382. Peace Deal From The Goguryeos

Zhang Ji will lead his army to attack the Northern gate and Xu Huang lead his army to attack the Sother gate, which was the plan made by Jia Kui who had studied Tianshui defense capability, with the additional presence of Ma Teng and his army he feels that this is the best course of action to takedown Tianshui, and so the siege of Tianshui begins with Han Sui and Ma Teng meeting once again in the field of battle.

Ma Teng who was standing on the top of the wall alongside Zhao Ang immediately recognized the banner with the word Sui, and several of the generals that he had seen leading the enemy soldiers.

He recognized all of them as part of Han Sui's Eight Riders Generals, which was once his greatest ally in combat and now an eyesore as well as a headache for him because they knew each other so well after fighting side by side for so long.

That's one of the reasons why the fight in Chang'An at the time was bloody but quick because they understood each other perfectly, as knowing your opposition could either quickly end the battle or prolong it. After all, the enemy took advantage of it.

Where they clouded the judgment of their opposition using the extensive knowledge they knew previously, where they show an acting like they were doing what the opposition thought they would do and then did the opposite of it.

Catching their enemy by surprise but unfortunately for Han Sui, he doesn't do that, which allows Ma Teng to end the battle as quickly as possible and manage to take over Chang'An 100%.

Ma Teng understood this so he tried to play Han Sui and his generals once again to gain an advantage over them, and for Cao Cao generals he could only try his heat to fend them off because, in terms of prowess, Xu Huang could take on his son Ma Chao.

While Cao Hong and Zhang Ji could take on Pang De, leaving only him alone as the remaining strongest generals in the Ma Clan, the enemies still had massive numbers of powerful and talented generals.

As Ma Teng was thinking about this, Han Sui ordered his generals to enter siege formation and deployed the battering rams to attack the gate, while the siege ladders were brought to the front preparing to be put onto the wall of Tianshui.

Zhao Ang as the leader of the archer units, immediately ordered his archers to let loose of their arrows toward Han Sui's men, managing to cause some casualties in the process for Han Sui.

Unfortunately, however, the number of casualties wasn't big enough to cause Han Sui to even flinch as Han Sui's men were preparing themselves without stopping.

Left with no other choices, Zhao Ang could only target the soldiers who were pushing the battering rams, he even had some of the archers shoot flaming arrows board the battering ram hoping to burn it down.

Han Sui seeing his battering ram being attacked, had his archers shoot back toward Zhao Ang and Ma Teng's location, where the two managed to protect themselves as some of their men were as lucky as the two of them.

Some were impaled on their arms or legs injuring them, some were immediately killed with them taking the arrows to their head, and some were heavily injured with the arrows managing to hit their chest or stomach.

Ma Teng and Zhao Ang could only order for the heavily injured to be carried toward the medical tents to be treated, as the dead let it stayed on the top of the wall because they didn't have the manpower to do both tasks at the same time.

Both sides began to exchange arrows continuously until the battering ram reached the gate and began to hit it, and Zhao Ang had some of his men throw down big chunks of stone toward the battering ram.

The stones immediately killed Han Sui's men who were hit by the stones, as the stones hit them on their heads, and their helmets didn't have the strength to withstand the impact of a big falling down with a last speed due to gravity.

As the battle began to grow fierce as Han Sui's men began to put the siege ladders on the wall of Tianshui, Wang Yi who was Zhao Ang's wife doesn't just stay put and hide behind her husband.

She controlled the domestic government of Tianshui where she came to the people of Tianshui and managed to even persuade several hundreds of youths to become a militia, to keep the town safe as they will patrol the town.

As for the town guards, they will join Ma Teng and Zhao Ang on the top of the wall, reinforcing them to increase the winning chance of Ma Teng's Army.

Wang Yi's move caused some of Zhao Ang's retainers in the government to be dissatisfied, but there was nothing they could do for now because Zhao Ang doted on Wang Yi very much allowing her to do anything she wanted to d without any consequences.

