well I'm thinking that in this case. the pursuit of his path is shrouded in uncertainty and desire. a dark path to his goals that makes him want to do as much as he can for every one he cares for. it makes him so blinded by his dreams that he cant't see how it is hurting himself as long as he reaches the one illuminated goal through all the dark obstacles he had to climb over and endure the pain of. and if the god of darkness reveals he was the one who granted the new hero his power the hero would be indebted to him and this have to be his loyal follower out of thankfulness for how many people that are important to the new hero he saved thanks to the god of darkness. remember broken doesn't mean crazy in the normal sense. it might be he wants him so broken over his goals that he will do anything to achieve them and keep those goals held tight to never give them up.

welp... that checks out for one fantasy in this thing. 18 will still be with Krillin but Piccolo will be picking up some other folks who have all but been forgotten by many fans
