Hidden enemy?

Calvin took out the dagger and held it with his left hand. He looked at it for a moment and thought, 'Dual wielding should be possible right?'

Looking at the three wolves, he muttered silently with a smile. "Only one way to find out."

He walked a bit closer and used Camouflage to make the first move. He walked silently while trying to find a way among the leaves and trees without making any disturbance in the surroundings.

With his heart beating fast and trying to breathe as slow and as quietly as possible, he managed to close in on one of the wolf with 5 more seconds on the duration of his Camouflage.

The wolves were still sleeping quietly, with no care in the world and Calvin couldn't thank them more than enough.

With no hesitation, he attacked the head of the wolf that is closest to him with his sickle using Lacerate as the sickle in his hand glowed in a blurry blue light.

Puchi!

Calvin felt some resistance from his blade when it stabbed the head of the wolf but that feeling didn't last long as the blade of the sickle buried itself to the hilt until only the handle could be seen.

At the same time, a damage number appeared but the no longer camouflaged Calvin didn't have time to look at it since the other two might wake up due to the sound.

The wolf's eyes opened abruptly and before it could release a sound, Calvin's dagger was already moving straight towards the left eye of the wolf.

Puchi!

Another sound was made by the dagger that pierced the wolf's eye. This time, he didn't feel any resistance coming from the dagger as it easily sliced its way through.

He didn't stop as he lifted the wolf using the handle of his dagger and sickle and while holding it in the air, he kicked it towards the other two wolves and pulling his weapons out at the same time.

He knew that it was impossible for him to launch another sneak attack again when he made such a commotion during his first attack. He didn't doubt that other two wolves heard the sound of his blade sinking into the flesh of the other one.

So instead of waiting for another opportunity to attack, he'll make that opportunity himself.

The injured wolf hit the other two right as they were about to stand up causing them to fall down upon each other. At the same time, he heard the sound of a system alert but he ignored it for now.

Calvin rushed forward, intending to finish off the injured wolf. He glanced at the hp bar of the wolf to see how much damage he needs deal. But what he saw surprised him.

The damage he dealt was far higher than what he did to the slimes. Even though his strength increased by 2 compared to when he was fighting the slimes, that doesn't explain the boost to his damage.

But that is not the cause for his surprise. What surprised him is that the hp bar of the wolf is completely empty. Furthermore, there is another damage appearing above the head of the wolf.

His eyes widened in surprise while he thought. 'How? I only attacked it twice though? How did it die? Is someone else here?'

He was about to check the system alert which he heard earlier to solve this mystery. He suspected that it was about the mysterious death of that first wolf. Unfortunately, he noticed that the two wolves are already close to standing up.

Looking at the wolves that is now glaring at him and is about to stand up, Calvin gritted his teeth and focused on fighting first.

Calvin swung his sickle again at the head of one of the wolf but the wolf managed to barely evade the strike, causing his attack to miss and leave a huge cut across its face instead.

Awooo!

The wolf howled in pain as Calvin was about to follow up with another attack.

But before he can move, he saw from the side that the other wolf is now pouncing onto him with its mouth wide open.

He switched targets and swung his dagger against the side of the wolf while trying to dodge to the side.

Calvin managed to stab the wolf in its side and evade its mouth but suffered a claw strike instead to his chest which left claw marks on his armor.

He felt breathless for a moment from the impact on his chest but he didn't forget to attack back using his sickle against the wolf attacking him.

He got another hit in but as he was about to follow up again, the other wolf with the cut on its face is pouncing onto him already.

He dodged again and sliced back with his dagger while suffering a light scratch against his chest.

Just like this, Calvin kept dodging the wolves when their pouncing and retaliating with an attack after they landed on the ground.

He would mainly use his dagger in striking back or blocking since it was far faster than the sickle while he only use his sickle mainly for attacking.

Sometimes he failed in dodging and would suffer an attack. This happened especially when the two wolves pounced on him simultaneously.

He almost got knocked down on the ground if not for a tree behind him stopping his fall but he's still in danger as the wolves were about to pounce on him again.

So he changed his tacti and circled them making sure only one is able to pounce on him while the other has to run around the one in front. This greatly helped Calvin since he could lessen the chances of them attacking at the same time.

Thinking about the already dead wolf, he sighed in relief since he can now imagine how hard it is to face multiple enemies at once.

Speaking about enemies, Calvin remembered about the possibility of someone else interfering in his fight which made him nervous.

But he couldn't do anything else other than to face the wolves while waiting for that hidden enemy to make his move.

Minutes passed by as the hp bar of the three decreased while they fight. The hp of the two dropped more compared to Calvin, indicating that he is winning.

Though it took him a lot more time since he have less opportunity to attack due to facing two enemies at once.

Calvin's nervousness grew more and more as the battle neared its end but he still didn't see nor hear anyone else attacking from far away.

Eventually, the battle ended when the hp bar of the two wolves dropped to 0 and they lay down on the ground lifeless.

Following which, Calvin heard multiple alerts from the system.
