Chapter 103: The War on the Undead(6)

As the light of the sun shines down upon the city, several shadowy, black cloaked figures moved across one of the many city's street with fast movements that no normal human eyes could notice them. Which they all didn't want.

Because they were the evil soul masters that had killed and infected the people in Skysea City with the corruption virus or otherwise known as the C-Virus.

That's right! This zombie situation wasn't purely due to a soul skill or any supernatural ability, but through science as well!

With how most soul masters nowadays have ways to neutralize the evil techniques and abilities of evil soul masters compared to thousands of years ago, especially those with the light and holy attributes, they needed some ways to gain an advantage. Just turning some soul master into their own wasn't enough.

So, they delved into the path of science to create biological weapons and other means to change this world into their own image.

The shadowy figures moved in a arrowhead position, much like other teams of their organization scattered throughout the city and are carrying out the same mission: kill anyone not aligned with them and infect them with the C-Virus.

The similarly black cloaked person leading them in the front froze midair for a moment, the soul power surrounding their cloaked figure fluctuated, before continuing on, but with more haste than ever.

This quickly alerted the others following behind him but they decided to stay quiet. Their leader was a man of action than words. If he quicken his speed like this it must mean that something unexpected has happened.

As they passed through several more buildings with no signs of stopping, and their direction was where their main is currently is, one of them couldn't handle it anymore and asked, "Leader, what is going on? Why are we heading towards our base? Did something happen? Did the young miss broke through or did she failed in doing so? Or, did that trash Ghoul Sage betrayed us?"

Their leader stayed quiet for a moment as they continued on traversing through the city before he stopped inside a giant office building with his subordinates following behind him.

The leader had his back faced at them and said, "New orders has been given: speed up the process of infecting the entire city and have every member of our organization breakthrough to a major realm before sunset, because we are leaving when night falls. These orders were personally sent to me by the young miss, this is not a joke."

The group shared looks and muttered to each other in confusion and surprise.

They were supposed to stay in this city for approximately an entire week, that was enough time for them to not only turn most of the remaining populace in the city; destroying it and getting powerful undead underlings in the process as well, and all of them would have an entire major realm of breakthrough!

All of this chaos, death, despair, destruction and pestilence in this entire city had enough energy for that to happen! While also amplifying their overall power. It was why how they had already conquered more than half of the entire city within just several hours.

For others, this place was hell. Where hope and life dies.

But to them? This place was heaven.

It was why they weren't too pleased to hear that they leave, but to breakthrough a major realm just before nightfall? That was crazy! Although they could but it would still take them to find a safe area to have a breakthrough or they're screwed by external factors. If that wasn't enough, the shallow foundation from advancing too many rank within a small amount of time would make sure that they wouldn't enter the Titled Douluo realm within their lifetime!

"Leader, did something serious happened to warrant such a order?" One of them asked. Everyone of them, including their leader, were wearing specialized black cloaks with hoods that wouldn't show their facial features except for complete darkness.

Their leader was silent before shaking his head and said with a whispered tone of voice, "I do not know. The young miss didn't elaborate anything further from what she initially told me, even when I'm contacting her right now she's not telling me anything."

"But," The air around their leader turned solemn and serious. "if it caused the young miss to do this, it must mean that whatever is going on is enough to tear this whole plan of ours apart. The young miss might be younger than us, but she ain't dumb."

"How could that be possible? We used a forbidden curse formation surrounding the entire city that anyone not affiliated with us, with the cultivation base of a Soul Douluo and above, would be helpless to stop us!"

The leader glanced over his shoulder.

"True, but did you really forget the flaw of this formation? It cannot hold back a Limit Douluo."

The group was silent. It was true. The forbidden curse formation, Blood Suppression Formation, is a divine level like technique that suppresses anyone with the cultivation base of a Soul Douluo and above! The only price it took to make it was the sacrifice of five Soul Douluos, the blood of a virgin maiden and six blood essence of different soul beasts with the bloodline of a true dragon!

The sacrifice in making such a formation is truly costly! Despite how many Soul Masters in the current era is more capable of achieving the cultivation base of a Titled Douluo compared to the ancient times of thousands of years ago, it was still hard to find a lot of soul masters with the cultivation base of a Soul Sage and above.

Thankfully, the Soul Douluos that they used to make the Blood Suppression Formation were people from the great families in the Skysea City that they kidnapped.

Although, it was really Na Nali and her three bodyguards who kidnapped them since they were the only ones with the power to stealthy kidnapped a Soul Douluo from their home and not cause a ruckus.

True to its requirements and name, the Blood Suppression Formation was powerful enough to suppressed most of the experts in the city!

But, there was a limit to the powerful formation. It wasn't capable of suppressing those with the cultivation base of a Limit Douluo!

As to why they aren't affected by this formation? Simple really, it's because they're strong!

They are an existence that's just one step away from becoming gods after all, they are beings capable of using the world laws and bending it; bending reality as they see fit.

If a Limit Douluo were to be here, they could have easily destroyed the formation and turned every infected into ash with a snap of their fingers! That was how powerful they are.

It was also the reason why Na Nali and their group had decided to do this operation now because the one Limit Douluo that was stationed in this city, was out in a diplomatic relations business overseas and he wouldn't be able to come back so easily to solve this mess.

From what they had estimated, that Excellency would come back within a couple of months!

