This novel is DOGBLOOD for women and anyone who can sympathize with a woman. If you’re a feminist, don’t like domestic violence, or simply don’t believe in the old patriarchal ways of a marriage, then skip this. The female lead is reborn. After briefly reading about her atrocious past life, you’re filled with the hope that she can live a better life. Well, I read up to the latest chapter (66) and we’re in for a rude awakening. If you want them to divorce, then you should stop reading because it’s highly unlikely they’ll divorce. Ever. Everyone is against her divorcing. Her own mother tells her to put up with him because he comes from a good family, has capacity and looks. He’s the best man and with his status she can’t expect him to be obedient (not cheat). She should bear with it. Of course, she gets benefits from his family so she wouldn’t want them to separate. She has no friends. Her family won’t help. His grandfather is like a grandpa to her, so she’s weak willed when it comes to what he wants. When she finally musters up the courage to ask for a divorce from him, he tells her no. He spews the whole ‘he’ll get better, you’re the only wife I acknowledge among a field of mistresses, and love will grow’ speech on her. Of course this was after the little (ML) man had a fit of rage and strangled her, and bit her on her neck to the point where she bled and could’ve had her artery bitten off. Cause domestic violence is really sexy. The male lead is utter trash both in the past and new timeline. He keeps several women on the side and when she wants to divorce him, he just wants to keep her as a toy. He tells her to face reality. Even if he’s cruel to her nobody will help her and she won’t get a divorce from him. Crushing her would be like an ant. He forces her to sleep with him, but she concedes because it’s her duty as a wife (one of the many instances of the patriarchal marriage ‘women must be obedient to men’ thought). It also has some scenes of ‘her mouth says something but her body is honest’. She really just wants freedom and happiness, but I’m not even sure she can accomplish that. The ML doesn’t want to let go, and she really has no way out. She’s not made out of money and everyone around her wants her to remain married. She’s truly stuck. Then she has to deal with this man-child’s constant tantrums. I pity her, but more the coins I spent for unlocking privilege. I’ve read enough stories to know that this man is going to be the male lead. She’s going to somehow fall back in love with him despite all the emotional and physical torture she’s had to endure.

MÖGENOh I wish I read your review before starting the story! It’s on the daily recommended and I thought it would be a good story of a woman forged in the fires of loss and abuse. I wanted to see her rise like a Phoenix and achieve her dreams. I couldn’t believe it as she just gave in to his every command after suffering the ultimate consequences of DV at his hands; miscarriage and her own death. I get so riled to see anyone try to normalise and romanticise partner abuse! For those of us who have escaped such a partner and lived to tell the tale, it’s not romantic. It’s not ok. And it’s no fantasy fairytale to make it work with a partner who tries to SA you when you “challenge his ego” by asking to divorce.
My thoughts exactly!! I live for stories of women fighting for their happiness and like you said, rising from the ashes. This story is not it. I pity the female lead because she truly isn’t in a good situation where she can just divorce or leave. The male lead is also irredeemable once he crossed the line and became an abuser. While yes he was cheating, he was with those women before she married him. So it wasn’t like this was new behavior. He was always a player. At that point, it was on her for thinking she could be his one and only. If it was just this, then perhaps he might have some redeemable qualities and his character could undergo growth and a serious transformation but not after that incident. It was pretty much swept under the rug after that too. It’s just disgusting writing and a poor mentality of the author.

No problem! I usually don’t review cause I’m lazy, but it really disgusted me to see the path this novel is taking. It’s on the list of the most toxic novels out there. I’m glad my coins were put to a good use, then. 😂
Phyfie:Thank you so much for your review. I was just about to start this. (definitely changed my mind now). also thanks for spending the coins so we wouldn't have to.image

I really don't know why the author dragged out the FL's torture. It is a simple matter to get proof of infidelity and get a divorce. I just hope that at the end she tells him of her previous life and death then walks away. But I know she will not leave him in the end. 😭😭😭 Why are we women so dumb & stupid😭😭😭
