Chapter 102: The War on the Undead(5)

"Attack! Don't let these bastards go through us!" Qin He commanded the front troops of his squad to continue repelling the horde of undead as he and the rest of his team at the back used rank 2-4 soul-fixed ammunition missiles at the horde of undead.

He was Qin He, the commander of the squad that was defending the Chu street of the Federation public shelter. While two other squads were defending the other streets leading towards the public shelter.

'Fuck!' Qin He cursed inwardly as he looked at his soul power battery percentage. The unending swarm of the undead was draining his and his team's Mechas as fast as someone drinking a beverage through a straw! At this rate, they're going to get killed before any reinforcement comes!

'The Federation people are really an idiot bunch to not create secret tunnels in the public shelter in case of emergencies like this.' Qin He thought to himself as he fired another barrage of missiles at the horde. 'A situation like a zombie apocalypse happening is like a 50/50 chance with evil soul masters existing in our society!'

Qin He moved his fingers with precise and lightning fast moves across the numerous buttons to launch several more soul-fixed ammunitions while also controlling his black Mecha's controllers to let it stay afloat in the air.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

Explosions rocked the street with blood and flesh flying around once more but zombies continued on swarming like ants.

Qin He screamed in frustration! These zombies are so fucking relentless!

Not only do they have superhuman strength and physique but as long as they don't cut off or destroy their head, the zombies would continue on standing and in time would regenerate their lost parts! Though thankfully their regeneration couldn't stand in equal with the ghouls.

"Commander! The horde is breaking down our first line of defense by 60% now! Our brothers Mechas' defense and soul power energy could only hold out, estimation; two hours!" One of Qin He's vice-commander called out to inform him.

True enough, the five purple Mechas in front that was stopping the horde of undead from breaking through, the five most defensive Mechas in his entire squad called the Iron Five Buddhas, looked completely worst for wear. Cracks could be seen all over their entire metal figure and the fifteen meter tall Heavy Iron Shield equiped in their hands.

"Shit!" Qin He cursed out with a worried look on his face. Not only were these people his subordinates, but also his brothers and sisters in all but blood! They had grown up together almost all of their lives!

Qin He was the second child of five children in a very wealthy family in Skysea City.

The first child, his eldest brother, had superb talent in business so it was expected for him to take over the head family position in the future.

The third child, his first youngest sibling and sister, had her calling in the music business. Not only that but she was really good!

The fourth and fifth siblings, twins, had their talents on cultivation and both had dreamt on attending Shrek Academy.

As for him? Qin He was an ordinary child with not a single great aspect of himself. He had no talent. No ambition. No dream. No nothing. He was just... average. It was what made him stood out from his entire Qin family and why he didn't have any connection to any of his siblings.

Why? Because he was an outcast to them.

The only reason why Qin He had even managed to get himself into the military is because he was forced by his father.

And he was only recruited into Skysea City's secret service is because he did more missions than anyone of his squad. Not because he was good. It was because he wanted to be promoted as quickly as possible so he could get an office job and laze around. And the missions he took? They were just some low-level missions that no one would bother taking and the one who recruited him didn't bother looking deep into it.

Even if his recruitment was a mistake, Qin He didn't regret agreeing to join the special services. Because this was the place where he finally found his purpose and found his true family.

'Think!' Qin He tried to think of a solution to this situation. 'I can't asked for the other squads defending the other streets, much less the ones defending the shelter! I have to deal with this on my own, I can't let anyone die on my watch!'

Although it was expected for them to have some casualties in this situation, but how could Qin He accept it? After finally finding people he could call family, how could he let anyone die?

"I won't accept this." Qin He gnashed his teeth and started to speak out orders. "Second and fifth teams, clear out the area around the Iron Five Buddhas. While third team go and recover them. After you're all done, fourth team shall go and replace them. Third team, you guys go help do repairs on the Iron Five Buddhas Mechas while also protect them. This street must not be breach, understand!"

"Sir, yes sir!" They all responded back and promptly did as what they were told to do.

Qin He nodded in pride for his siblings-in-arms and once more channelled soul power from his own body and into his Mecha. Five soul rings rose up beneath his machine. Yellow, yellow, yellow, yellow and purple soul rings glowed in the dark sky of Chu street.