Could it be, he was in his way now?

The group of evil soul masters broke in cold sweat.

Are you serious? No matter how many of us there are, just one Limit Douluo can easily kill us all!

"So you all get the possible danger we'll get ourselves into if we don't follow her orders now? Good. So shut up and let's go."

They nodded stiffly and they were just channeling the soul power in their body when one of them noticed something.

"Hey, were we always just five people?"

A moment of silence shared between the group of evil soul masters and their leader released his martial soul and his four soul rings appeared beneath him, which the rest followed by releasing their own martial souls and three differing soul rings of their own.

The leader of the group had his upper black-hood cloak slightly tear apart to reveal his face, not that of a human, but the face of a blood-furry wolf with blue piercing eyes that can easily see through the darkness in the office building.

He let out a menacing snarl and yelled, "Come out you little bitch! I know you're here!"

Silence was his only answer.

"Leader, what's going on?" One of his subordinates nervously asked as he frantically looked around for the invisible enemies that had easily killed their comrades, while not alerting them in the process.

They were originally eleven people, plus their leader, in their entire group and yet half of them was already killed off when they were just talking?!

How was this possible? They were close to each other, so it would have been possible for them to notice that one of them was either taken away or killed. Yet, no one did! No normal soul master is capable of doing this except... an assassin!

And it wasn't any normal assassin! This level of skill, it could only be a master assassin...

Their leader huffed, keeping his guard up by continuing to observed around his surroundings, he said, "I noticed it a while ago when we were running–someone was tailing us from the shadows. But I wasn't able to pinpoint the bastard's exact position. The reason why I had stopped here to answer your questions earlier was because I wanted to find the bastard. In this small space, I would be to find him with my enhanced senses as a Blood Devouring Wolf but..."

He narrowed his eyes, "I still can't find the bastard. What's worse, he took the lives of half of our group within us noticing it! I'm afraid, this person is a master assassin with the least cultivation base of a Soul King!"

"Oh shit..."

"I don't want to die!"

"What should we do?!"

"Leader, your orders?" One of them gulped and asked.

Their leader was silent for a moment, analyzing his surroundings once more for the hidden enemy and muttered out a reply, "We run for it. If my guess is really right, then we stand no chance except returning to our base and get the help of our seniors."

They swallowed nervously.

Their leader shuffled his feet around and narrowed his eyes, both of his sharp claws was barred and ready to strike. He and his subordinates was positioned in a circular formation, their backs to each other and was looking around them for the assassin.

"Ready yourselves. At my signal, fire your soul skills around us to distract our hidden enemy and we use that moment to escape. Got it?" The leader muttered to his subordinates.

"Yes sir!" They nodded.

Silence once more surrounded the group. It was so silent that even the drop of a pin could be heard.

The leader snapped his eyes wide and shouted, "Now–!"

Eh? He froze. Why am I looking at my body? The leader said to himself as he saw his chest and then to his legs and saw his other subordinates.

Why are they headless? That was the last thing that the leader and the other evil soul masters thought before they died.

Blood sipped out and sprayed out of the headless necks of the six evil soul masters before they fall down to the ground.

"Requiescant in pace."

"Idiots. Standing around in a circle, did they seriously not think that I wouldn't be behind them?" A voice sounded out in the darkness of the office building as sounds of steps was heard.

A figure stood in front of the glass window and showed the person who killed the entire group of evil soul masters.

It was a boy with short blond hair, fair white skin, a straight nose, long slightly curled eyelashes, and a slightly sunken deep-green eyes. He wore what seems to be a ragged black hooded cloak, unlike what the evil soul masters wore, his cloak didn't hid his face. In his right hand, he was twirling around an invisible dagger while on his left hand he had a white skull mask.

It was Xie Xie!

"This is the third group that I've encountered. This confirms it, the Black Orchid Hotel is the evil soul masters base and possibly even where that Ghoul Sage is hiding." Xie Xie stopped twirling his Shadow Dragon Dagger and put on the white skull mask on his face.

With a sigh he turned around and walked back into the darkness. As he stepped into the darkness, his entire body seem to fused itself with it; completely becoming darkness itself.

No, he wasn't becoming darkness but he was entering the shadows!

He was one with the shadows!

Moreover, from start to finish, he didn't show any emotions when he killed those evil soul masters! Even a tiny bit of killing intent wasn't released! What does this mean? It means that Xie Xie is either completely indifferent to the lives he took or he was keeping a tight hold on his emotions.

'I have to tell brother Ye and teacher Wu the information I got from them.' Xie Xie thought as he travelled through the shadows to find his friends and teacher, while also getting rid of "trash" along the way.

'I would've gotten more information from those bastards if I had just learned how to mind fuck someone with my spiritual power but nope, I have weak spiritual power. They or someone else had put a secret technique to cause them to suicide through any means necessary if they spoke about any of their secret plans.' As he travelled through the shadows, Xie Xie encountered a couple of humans barricaded themselves against a group of undead in a small convenience store.

He didn't hesitate. He summoned his daggers and began slicing off the necks of the zombies from their shadows.

'I wonder how Xu Xiaoyan and the others are doing... Especially Xu Xiaoyan. Although she was trained by brother Ye for an entire half a year, her martial soul is not suitable in fighting against one person all on her own and thus limiting her fighting ability. Her physique is average as well. Haiz, I'll just place my hopes on her.'
