Chapter 7: A Day in Fallout

[Can someone do the math? How long is it in the real world for a day, its 100x the speed in the 'Modes' and 100 Days in the 'Modes' is a single day in the real world]

Minutes later my boots and knife were stained with the blood of over two dozen rats!

Although I could use these rats for food I ultimately decided against it since these rats could be hiding away diseases in their disgusting bodies, speaking of which I soon cleaned my knife.

Sheathing my knife, I strapped it to my side instead of putting it back into my Pipboy's inventory.

I wanted to make sure I had enough time to grab a weapon if I were to suddenly be attacked.

The biggest problem I found was that I had no food or water and yet I had to travel to a Vault days away from here, heck I might not even get to the vault until a week passes...

Luckily for me I honed my survival skills and should be able to find edible food and drinkable water in any kind of condition, but boy oh boy was I wrong when I stepped out from the cave...

Before me was a land barren from life, it looked as if the land was destroyed and didn't have enough strength to recover by itself, what I did notice however was that some plants did litter the landscape but they didn't really look edible or even alive...

I looked at the hilly terrain before me and began walking, heading east towards Vault 15.

As hours passed I was attacked multiple times by several different types of creatures.

Something called Molerats, Bloatflies, and Golden Geckos.

These creatures were all large and/or hideous.

The Molerats lunged from underneath the ground and managed to get a good bite on me but I swiftly killed them with my knife, while the Bloatflies...shot a disgusting projectile at me, which I luckily dodged and soon shot the Bloatflies and after hitting their torsos with a bullet they exploded...literally.

And the Golden Geckos were not as bad since they just charged at me like mad animals.

But due to their large bodies and serrated teeth, I did not even take the chance with them coming close and used my 10mm Pistol to take them out from a distance.

After they died night arrived and I had some Gecko Steaks for dinner.

Oh...so they were irradiated?

Well, thank god I had the Radiation Immunity.

I then went on to store the rest of the unused meat from the 4 remaining Golden Geckos in my Pipboy's Inventory after skinning them all for their leather and making me some simple leather protection that rests above my arms and legs on my Vault Suit.

And I even found that the Golden Gecko leather is somewhat resistant to radiation, although useless to me it could prove valuable.

Now that the Golden Gecko leather covered my arms and legs and part of my chest I felt much safer as I rested for the night from the day's walk.

To think I have already been in this world for a day and attacked by multiple creatures.

Well for tonight I will make sure to sleep with an eye open.

Early the next morning just before sunrise I awoke feeling thirsty.

Damn I need to find some kind of water soon...

I had to sleep on the rough ground last night and got dust and dirt all over my body and clothes making the journey all the more uncomfortable for me.

As I continued my journey east I was surprised to eventually find a small pond of water!

What a lifesaver!

I looked down at the water and although it looked slightly dirty I had no other choice, it was either this or dehydration.

Bending down I scooped up some water and drank a mouthful.

Once again my skill saves me!

Although I don't know how much radiation I would need to absorb for me to actually get physically harmed I would rather not find out anytime soon.

Instead of leaving the precious water behind, I used some of the leftover Gecko leather and some random pieces of material around to make two simple Leather pouchs and tied them to my side with a leather strap of Gecko hide.

With water and food I should have much problems in surviving out here now besides the local wildlife.

As I walked for hours over the hills and the long stretches of desert land I noticed something, there were quite a large number of irradiated creatures but a complete lack of people, where are they?

Has everyone been wiped out? Are the only people left staying in vaults? Is anyone left in this god forsaken wasteland?!

Suddenly I heard a loud bang enter my hear.

[You have been shot and have been given the [Bleeding] effect!]
