A Bootlegger’s Rise in a Pirate’s World

Hmmm I guess I should explain who I am, how I got here, and why I am currently freaking out. I suppose I should start with my name, John David Brewer. Pretty lame name I know. As for who I was, well plain and simple I was a nerd who died. I don't really want to go into my first life it was plain as plain could be. As for how I died. It's was sorta, peaceful. I fell asleep and just didn't get back up. Even ROB said I had led a plain life and death when he gave me a second chance.

Now my second life, that was arguably more important. The ROB who gave me a second chance was really into all things mafia, and had just watched a short anime called 91 days. So as any ROB does he plucked me up said a few words and shoved me ass first into some ally and soon started working as bootlegger in a speakeasy. I never even meet the main characters in the anime, worse yet I didn't even live until the end.It was about 2 months in when a police raid went wrong and a stray round hit me in the chest.

So as I'm sure you can tell I'm both happy an conflicted to be walking behind Luffy on our way to Party's Bar. "Hey kid. Thanks for the help, names John Brewer."

"Shishishi, your welcome I'm Monkey D Luffy, I'm going to be the King of Pirates." And of course Luffy had to do his cringe intro. I had already expected it but still even though I already know he will be one of the strongest people alive, he looks like a kid made of twigs. I'm sure he can beat my ass no doubt but damn.

"Alright then, I'm sure you can if you try hard enough. So how much longer till we reach that bar."

"Not long the village center is only about 20 minutes from the shore." As I heard that I decided now was as good as a time as in to be a cliché fanfic protagonist and scream the sacred words in my head.

As I reach forward while thinking of what I want I feel something filling my hand. A small burlap sack finally makes its way onto my lap. As I untie the string the system sounds.

'Bastard now I feel stupid. Well fuck what do we have.' As I look in I can see a small stack a cash, two changes of clothing, black pants and white button up shirts with some underclothes. A flat cap, and a decent plaid overcoat. A set of chest holsters and a Colt M1911 with two fully loaded magazines to go with it. The last thing in the bag was a Trench Knife.

'Well I guess I could do worse, at least I know how to use a gun." And as if by fate or some shit just as I finished putting everything but the berries away Luffy came back with Makino and food.

"Hey Josh food, Shishishi."

"Cool, Miss how much do I owe you, I think I ought to pay now before he tries to order more." I say with a visible drop of sweat. The kid nearly filled a table that fits four not including my steak and mug, which I immediately moved closer to me.

"Haha, yea Luffy likes meat, with everything on the table and with Luffy being the one eating it'll be 8500 berries. Anything else he orders I'll put on his grandpa's tab." She said with a kind smile.

'Damn now at least I know why Shanks must have kept coming back here her smile lights up the room.' "Yea thanks for being so quick, here, I hope you have a good rest of your shift." As I handed her most of my money, I'm left with 1500 berries, so not much I think I can do with that.

"Shishishi, thanks for the meat, hey John what's your dream? You don't really talk much do you." Luffy mumbles as his mouth is so full it stretches making him look like a monster you would run into on elm street.

As I think about my dreams i come to realize what I think I want most. 'Both of my last lives amounted to nothing I was ether to plain or died to quick. I think I know what I want this time.' "My dream huh,I want to be free, to never be forgotten, I will a life so grand my name will be engraved into thie world itself, I will never be forgotten again." Unbeknownst to me, I had a maniacal gleam in my eyes and to those near felt as is the world itself vibrating at my claim.

"Shishishi Hahaha be my first mate, the Pirate King needs nothing less." Luffy laughed out loud with a grin stretching across his face, he had even stopped eating as he said this.

And that's how my first day of my third life unfolded. I woke up buried on a beach, met a kid captain, and am now wondering if I'll live for more than four days this time. All in all….. I think I'm going to like this life.
