Yu-Gi-Oh GX: It's Time to DUEL!

You know, waking up in another world was very mind-blowing to Ken. But what's more mind-blowing is that card games were the main bread winner method of making money. He got isekai-ed into Yu-Gi-Oh. That's really cool, working and getting fat stacks by playing a children's card game. There was just one slight problem. He wasn't a pro in the real world or anything. He was just a rogue deck Platinum player that hit his peak in Plat 4 on Master Duel just a month ago. Haha... He's so dead.

CHAPTER 4

His next two matches were a piece of cake, especially with [Double Summon] and [Fairy Tail - Luna] to easily tribute summon his boss monster for his casual deck, [Caius the Mega Monarch].

This card was already in his collection since he came to this universe, so he kept it until now. Plus, it's a good card for ordinary plebs.

Now it was the quarterfinals, and they gave the contestants an hour break before continuing, and he was starving.

Unfortunately (But very easily known), Tizu lost his first match, meaning it was up to him to carry his school. Quickly eating his onigiri that he made (Thank god he knew how to cook before coming into this world, thank you, Joshua Weissman), he quickly took out his [Darklord] deck before changing some things.

He noticed that most people don't play GY card effects, so he took out [Called by the Grave] in favor of [Forbidden Droplet] for extra reassurance. People in this era at least play more effect monsters than he thought.

Checking his deck once last time, he was satisfied with his current deck before slotting them into the deck zone of the Duel Disk.

Waiting at the same hall, he noticed that the white 7x4 meter zones were now reduced to only 8 left, which made him rather impressed at the quickness of the staff.

Adjusting the metal straps of the Duel Disk since it was quite uncomfortable, he mentally noted to go online for some pads or something to make it more comfortable on his hand when the MC from before, DX, came to the stage and gave his speech.

"Hello, everyone, and congrats to all the current 8 players. We will now hold our quarterfinals!"

Pressing a button, the screen above the stage started to show each of their names and respective numbers. They started to shift until names were paired with each other randomly.

While looking at the names to get an idea of the brackets, he sighed when he saw none that he recognized.

Shaking his head, he quickly went to the dueling zone since he was in the first duel of the quarterfinals. Activating his Duel Disk, he calls heads on the coin flip again.

DING~

The coin landed and hit tails. Unfortunate, he lost it.

"DUEL!"

"My turn, I draw!"

He stylishly drew his card, extending his hand fully before staring at his hand. He stared at them for a moment to think of a good move before starting his turn.

"I summon [Summoner Monk] (800/1600) in Defense Position as its first effect makes it change its position!"

A blue skinned monk with purple robes appeared with an ATK was 800 and DEF was 1600.

"His second effect activates! Once per turn, I can discard 1 spell..."

He drops a card into his GY.

"I can special summon 1 level 4 monster from my deck, but that monster cannot attack this turn!"

Thumbing through his deck, he takes out a card before playing it.

"I special summon [Zombyra the Dark] (2100/500)!"

A demon with a bright red robe summoned onto the field with a shine of white, roaring with a menacing glare.

"I then set one card faced down before ending my turn!"

Ken looked at the current board with some satisfaction. Finally, a good move from this era. Drawing a card for his turn, he stares at his deck before sighing.

One finally good opponent and he had a god hand, sometimes good things can't come to good people. Ugh, stupid weird hand power that makes Banishment always be in his hand...

"I summon [Indulged Darklord] (1600/0) in Attack Position."

Weirdly enough, [Indulged Darklord] summoned with black and gray visual effects instead of the normal white shine of light. [Indulged Darklord]'s right sole wing flapped as she floated with a praying gesture, her red halo glowing red ominously.

"Her effect activates! I can take two [Darklord] cards in my deck. I add 1 to my hand, while I add the other one to your field."

Taking the two cards, they both walked to the middle as Ken gives the card to his opponent. They then move back to their respective zones.

Begrudgingly, his opponent places it in face up Defense Position, the card revealing to be [Capricious Darklord] (0/1600). Ken then showed the card that he kept, [Darklord Morningstar] (3000/3000), his second boss monster that he needed for his combo.

"Now, I use my spell card, [Banishment of the Darklords] to get [Darklord Superbia] (2900/2400) from my deck to my hand."

