After returning from Canada, the first job Sarah's agent arranged for her was not any acting job, but to move to another place.
According to Alan: "You are going to work in hollywood, and after your movie is released, there would definitely be many paparazzi's coming after you. Living with another male who isn't related to you in anyway would immediately create a scandal."
Sarah denied: "That's ridiculous. Frank is my guardian and he only comes to visit few times a month."
Alan didn't force his newly signed artist, but instead explained patiently: "But will those paparazzi believe it? No, they definitely won't. They only see the color they want, and most of the time it is black."
In hollywood, the most disliked group of people are paparazzi's. No matter whether it is an actor, actress, agent, director or producer, they all hate paparazzi. Paparazzi's reputation is so bad that everyone runs away even at the name of facing those vultures. They can even sell their soul to devil for a single fake news.
After "Juno" is released, no matter whether it will be a success or not, many paparazzi will come after Sarah. It won't take even a day for them to find that the apartment Sarah was living in belonged to another person who is not related to her. Especially since Sarah is a minor, it will even increase the chaos.
This time, Sarah didn't refute immediately. She needed to talk with Frank to understand things clearly.
In evening, when Sarah told Alan's words to Frank during the dinner, Frank didn't show any kind of anger as she thought he would, but instead praised Alan: "It's a good thing that he can see things this far. And no matter where you go, you should have the keys to the apartment. It can be used as a secret base to escape from media after you become a big star."
The last line was said in a joking manner, and it made Sarah laugh.
Frank acted quickly and within few days, he searched for many apartments with high privacy and security arrangementas. In the end, Sarah and Frank decided to go with the one in Saint Monica. It was luxurious apartment on 14th floor with two bedrooms and bathrooms, one living room, an open kitchen, and a balcony from where the whole hollywood nearby could be viewed. It had proper arrangementas of privacy and security. One of the reasons why they chose Saint Monica community was because, it was near Sarah's high school.
Sarah called her high school friend Jessica and they spent a week doing all the minor shopping from toiletries, curtains and decoration pieces to shoes and new clothes. Sarah replaced her whole wardrobe with new style clothes. As for the major furniture like bed, TV, refrigerator, etc, it was all ordered by Frank.
Looking at the apartment they decorated by themselves with satisfaction, the girls fell on the sofa exhausted.
Jessica complained: "Sarah, you are so lucky. You have your own apartment so early. I wish I could have my own too."
Sarah comforted in a joking tone: "Don't worry, you are just two years away. You have already dealt with it for sixteen years, two more won't do you any harm."
There was silence for a while, but then both girls started laughing loudly.
Jessica belongs to a strict traditional family. Despite living in LA and having huge wealth, the family follows the ways of Upper East Coast. They are strictly against girls living outside alone and don't like people from hollywood. The reason why Jessica could go out for so long today was because her family knew she was with Sarah. They were supportive of her being friends with Sarah after knowing that Sarah was from New York.
Jessica was the only friend Sarah made after coming to LA. Sarah was raised in New York and when she came to Los Angeles, she couldn't keep up the with the ways of West Coast in the beginning. She became an outliner in school, but maybe that's why she could become friends with Jessica who had the same non west coast upbringing as herself.
.....
The next morning, Sarah met Alan at his office in Caa.
Looking at the simple office around her, Sarah commented: "I though your office would on much lower floors."
In Caa, the offices of brokers are assigned on the basis of their level. At the top floors, there are big agents like Kevin Huvane, Bryan Lord, etc. The level of floor determines the agent's status in agency.
Alan's office is on 9th floor, which is on middle levels. This shows that he has some status in agency, at least better than those agents with nothing.
Hearing Sarah's words, Alan laughed: "It's only temporary. In future, it will depend on you whether it goes upward or straight down."
Alan stood up and took out the scripts he had collected in the mean time.
Sarah looked at the pile of scripts and raised her head in inquiry. When did she became famous enough to get so many scripts?
Alan understood the meaning, and explained: "Don't look at me like that, they are only for some supporting roles or lead roles in micro budget movies. See if you like any of them, otherwise we can only look for more outside Caa or simply wait for the release of the movie."
Although his client has worked as a lead actress in a movie, but the movie hasn't been released yet. No one knows what the outcome will be. Therefore, he could only collect some supporting roles in low budget movies.
