Chapter 1Huh, so I died?

In the middle of the night, a man walks alone. The soft sound of his feet the only thing heard through the road. He sighs as he ruffles his black hair in frustration, he looks around for anyone present before he shouted. "Dammit!" He then mutters to himself in frustration "Making me do all that work. Now I'm here, stuck to walking."

He closes his black eyes and breathes deeply, to alleviate his oncoming nausea, induced by his whirling thoughts. Because of, according to his own description 'a fuck ton of shitty, unchecked code.' The man sighs once more and takes out his phone to start watching videos of history, taking his mind off from his rewardless job.

He smiles to himself, the history of great men and women. A story he deeply enjoyed, perhaps even as a child. He stops as he ruminates about such a fact 'Huh, the orphanage didn't really have that many books for small kids.' His face turns melancholic as a depressing thought enter his mind 'Then the next door bookstore, only really had history books.'

He hunches in depression, 'I wonder what Ms Mary would think if she saw me now." He shakes his head, to shoo away the melancholic thought. He mutters to himself as he continued walking, "It doesn't matter anymore, I'm sure she's in a nice place now." He smiles to himself, remembering the small time he spent with her.

He nods to himself as he cheerfully thought, 'And besides, I'm walking the path to my dream.' He looks to the bright moon as he cheerfully spoke "Wherever she is, I know she'll be happy for me." A few moments pass and his smile freezes, he facepalms as he mutters, "I have got to stop monologuing by myself."

He looks around and hurriedly walked away from the area, embarrassed of having his moment in the middle of nowhere. He chuckles to himself once more before he takes out his earphones. He opens up the videos to pass the time from here to his home.

Unfortunately for him, the earphones were too loud. The sounds of which drowned out a car horn. Michael looks back a bit, only for his stomach to sink in dread as he sees a bright light. He instinctively tries to dodge before a powerful force launches him into the air. A few seconds later, he slams to the ground.

Michael looks to the side as he coughs up blood, he sees the light moving farther and farther away. Leaving him with a single thought, 'Huh, so this is how I die.' He lays there as he closes his eyes, his consciousness leaving him, only for the wracking pain coursing through him to wake him up.

The thunderous pain relatively subsides leaving him to his thoughts as he laid there motionless 'I can't even painlessly die' He closes his eyes as his life flashed before his eyes, he suddenly tried to stand up and shout, "HELP!"

'My life was fucking boring.' He numbly thought as he tried to drag himself back up. Only for the pain to return forcing him to shout, "FUCK why can't I just die." A few minutes pass as he gives up, wracked by the neverending pain, he chooses to at least reminisce on the life he lived up to here.

Michael's eyes tear up before a numbing thought enters his mind 'Did my life mean nothing? Am I gonna die like this?' He closes his eyes as he feels his breathing weaken before depressingly thinking 'It doesn't matter anyway, no one is waiting for me here.'

'How the fuck did I get here?' A seven your old in rags thought as he looked through a cage. He notices the countless masked men and women watching him from the darkness, he suddenly winces as a rush of memories enter him. He looks in despair as the realization of where he was, sinks in.

'An auction' He morbidly thought, His eyes looks around in panic as he whispers to himself. "Didn't I die?" before he could answer it he was interrupted, "Now auctioning a human," The hushed whispers and chatters echo through the hall. The auctioneer continued, "I can understand your reluctance," He dramatically points to Michael "But, In his blood runs the bloodline of the Magna Imperium Royal family."

Shocked and excited chatter follows, seeing such a reaction the auctioneer shouts. "Now! Starting with one hundred gold pieces." Meanwhile through all of this Michael only watches intently, taking in all the information he can. He meekly lowers his head as countless thoughts go through him. 'Did I reincarnate?' Another burst of memories flows through him, mostly comprised of his despair upon the situation of the child he was born as.

'Well, my life just sucks.' He thought to himself, 'Well, technically both my lives sucks.' Michael chuckles to himself afraid the once he stops he'll probably start crying uncontrollably. A few seconds pass like this as Michael chuckles to himself, meanwhile the world around him bids for his freedom.

Michael furiously shakes his head, as he quickly thought of ways to escape. He looks down to both his arms and legs, checking their current condition. He sighs to himself, knowing that there is no way he could run using these, 'Then I'll just have to change that.'

He then turns his attention to the attendees, he looks closely and was engulfed in shock. Each and every attendee held an inhuman feature. Some had animal ears or tails while some had a skin colour wholly different than any human he has seen before. 'So, fantasy world, well my life just sucks.' He numbly thought, the whole ordeal now a mind-numbing experience, with a fantasy setting.

Michael was then filled with despair when the auctioneer shouts. "Ten thousand gold pieces! going once going twice. SOLD! to the gentleman from the back." Michael looks to where he points to see an old man with a comely smile slowly walking forward. He stops in front of Michael's cage and spoke a voice filled with dignity.

"Hello."

The American Dream: A Modern Officer Sent to the Revolutionary War

Due to a mysterious transcendent being, United States Marine Corps First Lieutenant Samuel Kim from 2016 is thrown back in time to the year 1775. To make matters worse, he wakes up near Bunker Hill, mere hours before the famed Battle of Bunker Hill begins. Realizing the unique situation he finds himself in, the lieutenant takes the opportunity to change the fate of the battle and ensure an overwhelming American victory. Guided by his "patronizing" "God" and the American revolutionaries, Lieutenant Kim embarks on a journey to help America gain its independence and to ensure the nation upholds its "most promising" ideals from the very beginning. Author's Warning: The story is very rough in the first few chapters (and as some readers pointed out, some parts are laughable, such as "American idealism"). However, the pace and quality of the story improve from chapter four and onwards. You will enjoy the story if you are interested in history, worldbuilding, and the butterfly effect (along with a few badass characters). So even if you are a bit turned off initially, I promise that the story improves quickly. Some early details were accidentally left out, as I wrote the first two chapters a year before writing the third chapter. If you wish to support my writing, feel free to support me on Patreon. All my chapters will be free, but I appreciate a tip! https://www.patreon.com/okmangeez