His martial soul, Fiery Sai, appeared hovering in his Mecha's right hand palm. One of his yellow soul rings shone brightly and the small sai enlarged, with flames flowing around it, and it fit perfectly in Qin He's Mecha hand.

He controlled the Mecha hand from the cockpit and grasped the sai's handle in a very professional manner. It seems as if he has some proficiency in using his martial soul while in his Mecha as well.

Through his Mecha's soul screen, in night vision, Qin He could see hundreds of zombies running and leaping towards them crazily. Their eyes seemed to glow eerily red through Mecha's night vision.

'Come on you fucking bastards!' Qin He clenched his fists on his Mecha controllers tightly. His eyes bloodshot and determined. 'Even if I to run out of soul power, I'll continue beating you all to death with just my bare hands if it means protecting my family!'

"Everyone!" Qin He stared unblinkingly towards the horde.

'I wonder... if my biological family were to see me now... would they be proud of me?'

"On me! Let's–"

Qin He and the rest of his squad were ready to act when suddenly....they saw the sun.

"The, the sun?" Guo Mei, one of his vice-commanders and someone who he recognizes as his little sister, gasped.

"What? Is it already dawn?" More of Qin He's men murmured.

Qin He squinted his eyes from the brightness on the soul screen. "No, it couldn't be. I just checked and saw that it's still 5:50 am. So the sun shouldn't still be at the edge of our land yet, much less being already so high and shining so brightly. Also..."

It was bright. It was brilliant and beautiful. It was the source of the most powerful energy in the entire universe. It was something that only gods could only hope to contain and use such a heavenly power. But most importantly, it is something very, very hot. Extremely so.

Which Qin He and his entire squad felt equally and simultaneously.

"What, what the hell is going on...?" Qin He muttered to himself at the abnormality of the situation. Which is weird, as there was a horde of zombies coming towards them like a tsunami. "Everyone, don't let down your guards! This might be the work of an evil soul master or a ghoul! So–"

He stopped himself to stare, wide-eyed and mouth gaping, as the bright 'sun' in the sky– began to dropped down into the street and morphed into something else. The sun was just five meters away from the first team and yet, instead of its heat melting the metal of the Mechas, it had instead turned the zombies around a ten meter radius into ashes only!

"What kind of sorcery is this...?" Qin He muttered, his subordinates agreeing with him fully.

Suddenly, the brightness of the sun began to dim. Making every Mecha Pilots see that it was a large ball of yellow and red flames, the sun. It looked to be as large as a yellow Mecha! The flames of the 'sun' slowly scattered away yet remained connected like it was a string. Finally, a large dragon head began to formed and beared its fiery fangs at the horde of undead.

The land around it was instantly scorched; blackened and fire erupted all around the concrete street and walls! It shouldn't be possible! Yet, the street continued on becoming something straight out of the lands of hell itself!

It completely shocked Qin He's squad!

"What the fuck is that?!" One of his vice-commanders shouted.

A fire dragon? A literal fire elemental dragon construct? In the middle of Chu street and facing against the horde of undead?

What kind of bullshit is this?!

'Although its appearance is shocking, its power seems to be lacking in contradiction to its appearance. From what I could scanned through, the power level of this fire dragon seems to be at the level of a peak Soul Ancestor. Though it would sometimes bounced up to Soul King level.' Qin He analyzed the fire dragon that suddenly appeared in front of him and his squad.

"Sir!" Suddenly, Qin He's thoughts was interrupted by Guo Mei. He shook his head and listened to her through the soul radio. "Y-You gotta see this, enhance your visual screen by a hundred times and you're going to see something... unbelievable!"

Raising an eyebrow, Qin He listened to his little sister and enhanced his screen by a hundred times.

Through the advanced system of his black Mecha, Qin He could see a small figure in the middle of that large flaming dragon!