Also, she isn't doing anything that will worsen the situation as it is but manages to turn things around and increase the winning odds for Ma Teng and Zhao Ang albeit by a very minuscule amount.

Outside of Tianshui on the northern and southern wall, Xu Huang and Zhang Ji respectively led their army to both sides and began to siege Tianshui from those locations as well where they almost surrounded the entirety of Tianshui's entrances.

Ma Chao was stationed on the northern wall and Pang De was stationed on the southern wall by Ma Teng, so they met with the adversaries that could take them on.

As the situation in Tianshui was growing fierce, far from their location to the east at the border between China and Goguryeo, Zhang Liao and Gongsun Gong who were leading their army had managed to take down one of the remaining three tons in the area that they have decided to take from the Gogruyeos.

After the retreat of the Goguryeo Army, the two of them had a smooth sailing conquest of the towns that they had targeted, as they only encountered minimum to no resistance whatsoever as the enemies didn't have any chance to put up a fight.

At first, they don't realize it but after several towns fall one after another to their hands, Zhang Liao alongside Gao Shun and Gongsun Gong finally sure that the Goguryoes Army truly retreated from the area.

Even though they don't know what the reason is and the Oriole also doesn't have any answer as their network hadn't extended outside of China, they could only continue forward to achieve their goal.

So after taking down this town, they decided to take a rest and also consolidate Lie Fan's influence in the town and let their men take a rest.

Zhang Liao and Gao Shun were overlooking the town from the top of a watchtower at the wall of the town because the architecture and design of the buildings in each Goguryeos town had different but similar designs.

So they take this chance to enjoy themselves and take a rest spiritually and mentally, while they chat among themselves and enjoy a nice cup of tea and some snacks as a side dish.

Zhang Liao: "When do you think we will end our campaign here on I chatted territories huh Gao Shun?"

Gao Shun: "Maybe around a month and a half before we could return back to Xiapi, we definitely had the chance to participate in Our Lord's campaign against Cao Cao to the west."

Gao Shun: "Haha! My old friend I wouldn't dare to do so, I don't want to be beaten in front of my men again like in the past!"

Hearing what Gao Shun had just said caused Zhang Liao to laugh out loud remembering that memory, where soon Gao Shun followed Zhang Liao joining the laugh as their sound reverberated across the watchtower.

At this time, suddenly a guard barges in reporting to them that Gongsung Gong invited them to go to the main hall, as a messenger from Goguryeos had just arrived, bearing a white flag as a sign of truce.

This surprised the two of them as they never expected the Goguryeos would send a messenger to them, so they immediately headed toward the main hall where Gongsun Gong and the Goguryeos envoy were waiting.

In the main hall, Gongsun Gong and the Goguryeos envoy were exchanging words with translators from both sides translating the words for them, and both Zhang Liao and Gao Shun were welcomed by this scene when they arrived.

Seeing the two of them had arrived, Gongsun Gong immediately called them up to join and then introduced them to the Goguryoes envoy, who had a cold sweat on his back because he recognized the two generals who had caused massive losses for the Goguryeos Army.

As everyone had arrived, Gongsun Gong then began to ask the envoy what the purpose of their coming here was to meet them, because they're were no signs of presence from the Goguryeos higher ups until the envoy's arrival.

The head of the envoy stepped forward and began to explain to Gongsin Gong, Zhang Liao, and Gao Shun that the reason he came here was because his king, Sansang Of Goguryeos wanted to broker a peace deal between the two nations.

When these words were translated, the three of them were shocked because they never expected that the Gogruyeos would suddenly come to broker a peace deal between them, as the Goguryeos were fighting fiercely right before their retreat. Gongsun Gong can't Gao Shun both immediately notice that something must have happened, so they said to the envoy they would consider it if they told them the reason for the sudden peace deal.
