Kenji's Wall

"Sachie!"

I was brought back to my senses when I felt a sudden tap on my shoulder. Reeve was calling me the whole time while I was staring on our blank wall.

"Sorry..." I looked at him and pointed at the wall. "I was wondering if we could fill this up with our memories... I mean pictures of Kenji. I wanted to see his growth." I continued.

Reeve was listening to me intently and his eyes were going back and forth towards me and the wall.

"Would you like to paint it?" he was rubbing his chin and now he was the one staring into the wall.

"Well as much as I would want to but the smell of the paint wouldn't be nice for our baby right?"

"Right" he agreed easily. "So what kind of concept do you have in mind?"

"I like the instax style you know. White frames and with a caption below. Something like that."

"If it's white frame against these white walls then I guess we should get a wallpaper with the sky and the clouds thingy you know"

I felt the excitement rushing onto me. It's a perfect concept. I want to do it now. As in right now.

"Hold on" he stopped me from walking towards my room. "Did you allocate a budget for this?" my eyes widen at his sudden question.

"Well... I have some spare money from my last month's budget"

"Ok then I'll share too. I'll get Kenji" he went to the room and then after a while he got out with the baby bag.

"Shall we?" he offered his free arm as if we are going to a ball. I accepted his offer and I bowed sideways which made us laugh as we headed out.

Upon arriving at one of the largest mall in the country, we noticed the long lines at the convention center. It seems like the Travel Expo has begun. We looked at each other as if we have read each other's mind. We'll visit the travel expo later after we are done with Kenji's wall design.

After having the car parked we headed to the department store to check the frames and wallpapers. I find it fun to go shopping with him. He's not the usual guys who just stays on one corner and wait until you finish everything. Its different with him, he suggests which he thinks is better or even pick the best one.

After placing everything in the car we went to the travel expo to check for promos and other places that we could visit soon.

"Sachie have you been to thailand?" he showed a brochure regarding it.

"Not yet but I heard that most of the people go there for shopping."

"Let's go there on summer?" I stopped on my tracks to look at him.

Pointing my fingers back and forth to him I asked, "You want us to go together?"

"Yeah" he smiled at me and he looks like an excited kid. How can I say no to that?

"Well we have to get Kenji a passport first. So we need to save money for the trip. That will be in six months." I was already calculating the possible expenses. Wait if we are going together then it means we will be staying in one room? I don't think so but I guess we'll cross the bridge when we get there.

"I'll handle the costing and we'll save together. Okay?" It's kinda packed in here right now so we are walking side by side while he placed his hand on my shoulder. He instinctively protects us so we won't bump on the people passing by.

"Just tell me if you're tired from walking so we could grab some refreshments or we could go any moment. Anyway, I already have all the brochures I want and its kinda packed in here and I hope it won't disturb Kenji from his sleep." Kenji got sleepy while we were shopping for the frames.

Actually my legs are tired from walking but when I see him enjoying and checking things out I fell like I could still go on. I think he noticed cause he took Kenji from me and told me that we could go anytime.

"Do you like traveling?"

"Yeah especially when you have someone to travel with." Someone to travel with? I do travel by myself most of the time. More like I'm all by myself most of the time. It's not like I don't want to travel with someone but it's more of I don't have someone to travel with.

"Do you like to travel with me?" I was startled at his sudden question.

I paused for a while before answering. "Yeah? I mean we three could go together right?"

He gave me a big smiled and then looked at the sleeping baby in his arms. "Yeah I think it will be fun." I know its going to be fun.

After getting some snacks we went home. Kenji woke up on the way and he sat there quietly watching on the road.

"Did you have fun today?" Reeve asked

"Yeah. I can't wait to start designing Kenji's wall."

"I bet you are. You were happily picking the frames. You're so fun to watch" So he was observing me?

"You didn't get bored? I mean most guys don't like shopping and stuff right?"

"I don't mind as long as its you and for our Kenji. I mean how many has it been since we went shopping together?"

Yeah how many months has it been? Kenji's turning four months and by Christmas time he'll turn six. Sure time flies fast. Really fast.

I looked at him and he's too focused on driving. I've been with him for four months. This guy is awesome. I don't know if this setup will last for years or not but his presence in our life right now is irreplaceable.

I know he'll be a good father in the future. A very good family man.
