Heading Into The Battlefield

Gah!

The lady groaned as she held Lucius's hands in an attempt to pull it off her, but his grip was just too tight.

"I-i c-can't b-breath." She muttered with a lot of effort.

Lucius snorted disdainfully and abruptly let her go, causing her to fall to the ground, gasping for air and coughing violently.

"Bastard, do you know what crime you have committed by harming a staff of the Prime Protectors Agency?" She hissed disdainfully.

"Do you know the crime you have committed by placing the future S rated guardians of this nation in danger?" Lucius retorted with a disdainful glare.

His words made her flinch and her rage vanished in an instant. Not only was she putting the future S-rated guardians of the city at risk, she was also risking the lives of the members of the Big Four families.

This was no different from suicide, should word of it get out.

"Talk." Lucius snarled while picking up his clothes.

He didn't care that the lady was there, he simply began to change.

"We-they-I…. I can't tell you!" She frowned.

"It's not something the public should know about now, but if we succeed, the nobles of the world will welcome us as heroes!" her eyes shone with passion as she spoke.

Pa!

A slap from Lucius sent her hurling to the other side of the room, leaving behind a well-detailed handprint on her cheeks.

Bam!

The lady hit the ground, not moved by the slap but shaken by the fact she just got slapped by a 10-year-old.

"You…"

Bam!

"Aaaah!" She screamed as Lucius stepped on her palm with his boot, applying just the right amount of pressure to break her palm bones.

Crack!

"Don't make me ask you twice… What the hell are you guys doing down here?" Lucius's facial expressions were blank and void of all forms of emotions.

His words made the lady shiver, shocked by the fact that Lucius was boldly harming her even though there was a CCTV present.

If the base wasn't in danger there would have been someone running in here to help her, but right now everyone was busy fighting for their lives, and she was all alone.

"You are wasting my time…" Lucius's cold words snapped her out of her thoughts.

Pa!

Lucius grabbed her by the hair and flung her across the room effortlessly.

Bam!

The lady hit the ground, rolling a couple of times before stopping. Her gaze was still a bit blurry, but she saw Lucius' foot shooting towards her face.

Bang!

Everything went dark from the kick, and she passed out on the spot.

[You know knocking her out won't give you the answers you want, right?] Lyxor asked.

"This bitch is just stressing me out." Lucius shrugged. "She wasn't going to talk anyway."

[It felt like she was certain she would die if you found out about this little secret. She was willing to take a fierce beating from you.] Lyxor said.

"Fortunately for her, I don't have that time, but that makes me want to know more." Lucius shot the lady one last glance.

He felt tempted to search for clues and snoop around the entire facility, but he decided against it. The facility was currently under attack, it was in his best interest to help protect it.

With a heavy sigh, Lucius turned around and walked out of the room. As he was leaving the medical center he saw a shelf where face masks were kept, so he picked up one and shoved it into his pocket.

Boom!

Just as Lucius exited the medical center a loud explosion erupted beyond the walls of the command center causing him to frown.

"Don't tell me they have already broken through?" He muttered.

Before he could act, the screeching sounds of a vehicle could be heard and a military van filled with soldiers quickly stopped right in front of him.

"The walls are about to fall, we need all the help we can get… Sir!" A soldier saluted.

Lucius immediately nodded and entered the vehicle. He knew whatever secret this base held would be somewhere in this command centre, unfortunately, he wouldn't get to find out now.

… Maya's POV …

RPGs were launched at the hordes of beasts below while the mounted energy machine guns rained down laser beams, dismembering scores of mutated beasts, but no matter how many they killed, more simply appeared.

Standing atop one of the watchtowers, Maya observed how the beast was pressing against the walls, literally trying to push it down with their weight.

From above, mutated birds suicide-dived into the barrier with so much force they died upon collision, leaving behind blood stains on the light blue barrier surrounding the facility.

At first, their actions seemed stupid and laughable, but after a hundred mutated birds had died through this method, Maya noticed the crack, though thin but visible.

Their accumulated efforts were paying off, but even this was not the worst.

Everything happening so far could only make her frown at best, what truly gave her the icky feeling was the figure standing far behind the horde.

His figure was hidden in a torn, messy black cloak which had a hood that covered his face. However, even within the cloak, his blood-red eyes glowed with unusual intensity which would easily make anyone shiver and strangely his gaze was pinned on her.

'Can he really see me from that distance?' Maya muttered while she observed all these things with a binocular.

More importantly, judging based on his figure, this person looked more human than a monster, so how is he standing in the midst of beasts safely?

She knew nothing about the beast whisperer, so her confusion was understandable.

"Miss Walker!" A soldier called out with a grave look on his face.

"Yes?" Maya put away the binoculars and turned to face the soldier.

"We are picking up a high-energy signal coming our way at high speed. We suspect it is an evolved beast!" The soldier's voice was shaky, but his words could be heard by Silver and the other students on the watchtower.