"What the hell? Is someone here to help us? Have reinforcements come?" Qin He raised his eyebrows in surprise. A flicker of hope flashed through his eyes for a moment before he sighed and shook his head. "How can that be though? I haven't received any communication from someone, telling me that reinforcement has arrived, and from what I had analyzed this person might only be a Soul Ancestor! So this just might only be a young soul master that's being hot-blooded and reckless, just because they have a powerful soul skill! No, it's possibly a forbidden ability that would cost them their life, or at least their vitality!"

"Haa. Children these days. I have to go and stop him/her, or something bad would happen."

Just as Qin He was prepared to fly down to help the reckless soul master from killing himself/herself, they heard their soul radio start to get static and a familiar voice sounded out.

"Commander Qin He, stop what you're doing right now."

Qin He widened his eyes. This voice... It was the voice of the head commander of their secret service organization, Shen Pe!

He was supposed to be helping them out with the horde problem sadly, he was a Soul Douluo and was affected by the curse to not do anything against the undead and the evil soul masters. So he decided to just stay in the public shelter to help calm down the civilian populace while also sniffing out any evil soul masters that was hiding amongst them.

He wasn't able to kill them, but that doesn't mean he can't have someone do it by alerting them.

It was a loophole to the curse but sadly, it couldn't help as it needed the Soul Douluos and above's to directly solve the situation.

"Commander Qin He, don't do anything against anyone fighting against the undead, they're comrades; reinforcement sent by Tang Sect. They just arrived and are helping transporting the civilians into the Tang Sect shelter. I was warned by a member of Tang Sect that if you see someone with a low cultivation fighting against the undead and displaying some ridiculous ability? Don't worry."

"They're not stupid. If they're attacking the undead horde must mean that they really do have the means to deal with them. If they really do need your protection then they'll just radio in with you, got it? Also, if anyone of your squad needs repairs then fall back. Wei Lu's squad has already returned after Rabbit street's been completely cleaned off of the undead. I have a lot of questions for them, you know? There was one big explosion and giant pointy pillars started appearing....ah I'm rambling too much. Anyways, just contact me if you need help, over." With that, Shen Pe disconnected.

Qin He stared at his soul radio incredulously.

'Huh?!' He didn't even managed to get his input in! Sigh. This is why it was troublesome dealing with this head commander of his, he's just too eccentric! Qin He sighed.

'Well, orders are orders. Although Shen Pe is quite strange, he's a reliable man that had helped them through many tough times and their leader. Also he sounded very serious at the first half, he's almost never like that. So if what says is true, then I should just stand down for a moment but be always ready to rush in if this person is in danger.' Qin He sighed once more hovered in the sky, watching as the flaming dragon construct moved around as if flying through the sky.

Qin He and his comrades watched as the flaming dragon construct opened its mouth.

"Sun Breathing, Ninth Form...." Qin He and his comrades jumped in surprise at the feminine voice coming out of the dragon construct.

'So that mysterious soul master is a girl?' Qin He concluded in awe as he watched as the heat produced from the dragon construct begun melting the surrounding metal, concrete and glass into liquid and ash in an instant!

The fire dragon ability seem to not be doing anything yet, it was causing such tremendous damage to its surroundings!

Tyrannical! Domineering!

The mysterious girl's epic ability had finally reached Soul King realm level!

The zombie horde let out an ear piercing cry as their bodies disintegrated as they continued on rushing towards her direction without stop!

They were no longer after all. Unlike ghouls, these undead no longer had any human intelligence or instincts to make them run away from the danger in front of them.

"Dragon Sun Halo Head Dance!" The fire dragon construct roared as it dived straight into the horde of undead, turning them into burnt meat and ash in an instant as it pushed itself deep into the horde.

Qin He and his squad flew behind the fire dragon construct, watching it decimate the zombie horde that they've had trouble holding off for several hours being exterminated in an instant. Not only that but they could finally see the person controlling it!

She was young, with long blonde hair tied into a high ponytail with a red bow. She has a charming figure, tall and thin. She wore what seems to be a loose-fitting black set of clothes that was sleeveless; though she wore finger-less gloves that stretches to her elbows, white bindings around her waist, long black skirt that reached her shin and a pair of black ballet shoes. In her hands, she held a very beautiful yet strange looking one-edged sword with a crimson hue to its blade.

Although she hasn't finished maturing yet, her face displayed the face of a young warrior goddess!

