"So, let me just make this clear, you don't care if we know, you just don't want to know?" Mr. Beckett asked, and Andrew nodded.
"Oh, and I'd appreciate it if once you did know you didn't give me pitying looks every once in a while." Andrew told them and that seemed to horrify them all.
"What on earth do you take us for? Have you seen us do that? Max, have you done that to anyone before?" Mrs. Beckett demanded and Maxwell shook his head.
"I'm a little hurt. We don't hide those feelings. We're very upfront with them. You know that, Andrew." Maxwell did genuinely seem a little upset at Andrew's words and Andrew felt his body relax. It was hard for him to discuss this topic.
Even harder with people like Maxwell's family who were so heavily connected in a world he didn't understand. It made him nervous. Anxious. He knew information held power, and he just worried about what kind of trouble his information could get them into.
