Also the Clans are their own independent forces.
Wut? No it isn't, both empires are about the same and Spirit Hall is it's own independent area right in the middle. Has author even seen the map for Soul Land 1?
Blue Ocean over Vast Sea? I don't buy it. Vast Sea has a freaking auction house among other things.
Two things, first I think it was mentioned that you can still accumulate energy even after reaching a bottleneck you just can't go past that level until you get a ring. Secondly, if by now his first ring isn't purple he might as well quit life and try again.

Is she? Reliable I mean.
It doesn't really, this is just how these stories are. In a more realistic setting, such long lived and powerful elders would be more cautious and cunning rather than arrogant, otherwise they likely wouldn't be elders as no sect master or ancestor would want to raise incompetent lackeys to positions of power and end up making enemies that they need not deal with bothering their cultivation when they should be focusing on seeking further breakthroughs to extend their lives.
If he really wanted to stop things from escalating further, MC would have secretly gone by himself to the heads of the forces his Clan offended and demonstrated his cultivation either by beating them or simply showing off his power. At that point those forces would have backed off under the command of their leaders who would be the only ones who know how unprofitable it would be to make such a foe into a full on enemy. This would have also served to keep his cultivation hidden as those bosses wouldn't spread it to avoid looking bad and it would also prevent the MC from dislodging local forces attracting the attention of even stronger foes from outside.