This was when Qin He realized something.

This, this wasn't some powerful soul skill or some forbidden bloodline power that would sap all of her vitality away, but a sword technique!

On the outside she might be using a powerful flame constructed dragon construct to mow down her undead enemies but to Qin He and some of his other colleagues with Soul King sense of sight? They saw her cut multiple enemies with a single stroke of her sword! All fluid, precise and with no wasted movement! Furthermore, after she attacks, several more sword strikes would follow and sliced dozens in an instant: all of which are produced by her Sword Will constructs!

Qin He and his comrades stared in awe at the young maiden, no, warrior in front of them.

'No wonder she was sent here alone, despite her cultivation base. Fire, yang and holy based attacks are the nemesis of these undead and evil soul masters! At this rate, it's just a matter of time before this is over.' Qin He thought with cold sweat.

She was valiant, determined, beautiful, firm and brave. With her tied up hair flowing around from the breeze of the wind, with embers of fire crackling around her. She was the definition of a warrior goddess of the sun!

Even when she continued slicing her endless amount of enemies apart, it was as if she wouldn't get tired.

Every step she took, dozens would fall.

Every breath she takes, her sword moves even more faster and powerful than ever!

She was unstoppable!

A few minutes later, the entire horde of zombies was gone. And one figure stood in the middle of a scorched earth remained. Dozens of flying Mechas circled around her in the air in silence while the sun, the real one, shone brightly on the horizon.

With a sword in her right hand, the blade facing down, Mu Xi stared blankly at the destruction around her, as if the act she did was mere trivial and boring. What's even more impressive, is that there was not a single thread of her clothing being burnt or a speck of dirt, dust and blood on her.

Seeing her like that made Qin He's squad even more in awe and respectful of her!

"She did it..."

"That little girl did it!"

"The sun warrior goddess saved us!"

"All hail the almighty sun warrior goddess!"

"Hail! Hail! Hail!"

In all honesty, they wanted to take a picture to immortalized this scene for all eternity! The beginning of the legend, of the sun warrior goddess!

Even faced against hundreds or even thousands of undead, the sun warrior goddess still stands aloof!

'No!'

In truth however, the backlash of her using the Sun Breathing: Dragon Sun Halo Head Dance to such an extent had finally came. It had not only completely exhausted her entire soul power but her stamina as well and it also came the physical strain.

The pain was too much for her to handle so she forcibly shut down most of the functions of her body. She did this so she wouldn't faint and fall down to the ground.

By her calculations, as long as no one bothers her in ten minutes, she could handle the pain enough to get a Soul Replenishing Pill and a Stamina Restoration Pill that she got from Tang Sect.

But who wouldn't have thought it had awed those Mecha Pilots to the point of worshipping her?!

'No! It's embarrassing! Don't call me that! No! Go away! Ahhh-ack! Oh my sea god! My lungs! My luuuuuungs~! It hurts!' Mu Xi inwardly cried in both pain and embarrassment.

'.... Gu Yue's probably lucky and didn't get into this sort of situation as me.' She resigned and pouted that her little junior sister had gotten luckier than her.

...

Meanwhile, in River street. A similar scene was being played.

A girl with long silky black-purple hair tied into a ponytail that flowed freely in the air stood aloof in the middle of dead-dead corpses. Her mysteries pair of sharp violet eyes looked up at the sky with indifference, as if the blood and dead bodies around her was nothing. She was also wearing almost the same clothing as Mu Xi, with the accessory of a red scarf around her neck being the only difference.

She was Gu Yue and it seemed she had also finished cleaning up her side of undead horde at the same time as Mu Xi.

Though unlike her, she just exhausted all of her soul power and most of her stamina. So she could just swallow both the Soul Replenishing Pill and the Stamina Restoration Pill to restore herself.

But, who would have guessed...

"All hail the elemental weapons goddess! For she, with her godlike prowess of the elements and controlling them to form into numerous weapons, has saved us all! Hail!"

"Hail! Hail! Hail! Hail!"

"Glory to the elemental weapons goddess!"

"...." Gu Yue stared towards the sun with a blank expression and thinned lips.
