Castor's Armies Pt.2

Michael Magna Month 11, Day 24, Year A.F 652. City of Castor, Kingdom of Rosalia.

The moment we arrived, the situation has turned for the worse, worse for those besieged it would seem. Holes were present throughout the wall as the sounds of steel clashing was loud enough even from my position.

With everything getting desperate, I'd need to move fast. I pull on the reins of my horse as I raise my arm, gesturing for them to hold. The army halts as the three heads of my army run to my side.

A gallop and a neigh followed as she rode to my side, her expression curious as she watches the scene before us.

"So, what's the plan?" She asks me as another barrage lands upon their walls. The force of which shakes the wall and leaves the ground trembling.

Anders then spoke, "Sir, I believe now would be a good time to attack." He points, "It seems that they are readily occupied as it is, any attack of ours would be fatal."

Though as he said that, the knights changes their course and started galloping in our direction. Seeing this situation, I give them their orders, "Anders and Daniel, hold off those knights."

They salute to me as they grip their reins and rode forward to meet them in the battlefield. Mary meanwhile, only asked as she wore her helmet, "Then, shall we go?"

I give her a nod and grip my reins, realizing that this was my first war, before pushing onwards, I take out my sword and shouted, "CHARGE!"

The surrounding men roared out with pure adrenaline as they run with their enhanced speed. With swords in their hands, they show the pure advantage our infantry held by showing the pure speed they could run at.

"They've gotten faster," I spoke to her as I watch thousands of men run effortlessly run through the clearing. The feet thumping into the ground as they make a scary sight.

She replied back, "Well, they've built up more endurance from all our battles. It is only fitting that they can now get used to the enhanced speed your sword does to the body."

The enemy knights notices their arrival and decides to meet them in battle, only for Anders and Daniel's forces to take their attention with a shout from their backs.

With the clear danger of flanking from the unusual soldiers, the knights decide to skirmish. Releasing fireballs after fireballs, unto the incoming men.

Anticipating such an action, the armies of Anders and Daniel were spread apart with enough space to dodge and make use of the reflexes and enchanted armor are used to their fullest capability.

"They seem well adjusted on the battlefield. I thought you said they were in dire need of experience?" She questions me as the men run from the incoming barrage, dodging it effectively as they burst in speed against those knights.

I give a shrug. "They are. The weapons I give them are effectively better versions than those that I gave your men. Put into account Anders' experience, well they could have effectively made the proper response."

"I see, are you also gonna update the weapons we have?" She ask as she looked at me.

I give her a nod as I reply, "Sure, we'll have them rearmed by the time we return back to Castor."

The knights saw the strange sight and ran, retreating back while shooting at the pursuing men.

"It looks almost comical, doesn't it?" said Mary as she notices me chuckle.

"It is. I kinda hope all our battles end in such a way." I reply as I watch Mary's men make contact with the besieging forces, slamming into them with a powerful force.

Though unlike Ander's orederly formation, her men ripped through the little resistance, those regiments could offer. Ripping through their shield with sheer firepower, opening it up and exploiting it for weaknesses as they butcher their way inside.

"Were they never taught to be in a formation? They all seem to be quiet spread out." I ask her as I watch the gruesome sight.

"I tried, but any formation I could teach them would have been inefficient from the sheer physicality your sword offered. So, Ivan and Egon taught them teamwork." She said to me.

"Teamwork?" I mutter as I try and ride closer to their battle, hoping to determine what she meant. What I came upon was coordination, groups of five men seemingly turning into a machine of battle, fully using what both the armor and the sword offered.

"That is quite a sight." I mutter as blood sprays everywhere, and the unstoppable army pushes and cuts its way through the siege.

The siege that was once one sided had it's besiegers redirect it's troops to avoid total annihilation.

Though as we watch, a thunderous sound rings from our side, an army seems to run through the trees, revealing itself directed at our position.

I take off the gun in my hip as I smile, "So, it seems we wont be just standing idly by."

She nods her head as she unsheathes her rapier, "It would seem so."

Dane Alard Month 11, Day 24, Year A.F 652. City of Castor, Kingdom of Rosalia.

"Sir, enemy on our sights!" An officer shouts beside as he points to the treeline.

Dammit, how could this city still hold? I shake my head at the thought as I shout at the messengers and officers.

"Send word to the knights! Have all knights redirect themselves to the enemy! Harass them to no end and buy us some time!"

The men around me nod before saluting with a shout, "Yes, Sir!"

It took a while, but they stopped the once constant barrage done upon the city before redirecting themselves to the new arrival.

The army before us then split up, one with four thousand men, heading directly at our besieging army. Fortunately, the knight commander had the foresight to retreat and skirmish the attacking army, harrasing them while making distance and avoiding total annhilation.

Though they dodge such a barrage.

"What are those men! How could they run so fast." I give a shout as another barrage missed.

I tap my chin in thought as the four thousand inches closer, before I give a shout, "Send out five thousand men to meet with them!"

An officer shouts, "But, Sir! We're so close to winning the siege!"

I give him a scathing glare as I respond with a shout, "Damn the siege! We'd be better avoiding annihilation from those unusual soldiers."

"But-" The officer tried to reason.

"DO IT NOW!" I shout at him as he flinches from my shout before saluting.

I grip the reins of my horse as I watch closely, trying to find a plan of escape. A lot of my soldiers are already too deep to escape.

Total annihilation is more than possible from these ridiculously powerful soldiers. Though as my eyes roam the battlefield, I notice two figures watchin from afar.

I grit my teeth in anger before giving an order to the hundred guards beside me, "Take all your men with you and take out those two."

The head guard tries to reason against it, citing his concern about my safety before I give him a glare, "Just do as you are told, commander."

With a nod filled with hesitation, before my hundred personal knights disappear through the treeline, riding their way to the enemy commanders.

I stay and watch as five thousand then diverts themselves from the battle, making a line to defend themselves from the four thousand heading for their position.

With their shield raised and spears pointed, I would have expected at least a bit of resistance.

It seems that those soldiers weren't limited to being fast. Their strength as well was beyond normal. The enemy troops swung their swords, melting through the shields that would have costed us quite an amount.

They fought ferociously, cutting limbs and leaving corpses as they butcher their way through the thick line and defensive shield.

It could have been a beautiful sight of war, if it werent something done against the troops on your command. Though watchin this, I realize something.

"There's no way out." I mutter, and the officers beside me freeze in horror. Perhaps both to my words and those of the terrifying sight before them.

"Order all men to retreat!" I give a shout as the officers look to me, before reacting in helplesseness. "But sir! We could still take the city, if we raise our defenses, the best thing we should do is take their defenses and avoid contact."

They continued to try and give me reasons to stay. Citing the countless documents and books of reading that would allow us to take control of the situation.

Unfortunately for them, there was no solution against such an overwhelming force. The best we could do now is gather our remaining men and retreat.

So with a glare I spoke once more, "Order our retreat!"
