chapter two

in the center of town a little cafe was being opened up, small tables and chairs were being set up in front of the small stone building. the table and chairs were nothing more than a couple of mismatched stools and old mead barrels. Eve didnt care, she worked hard over the past few years to get her dream up and running. her lovely copper hair sticking to the sweat on her forehead. she really needed another employee, setting up for the days business took to long. before eve even flipped the open sign one of her favorite regulars was at the door. she was small for a wolf, her raven colored hair and skin showcased her lilac eyes. on her small frame hung a loose and simple navy blue dress, with a bounce in her step she made her way to the counter. "well good morning little miss, how may i help you?" eve said with a smile, her lightly painted lips were a stark contrast from her milky skin, and piercing jade eyes, she exuded a type of warmth and kindness. after picking a seat closest to the kitchen the young wolf replied "Lady Eve you dont need to call me miss, just use my name." "alright then" eve asked again. "how may i help you miss Ayden?" the wolf girl smiled enthusiastically showing her large pearly teeth, releasing a giggle she said " same as every day please." eve nodded and headed to the kitchen. she put down the towel she was holding by the sink and started the kettle for tea. waiting for the kettle she grabbed a loaf of fresh bread, she had made a few before opening today, cutting off the heels she sliced two thick pieces applying a layer of butter to each side she placed them in a skillet beside the kettle. the skillet being heated by to the kettle was perfect for toasting bread. all the toasty yumminess and none of the char, this is what made Eves better than any other cafe. with the bread almost toasted eve placed the loose tea leaves in a strainer. she placed the strainer over the teapot and began pouring the boiling water from the kettle. she moved slowly making sure each tea leaf was saturated, content with the tea steeping she plated the toast. all in all the whole process took only a few minutes.

Ayden was quietly waiting, it was still very early morning. this was a great time to go to Eves Moonlily cafe, Eve would make her bread and pastries before opening causing the little cafe to be filled with sweet aromas. this seemed to lift Aydens mood so she decided to make it her first stop of the day every day. the cafe was only a few doors down from the tiny room Ayden was renting, and fairly inexpensive. she had only a small wood stove so cooking at home was tricky and time consuming.

Eve carried her serving tray over to Ayden, carefully she placed the toast, teapot, and appropriate dish ware. leaving the serving tray behind the counter she rounded and took a seat next to Ayden. this was part of the routine they had started, ayden had already poured the tea and placed a cup in front of Eve. with their breakfast and tea they sat enjoying the quiet of the moment.

outside the sounds of carts and horses was increasing, this meant it was time for Ayden to go to work. she had been working at the town office for a few months now, nothing glamorous by any means. she was pretty much just an errand girl, the work was different everyday. between the job security and salary she didnt care if she was bored to death. finishing her tea and placing a few coins on the counter she thanked Eve for breakfast, with a quick wave she was out the door heading for the center of town.

in the center of town there stood a dreary grey building, it was several floors high with a clock at its peak. it gave off a rather uninviting air. is this really the place the panda dude was talking about? Rynn thought to herself. it took Rynn awhile to get anybody to help her due to her disheveled appearance, probably the only reason the panda did was because he was blind. a large building with a clock and imposing aura, for being blind he hit the nail right on the head. well if she wanted to get anywhere she needed to go inside, holding the end of her fluffy white tail she headed in.

the inside was just as uninspiring as the outside, although it didnt have the same intimidating feel. there was a wide open reception area, the sand color walls made it feel almost cozy. there seemed to be several reception desks, each with a sign above, Rynn still couldnt read the writing so she had no idea which to go to. she could ask the people in line but they probably wouldnt help her just like the people in town. with a sigh she made herself comfy on the dingy waiting room chair. she would just wait till the lines died down and would and ask all the receptionists. time passed slowly, the lines didnt seem to ever get shorter, after a number of tries getting comfortable on the dingy chair with no success, she started pacing the waiting room. she had been here so long already, what was she going to do when night came? she couldnt very well walk back to the cave in the dark. panic setting in Rynn was suddenly overwhelmed, what was she going to do? what? what?! dread building her body was overwhelmed. she slumped on the wall unable to break free of her anxiety.