Showing him the card, he gets all his pieces for his combo. Choosing a card from his hand, he places it into the spell/zone slot of the Duel Disk.

"I activate [Polymerization]."

Behind Ken, a purple and blue void-like portal started spiraling behind him, wind blowing towards him as he continued.

"I use [Darklord Morningstar], [Indulged Darklord], and [Darklord Superbia] as fusion material. Come forth, [The First Darklord] (4000/4000)!"

Three beams of light from his field and hand flew up into the sky before entering the portal, spinning and converging into the middle before [The First Darklord] appeared from the portal in his glory.

Floating with his 6 pair of wings, he descended from the portal with a cold gaze. The moment his feet touched the ground, Ken suddenly felt chills under his spine when [The First Darklord] turned slightly to meet his eyes for just a second before facing his opponent with his weapons high.

"4-4000 Attack and Defense! That's higher than a [Blue Eyes]!"

His opponent gasps in shock as Ken snaps out of it. That was super weird, who knew that Industrial Illusions had such advance animations that made him scared of his own card?

"Ahem, [The First Darklord]'s effect activates! If this card is fusion summoned using [Darklord Morningstar] as material, I can destroy all cards you control!"

"What?!"

His opponent gives another gasp as The First Darklord raised his sword upwards into the sky.

"Wait! I use my face down, [Bottomless Trap Pit] — "

"It won't work! All my Fairy type monsters can not be effected by card effects when [The First Darklord] is present, including him!"

Dark magic swords filled the sky, threatening to release downwards at a moment's notice. [The First Darklord] swung his sword down, the swords in the air falling down on every card his opponent currently had on the field. He swore he could see [The First Darklord] smirk at the cry of shock of his opponent!

SHATTER!

The cards shattered into light pieces as Ken reminded.

"Ahem, since [Capricious Darklord] is my card, it goes to my GY instead of yours."

Walking to the middle once more, he could see his opponent's dead eyes during the transfer.

Returning back, he ends the duel.

"Battle! [The First Darklord], attack directly!"

Swinging his sword to the side, [The First Darklord] burst from his place as he appeared in front of his opponent before slashing him with a diagonal slash, ignoring his cry as his Life Points plummeted to 0.

???'s LP: 4000 → 0

A one turn kill, something that even shocked him when he found the combo before the tournament.

"Participant Yusou Ken won by just one turn! That was spectacular! Not even high level duelists have such a devastating turn before!"

Oh, right, he forgot about the commentators.

Deactivating his Duel Disk, he quickly walked away from the stares of the people in the hall.

Inside an office in Domino City...

"That was awesome! He just won in one turn. One turn!"

Jonouichi said with some surprise as he looked at his friends for any reaction. Heh, even as his best friend of so many years, calling his Katsuya feels wrong, so he'll stick with the most comforting.

It's been almost 5 years since Atem left for the afterlife, and the group that were in the ruins during Atem and his duel came to become close friends.

Even though they have their work, they meet up pretty often, once a month or two to share details about their life since most of them had interesting jobs.

"He is quite impressive, Jonouichi, but any one of you guys could do that too. Well, except for you of course."

"What did you say?!"

Jonouichi questioned with annoyance as Mokuba sips his tea.

And how much had he grown! He's now almost as tall as Jonouichi, studying in the prestigious Japan International College that may or may not be allegedly funded by Seto, no matter how much he denies it.

"Hmph! The boy only got to fusion due to his luck! If I were him, I'd summon my [Blue Eyes Chaos MAX Dragon] (4000/0) along with my other [Blue Eyes] already in my first turn."

Seto scoffed as he sighs. Even as an adult, Seto really loves proving himself, even to this day. Heck, his whole company revolves around him being the best in the world. He does respect it, but sometimes it's a little annoying to hear the same words over and over again, especially since he was working for Seto.

"Now, now, Seto. I know you can, but you have to admit, summoning a 4000 ATK and DEF monster in his first turn takes some skill and planning, nothingless being only 12. That proves that he has the potential to be something great."

He said to Seto, to which he responded by keeping quiet, glaring at the screen as he watches the boy walk away from the camera, his mind remembering back to the old days.

"So this is the one..."

He will watch his duels more in the future. If this person was "that man" from the future, then he will watch him closely.
