383. Peace With Goguryeos

Envoy: "I-i huh... The truth is, the reason m-my king, sending me for a peace deal is because there's some internal dispute inside our kingdom, and to lessen the suffering of the people and the burden for our army, my king had decided for us to do so by suing for peace."

Zhang Liao, Gao Shun, and Gongsun Gong turned to look at each other in surprise because they never expected that there would be an internal dispute, which means that the Goguryeos are in a rebellion crisis right now.

The heavens were truly on their side it seems, because they would also sue for peace when the last remaining two towns have been taken down by them, but now since the Goguryeos were the ones asking for the peace, they will milk them dry for any worth.

Gongsun Gong cleared his throat to hide his surprise and then told the envoy that they would accept the peace request, but the Goguryeos had to accept several requests for peace to go forward.

The envoy could only nod his head in defeat because now he could only accept whatever excessive demands the Gongsun had for them, where in truth it actually wasn't his fault because he was pressured to reveal what happened if not the peace deal would never happen.

Seeing this, Gao Shun immediately said that the first request was that the Goguryeos cede the two neighboring towns to them from their current location, and leave every supply and money in the town untouched.

Next Gongsun Gong told the second request which was a tribute, that the Goguryeos had to pay them tributes that encompassed all kinds of resources, jewelry, and money.

Lastly, Zhang Liao added that the Goguryeo had to enter a defensive pact with them, where they would have to come to his aid whenever the Xiongnus attacked him, and they work both ways but his side had the right to refuse while the Goguryeos couldn't refuse.

The Goguryeos Envoy turned dizzy when he heard the three requests because all of them undermined the reputation and power the Goguryeos had gathered in the entire sphere of the land.

But he can only grit his teeth and accept the terms because King Sansang has given him all the authority to accept any kind of terms, except for one that involved the members of the royal family.

As the terms were accepted by the envoy, Zhang Liao alongside Gao Shun and Gongsun Gong was satisfied with how decisive their request was accepted, so Zhang Liao told the envoy that when the Goguryeos cede the two towns the peace deal would be implemented.

The envoy heaved a sigh of relief and thanked the three of them profusely, before taking his leave to inform the terms of the peace deal that he had accepted to King Sansang.

Zhang Liao, Gao Shun, and Gingsun Ging don't wait for too long as in just two weeks, a group of Goguryeos officials and generals come to the town informing them that they will escort them to the two towns that will be handed to them as part of the peace deal.

So together with the group of Goguryeos officials and generals, Zhang Liao and Gongsun Gong brought their army to receive the two towns and made it official that the Goguryeos and Lie Fan's army stopped their war.

The war between Lie Fan and the Goguryeos finally comes to an end with an overwhelming victory for Lie Fan, and all of this happened with fewer casualties than expected due to the sudden rebellion of Balgi, King Sansang of Goguryeo's older Brother.

Zhang Liao and Gao Shun consolidated Lie Fan's influence over the two towns, while Gongsun Gong began to install trusted officials in each town that had been conquered as part of his domain under Lie Fan's rule.

After they had done so, Zhang Liao and Gao Shun said their goodbyes to Gongsun Gong as they would return to Xiapi with half of the Qilin Army under their command.

Gongsun Gong was sad seeing this happening but there was nothing he could do to stop this, as he knew sooner or later this would happen. So after ensuring that they would leave with enough supplies, Gongsun Gong allowed them to leave and head back to Xiapi.

With Zhang Liao and Gao Shun leasing half of the Qilin Army to return to Xiapi, the Orioles began to expand their network to the entity of Gongsun Gong's new domain, even to the Goguryeos area.

They also sent the result of the peace deal back to Xiapi, directly to Lie Fan and Jia Xu's hands where Xu Kai personally delivered this letter, because the letter was received by Xu Kai, as he had to check the level of importance of the letter first.

Jia Xu opened the letter and read it steadily so that Lie Fan could also know the content of the letter, and the both of them were surprised when they knew that Zhang Liao, Gao Shun, and Gongsun Gong had brokered a peace deal with the Goguryeos.

The terms of the peace deal make sense and satisfy both Lie Fan and Jia Xu because not only did they expand Gongsun Gong's domain but also gained steady tribute and a defensive alliance to counter the Xiongnus but on their terms.

Since they had peace out with the Goguryeos, Lie Fan could rest assured that his northern domains would be safe now, and Gongsun Gong could begin to develop his domain to enter the same condition as the rest of Lie Fan's domain.

Lie Fan: "Now that we have brokered a peace deal with the Goguryeos, Zhang Liao and Gao Shun should be on their way back to Xiapi with the rest of my Qilin Army, this will increase our odds in our planned campaign against Cao Cao."

Jai Xu: "Definitely My Lord, both General Zhang Liao and Gao Shun's talents would increase the combat power of your army, and the rest of the Qilins Army had bathed in blood which increased their experience to a whole new level."

Lie Fan: "Talking about Zhang Liao, do you think I should gift him Lu Bu's Red Hare? It already stayed on our horse game where it breeds with some of our mares, and now it just stayed there collecting dust."

Jia Xu: "If My Lord thinks that you should gift him the Red Hare, then My Lord should do so because there's no downside for My Lord. Not only it will increase his loyalty, but also increase General Zhang's combat power massively."

She was touched that Lie Fan would give Red Hare to Zhang Liao because it had been acknowledged amongst all the people of the land that her father's horse was the number one amongst all horses, and for him to gift it to Zhang Liao who she treated as her own uncle was very touching, even though it had been used for his personal gain for some years because Lie Fan could just keep it for himself.
