Attack On The Facility

After three days, five Aether-Hawks arrived at the facility, carrying a few high-rated guardians and a special squad in the military called 'Hunters'. Members of the Hunter squad needed to have survived several Deviant hunt missions with over a kill count of ten Deviants each. These people were the elite, skilled in martial arts, and were comparable to the C-rated guardians.

Even though Lucius had fully recovered, he was still kept in the medical centre under the guise of them wanting him to make a full recovery, but in reality, it felt like he was being detained. He knew this but didn't try to make a fuss out of it, instead, he acted oblivious and played along.

During the past three days, Lucius has been practicing his martial technique under the supervision of CCTV. The basis of an illusion has never been to hide something from people's vision, but to let them see what you want them to see. Watching Lucius practice his martial arts, exercise, and repeatedly use his hand of God ability to boost his proficiency, pace around the room out of boredom tried everyone watching, and made them conclude he was just another kid.

The fact he didn't seem interested in using his mobile phone was evidence that he was just a slave who gained status and wasn't used to modern-day technology. He was plain and boring, just as they suspected, however, what they failed to realize was during this time, Lucius was getting to understand the powerhouses of the United States.

The four Duke families were the Briggs, the Hall, the Ainsworth, and the Walker family. 

The Briggs were known for their demonic martial arts and were particularly considered a mercenary family, still used today to take down powerful oppositions of the government but within and outside the country. This family possessed one of the two SS-rated guardians in the United States, and have successfully produced the world's most feared mercenary group, available to be hired by all allies of the country.

The Ainsworth family didn't have the potential for abilities, but it is rumored that evolution affected their brains, causing them to have what is most considered an evolved mind. Over eighty percent of the technological marvels of this new era were created by this family and sold to the entire world. Compensating for their lack of abilities with technology, they have shown to possess the strength to rival even the strongest S-rated guardians.

The Hall family was a bit different, it was not based on lineage or blood, rather it was a coalition of the most powerful guardians in the country. These guardians came together to form a family and reproduced amongst themselves to preserve the potential of their offspring remained pure. Surprisingly, this method has been effective, and most of the highly-rated guardians in the country are a part of this family.

The current head of this family was the second SS-rated guardian in the country. After getting all the information needed, Lucius realized the main purpose of Dean Hall teaming up with him was to pull him over and make him another addition to the Hall family.

Finally, the Walker family is an ancient family known for their wealth and connections. They were not outstanding in any way, but they had the wealth and properties to protect themselves. They practically had sizeable shares in every major corporation and business within and outside the country. What was more shocking was the news of their recent attempts to create powerful guardians.

Maya Walker was a result of an affair between the family head of the Walker family and a lady with special abilities. It is said that her potential wasn't all too high, but the Walker family spent a fortune on external products that could help boost her potential. In reality, she was the weakest of the God set and was considered a pseudo-S-rated potential student. To make things worse, she suffered from side effects of all the artificial products used on her, which has greatly affected her health and because of this prolonged use of her abilities would only end up hurting her more.

Lucius finally understood why Moon wouldn't let her join the rescue mission. It wasn't because he wanted to keep her away from him, it was in consideration of her condition.

Lucius sat on his bed with a blank look on his face, but deep down he could feel some emotions steering within him.

The door slid open, and the nurse walked in with a pair of clothes identical to the ones Lucius wore on the night of Ethan's death. There was a look of urgency in her eyes as she hurriedly walked over, but before she could say anything, the sound of the facility sirens began ringing loudly.

"Put this on quickly, you need to join the rest and defend the facility." she said while dropping the clothes on the bed.

"What happened?" Lucius made no attention to put on the clothes, he just sat there as calm as ever.

The lady wore an irritated look, seemingly impatient, but the indifference in Lucius's eyes defeated her rage.

"The guardians left for the meteor site with most of the soldiers twenty minutes ago. We suddenly lost contact with them, and the man appeared out of nowhere with an army of beasts and deviants. They are trying to force their way into the facility." She said.

"What man?" Lucius asked with a raised eyebrow.

"The beast whisperer! You were right all along, but what we never expected was that the facility would be targeted." the lady looked away while she said the last part.

Lucius finally moved, grabbing the lady by the throat and lifting her off the ground. His eyes blazed with purple light as he glared at her with murderous intent.

"I think you are lying to me. I will give you one more chance to tell me what is in this facility that could attract the attention of the Beast Whisperer." Lucius snarled.
