Chapter 22

Ava had being sitting outside for quite sometime until she had forgotten the time. The scorching sun flashed through her skin and it hurt her so much, coupled with the headache that flashed through her entire body temporarily.

"Aunt Ava," she heard a familiar voice called out, and at once, she swirled her attention to face the young child.

"Hey baby girl, I've waited for you until I thought that you wouldn't show up anytime soon," Ava said.

She was outside sitting on a leisure bench not too far from the parking lot. Immediately, the young lady wondered where Hendrix was, but before she could ask the question, she saw a very familiar figure materialize itself at the corner.

"Miss. Ava, I am sincerely sorry for wasting so much time in there," Hendrix apologized as he walked over to her, he pushed forth his right hand, extending it for the lady to grab it.

Ava hesitated, but then, she had being to lonely to bear grudges, besides, that was just so unlike her in many ways and she knows about that so well.

"There is no problem, Hendrix, I am fine with that, by the way, the breeze here isn't bad at all, and it helped me get my ideas in place. I just so love it to complain about the solitude though," she blurted out.

Hendrix was now amazed by how simple Ava's tone had sounded. It was more like she had being doing some thinking while he was away, and the wasn't wrong at all because Ava had spent the greatest part of her time while reflecting on her life.

The truth is that she has spent every penny she has worth in her to build up something great for herself, and that apart, he had also made it known to herself when she felt how broke she would be if she leaves this place.

The first thing is that she can barely pay for her transport fare back to Buea, she doesn't have the means to do so, and even if she has, that would be kind of unrealistic to make things any better than it is already.

Hendrix gave the lady a sidelong glance, he wasn't going to spoil the mood by just crashing it off with some illegal feedback, especially when he knows the kind of lady Ava is, the hot head lady. Well, Hendrix suspected that it might have accumulated from the fact that she has had to suffer the effect of taking care of a child alone.

"My car is parked just there, Ava, hope you can bare walking the twenty steps to the place," Hendrix warned as he wondered if that was going to be possible.

Ava didn't mind at all, because she had waited them for almost thirty minutes, and a good walk will only do her good to her legs, nothing more, nothing less.

"That will surely do my legs good than sittng here for another minute," she said dryly.

All the young man did was to respond to her claim with a nod of the head as that was essential to her.

Ava made sure she held Sophie's hand firmly and as she walks by her, she kept on stealing a few glances at the child, making sure she was alright.

Sophie is everything that Ava could ever wish for, from the name to the fact that she is the only family member she has on earth. That was super important, and although she couldn't change the truth or more, choose another family member, all that mattered to her right now was to cherish the best moments while the last.

Deep down in Ava's mind, she knows that Hendrix might have probably moved on with his life, that is, five years is a long time for a person to look for his better half, sign up some necessary documents and move on with them. Especially when getting married and having children was much more essential for a person like Hendrix.

He is a basketball player, the captain, and most essentially, he rocks in everything he does. The simple thought of it made Ava choke as she couldn't believe that these thoughts were from her mind.

"Aunt Ava, are you alright?" little Sophie asked in doubt.

Ava knew that she had to stop thinking of the man beside her, and although she didn't feel the need to do so, the one thing that didn't cross her mind at the moment is the fact that Hendrix might be worried about her as well.

"Are you alright, Ava? I can get you a glass of water," his baritone came in and at once, the lady flinched at the sound of his voice.

Sophie had not expected such a thing to happen to her, and even though that had happened, the young lady wasn't the type to get all this attention because she gave it out most of the time.

Just the thought of her explaining to her that it is Hendrix who is the reason why she had choked just made her crease her forehead in anticipation, as she dreaded that fact so much.

"I am good, thank you both for asking," Ava said.

This is the easiest way of saying this thing, and although she blushed profusely, Ava was grateful that the young man had stopped in front of a blue Hilux car, as he removed his key to unlock his car.

Ava couldn't separate her eyes from the man's dingy car. It is enough to speak if the wealth that he has, and just by that, she couldn't even breath the slightest bit, that was kind of cool.

"Wow! you own this car?"

Ava's voice came in, but then, she quickly held her breath as she quickly scolded herself for sounding this cheap.

She knows deep in her that she should never have sounded that way, but damn it because he came even help it all.

"Yes I do," Hendrix replied as he enjoyed the little show that was being displayed for his entertainment.
