honey, our daughter has come back," Fleur sobbed.

Thaddeus was stunned for a moment, then quickly reacted. He scrambled to open the information on his opticomputer. After reading the report, his eyes reddened and he trembled, "It's really our daughter... we've even met her before."

Thaddeus and Fleur both remembered the poor young girl was so thin, which only made their hearts ache more.

They couldn't bear to think about how much their daughter, whom they cherished so deeply, had suffered over the years.

"Honey, I want to see our daughter, I can't wait another moment," Fleur cried and rest her head on Thaddeus's chest.

"Okay," Thaddeus quickly agreed, not just because he was eager, but also because he feared for the safety of the daughter they had only just found again.

The recent files detailed all of Arix's encounters, including several recent attempts on her life. Thinking of these, Thaddeus's gaze turned ice-cold as he looked determinedly into the distance.
