Yu-Gi-Oh GX: Ryuto's Path! (Dropped)

Kanazaki Ryuto, a depressed young man burdened by the circumstances life has dealt him, suddenly and without apparent explanation, finds himself in a strange reality where everything around him seems to exist in two dimensions, like in a cartoon. To make matters even stranger, the boy now attends some kind of remote academy in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, an institution where it's the norm to teach its students how to play a peculiar card game, a card game that Ryuto quickly recognizes as the one called "Duel Monsters" from the animated series: Yu-Gi-Oh! GX. In this rather anticlimactic manner, Ryuto, mostly a taciturn and negative being, discovers a new purpose in life apart from the pessimistic trope, 'everything is a disaster waiting to happen,' a spark to give it his all, to find his way back home, because if there's one thing Ryuto is convinced of, it's that escaping from reality is never the answer to anything, even if the fantasy he's experiencing may seem so grand. Nursing Academy Hallways

While Ryuto was grappling with his new circumstances, on the other side of the door, in the hallways of the Nursing Academy, a rather peculiar conversation had taken place several minutes ago among all those present, namely, the four doctors, the nurse, Director Samejima, and finally, Professor Daitokuji.

"What was the boy doing before he passed out?"

It was Director Samejima's first question, barely after everyone had left the room. Naturally, each member of the medical staff present at the institution was the one being questioned. His expression did not display the typical smiling face but rather a stern and annoyed demeanor.

On the other hand, Professor Daitokuji showed a visibly curious expression at the intriguing development of the scenario right before his eyes.

"He said he couldn't remember anything, and I decided that—"

It was the incomplete response from one of the doctors present in the room, the tall, robust doctor who had examined Ryuto earlier. It was incomplete because before he could even finish his sentence satisfactorily, he was abruptly interrupted by the raised hand of the doctor in charge.

"The patient is under observation. All questions will be answered in the report once student Kanazaky has completed his rehabilitation."

It was the firm intervention of the doctor in charge. The rest of the medical staff wisely averted their gaze from the director.

The director, noting the medical staff's reluctance to provide answers about the current case, decided to let the matter rest for the time being.

It was then that Professor Daitokuji stepped forward to address his more pressing needs. A tired yawn escaped his lips in the process.

"Well, doctors, director, I think it's time for us to part ways. I still need to prepare dinner for my students, hehe. 7:23 p.m. Those poor kids must be really hungry at this time of night. Say goodbye to young Ryuto for me, director. I'll probably end up visiting him later. Well, good night, everyone, and don't forget that Ryuto hasn't eaten anything since morning, alright?"

Everyone bid farewell to the professor subsequently. The nurse fervently assured the professor that she would feed Ryuto soon.

That's how Professor Daitokuji ended up leaving the Nursing Academy hallway. At some point in the process, a plump tabby cat began lazily following him from the side.

Returning to the conversation between Director Samejima and the medical staff in the hallway, the bald leader still had a few more things to clarify, but the moment soon proved to be ill-suited for it, much to his eternal torment.

"Like Professor Daitokuji said, it's late, director. Perhaps you should come back in the morning. Good night. I'll bid farewell to student Kanazaky. Everyone, let's return to the room."

Resigned, Director Samejima could only watch as the medical staff retreated from his consultation to the room where his recovering student currently resided.

"Sigh."

After a long sigh of frustration, the director, just as Professor Daitokuji had done only a few seconds earlier, definitively left the Nursing Academy hallway. Throughout the process, he couldn't help but bitterly reflect on the terrible mistrust shown by his staff toward him. He could only assume, bitterly, how poorly his predecessor had treated those in his position.
