Chapter 166: John Wick

After discussing and agreeing with Abby, the two rested enough and then resumed running in the gym for another fifty minutes to maintain their fitness results. Both of them broke into a sweat, showered comfortably, and went to their room to rest.

After Abigail fell asleep, William checked his watch; it was almost 11:30 PM. He got up, dressed, put on a mask and baseball cap, and walked to the café where he had arranged to meet the assassin from the Continental Hotel.

Sitting on an outdoor chair at the café, William ordered a latte and quietly waited. Close to midnight, he saw a tall, muscular man with shoulder-length hair, wearing a black suit, white shirt, black tie, and black shoes, approaching.

Oh my god, isn't this Neo from The Matrix? No, wait, William quickly realized, Neo wore a black leather jacket. This is John Wick? That dog lover?

To confirm if it was indeed John Wick, William took out his phone and dialed the number he had called twice before.

"Ring, ring, ring," a phone rang from the man. William waved at John Wick to signal him.

John Wick glanced at William and then at the bustling crowd around them before confidently walking over and pulling out a chair to sit down.

Ignoring William's mask and hat, John Wick took out a bag and handed it to William without saying a word, then stood up, nodded, and was about to leave.

Seeing the famous John Wick, William couldn't just let him go and quickly said, "Wait, buddy."

John Wick stood straight, reached his right hand into his black suit, and turned his head slightly, looking down at William with a warning look in his sharp eyes. After a few seconds, not sensing any danger from William, John Wick said, "The task is complete. Anything else?"

"This task is done, but you need to stay in this city for a few more days. I need you to keep an eye on two people. Here are their photos; they should be at XX Street, XX Number."

William gestured for John Wick to sit, then snapped his fingers to signal the waiter to get John Wick a coffee.

"Now that business is done, can we chat, buddy? I've heard about you, John Wick, the guy who once killed three men with a pencil."

Hearing this, John Wick, who had been somewhat tense, was surprised and let go of the gun in his hand, turned around, and sat back down, "How do you know?"

Hmm, how do I know? Can I tell you I saw it in a movie? Or that the big boss whose brother and nephew you killed told me on screen? Fortunately, you're not called Neo; otherwise, I'd immediately go back to Oxford and use all my money to build a bunker. The USA is too dangerous.

"John, if I can hire you through the Continental Hotel, I have my sources. As for how I know, I can't tell you. Can I ask you a question?" William said curiously.

This is the real John Wick, the famous dog lover. Not knowing if the third movie starring this big guy had come out when he was reborn, William felt it was a pity he couldn't see it. He wondered what the ending was.

John Wick kept staring into William's eyes. In these few minutes, he sensed that William seemed like a fan meeting his idol. My God, John Wick was stunned by his own thought. Why would I think that?

Seeing that William showed no signs of killing intent, John Wick became curious about what William would ask and nodded.

William, seeing John nod, quickly asked, "John, do you like dogs? Do you have a dog?"

'FXXK,' what kind of question is this? John Wick cursed in his heart. I'm a hitman; why would I have a dog? Is this guy wasting my time? Could he be someone with special tastes?

Thinking of this, John Wick got goosebumps all over. "No, I hate anything with fur. Also, please keep your promise. I feel responsible for Shaw's death. I hope his family can live safely. Goodbye. Call me if there's another task."

John Wick coldly finished this sentence, not caring that William hadn't answered how he knew about the pencil incident, and walked away coolly.

'No, you can't dislike furry animals. I watched you go on a killing spree for a dog,' William thought as he watched John Wick leave.

After thinking for a moment, William understood. Perhaps John Wick hadn't met his wife yet, and his heart was full of ruthlessness without a trace of compassion.

That dog was the only memory his wife left him, representing his deceased wife in a way. That's why the future John Wick would kill anyone who touched his dog.

William chuckled at the thought, watching John Wick walk away and whispered, "Buddy, we'll meet again."

Leaving a ten-dollar bill on the table, William took the small bag John Wick gave him and scanned his surroundings with his mental power, ensuring no one followed him before quickly returning to the hotel.

He checked on Abigail, confirming she was still asleep, poured himself a large glass of whiskey, and sat at the desk, rubbing the small bag in front of him. He had a guess about what Shaw wanted to tell him.

After downing half the whiskey in one gulp, his eyes sparkled with a mysterious light.

Bald Shaw was the first of his men to die, but William felt no sadness. Instead, he was secretly delighted because the treasure's value was too great.

As soon as this thought appeared in his mind, William became wary and annoyed, finishing the whiskey in one gulp. If this continued, he would have the makings of a villain.

That morning, when he gave Shaw the task, he was secretly hoping for this outcome. Unexpectedly, things turned out as he wished.

Reflecting on himself for three seconds, William opened Shaw's letter.

The letter wasn't long, only hoping that William would honor their agreement and provide a stable life for his family in light of his sacrifice.

Reading it twice, William understood. Hey, it seems Shaw didn't trust him, not mentioning the money at all. Was he afraid William wouldn't give it? Or feared William would kill his family for the £5 million?

William was annoyed. This bastard didn't believe in his promise.

After cursing a few times, to ensure no future troubles, William took out the small camcorder Shaw left for his family and checked it.

After watching it several times and confirming no hidden dangers, William still felt uneasy. He removed the memory card, called the hotel front desk to get a new one, and edited out some unnecessary content and images.

After re-editing, William thought for a few minutes before deciding to do John Wick a favor, asking him to deliver Shaw's last words and money to his family.

Despite John Wick's cold-blooded appearance, William knew he was a man of his word. Doing him a favor might yield a good return.

Having made up his mind, William texted Winston, telling him to expect a package. He mailed the new memory card to Winston via express delivery and transferred £5 million to Winston's secret account.

Finally, he sent a message to John Wick detailing his arrangements. Moments later, William received a reply from John Wick, "Thanks."

Seeing the thank you message, William happily poured himself another glass of whiskey, drank it down in one gulp, and went to bed, hugging Abigail.
