Chapter 18 - The Generals slaughter

The first huge slug of the super shotgun flies right at Garrett.

With his high stats he manages to blur out of the way while the other normal humans all take cover and try to get into positions to launch counter shots at the General. He doesn't make it easy for them though. He uses an ODM canister from attack on titan and latches onto the roof of City Hall and swings out of the way of their counter shots. He then gets into position and shoots two officers from the defense team down with the super shotguns heavy duty slugs tearing through their basic kevlar vests. And exploding their chests open with gore and bone shards out their backs.

The defenders near those two scream or yelp in shock and fear as they go to better cover now that the General is more mobile than they first thought.

Garrett sees red and rushes to the General with his twin pistols firing like crazy. His squad mates all join in with their own weapons lighting up the early morning sky. But the Generals stats appear to be quite high as well as he zigs and zags between all the fire. And even the shots that do connect either glance off his armor, or only graze his joints and skin a bit to where his regeneration rate counters it safely. The General then eyes the remaining defenders and leaps onto the roof of City Hall.

The humans below began to reload or fire up at him with what was left in their guns and rifles. Garrett huffs out as he reloads his pistols and fires up at the General as the bastard runs around and fires back. This game of Call of Duty continues for the next 2 minutes until the General suddenly stops after having killed 5 more members of their defensive line, and only taking about 3 decently painful bullets. He grins wickedly as he calls out, "Shop! Sell magic Bracelet of Advanced Disguise!"

Garretts eyes bug out at that command. I didn't even know we could do that!

The General looks to Garrett and says, "You can only do this function when you give yourself to the system like I have!"

With a gnashing of teeth Garrett wonders what else the General is hiding from him with these shop functions. He refocuses and figures this won't be good and holsters his pistols and draws his new broadsword. He leaps up and uses the support columns as climbing ropes to get up the the roof as the general reveals his new weapon.

Everyons eyes go wide as he reveals a powerful looking weapon, The Ballistae cannon from Doom Eternal. He grins maniacally as he cackles with glee and madness of power. He charges up the shot and fires down on them.

The shot breaks the cover of two SWAT team members who look up in fear and are vaporized by a follow up shot. Garrett manages to get up to the roof and draws his own solid slug sawed off shotgun and fires while charging at the General.

The General growls at levels his weapon at Garrett. Only to yelp as it is blasted to the side by the first shogun blast the Colonel unleashed.

Byers roars out only to barely dodge the sword swing from Garrett as the angry soldier closes the distance between himself and his commanding officer quickly.

The Bullets from below stop raining as the Defenders all reload while Garrett holds the General in check.

The General is now using a pair of machetes, having given up on using his new gun in such close range and is battling dual wield style versus large weapon style. It isn't going well for either side. As the General has more training, but Garrett appears to have higher stats. However it isn't easy to bridge the gap in experience through raw strength.

And based on what he is sensing Garrett is estimating the Generals stats to be between 240-270 range. he is keeping up with Garrett well. And Garrett has a thought as they get stuck in a weapons lock, "So tell me! *Grunt* Why is it?! *Huff* That your stats are so high! *Grrrr* But I am the one who unlocked the evolved human races first?"

The General in his half undead state isn't breaking a sweat, but his muscles are creaking from over use now, "Well, I gave up my human form right at the beginning of this mess. So you could say that I am an originator of the Alpha strain. That was my achievement! So you can have the human achievements! I will be happy with my zombie evolution!"

He kicks Garrett in the gut and goes to finish him off, only for Garrett to bend down to his knees and go into a full on hugging the ground pose. The Generals swing misses at this as he swings where Garrett had been with a question in his eyes, before the answer is shortly given to him in the form of his machete blades being blasted to pieces by a pair of sharp eyed squad mates by the names of Hicks and Marina.

Byers growls out and leaps back as Garrett pulls up his re-chambered shotgun shell and blasts at Byers. The General takes a slug to the shoulder and leg but manages to fall back further and dodge the remaining shotgun blasts. He dives to a piece of roof and Garrett goes to chase him. But is back pedaling hard as the General brings to bear his Ballistae gun. Garrett leaps desperately from the roof but couldn't dodge the blast that sears his pants and feet. He yells out in pain as he falls to the ground, Mboto and Tomoe are there with their arms out and catch their Colonel.

The General goes to fire again only to gasp as his gun sputters out nothing but spent energy. He looks to his ammo stock and finds he has spent all the charges that the gun came with. Knowing he would need to restock and replace his gear spent in this battle he holsters it on his back and grabs his super shotgun. he looks at the humans looking up at him in fear and anger and grins at seeing Garrett currently healing with a potion he grabbed from his store.

He yells out, "Guess we better call it quits here Garrett! Your legs will need to heal fully, and I'll need to replenish my supplies. So let's call it a draw! But be ready! This is the first full survival week! I'll grow stronger with the points being boosted for me! Let's see if you can keep ahead of me with weapons and stats next time!"

With a laugh he launches the ODM cable and leaps away safely with only a few grazing shots from the remaining defenders. Garrett grunts in displeasure as Byers gets away and they all take stock of how they went from over 18 defenders to barely 10 left now. With the general no longer being there they technically lost 8 people tonight.

Garrett swears to himself as they pick up the dead pieces of their comrades to burn later, "I will not let this happen again! I will grow stronger and I will keep that piece of shit at bay. Or hell! I'll make sure he is sent to hell myself!"

He feels hands on his back as he swears this and looks back at his squad mates, Hicks speaks up, "Well you won't be alone sir! We just got our messages that our shops are open too. We can help you sir! Let us know what to grab, and we will grab it!"

Tomoe nods and goes, "Remember sir, we are a squad. And that means we are here to support our officer. Never feel like you are alone in this! We have your back."

Marina and Mboto both nod as well and Garrett smiles at them all. he chuckles a bit at that and gets up on shaky still healing legs and says, "Then let's repair what we can, and get those volunteers trained up. We have an apocalypse to survive. And our first order of business is to get these survivors trained up and ready for the coming threat. So be ready to be busy the next few days."

They all salute, including the remaining SWAT, cops, and Soldiers and say, "Sir! Yes Sir!!"

Garrett turns to where Byers left and says to himself, "You're right Byers. This isn't over, and I will be ready for you next time. So ready your sorry undead ass for when I blast it next time we meet!"

With that promise to himself Garrett heads back inside to take stock of the supplies and the current status of the survivors as he and his squad miss the flash of blue in his eyes as they glow with power and his veins flex with the same glow as he is alone in the supply room.

But he does catch a small update, Base shop update and Resale update commencing. Will be ready in 8 hours.

With that update announcement Garrett grins with determination on his face. Knowing this will be a game changer.
