that's literally the point of his character at the start, a wannabe edge lord whose only struggle is that he didn't train harder he is supposed to make you cringe because he never struggled with anything and only felt jealous that the plot made Gohan stronger than him. He may be overpowered but his current mindset will be his undoing, that is why everything felt the way it did, because reality is going f<ck him up and either kill him or make him stronger
