Slowly opening the door, Ember peered outside, but the surroundings were devoid of any presence. Anticipation fueled her steps as she explored nearby rooms in search of Adrien.
Then she stumbled upon a closed door. Adrien's voice emanated from within, "Father, why did you call me here?" Unwilling to eavesdrop on their conversation, Ember turned back toward her room. However, her steps halted when she heard her name being mentioned.
"Don't I tell you to stay away from that girl? What is her name?" Adrien's father questioned. "Ember. Her name is Ember," Adrien replied. The mention of her name compelled Ember to linger, even though she wished to avoid the conversation.
"Father, didn't I tell you that she is my friend?" Adrien defended.
"I tell you to stay away from girls and focus on your career, but you did it again," his father admonished. Adrien, not backing down, retorted, "Did I not tell you that she is just my friend? Or are you talking about Marinette?"
"Yes, I am talking about Dupain-Cheng. You don't follow my orders, and now you've found a new one in just two years," his father shouted, expressing his frustration.
"I told you before, and I am telling you now. Marinette is just my friend, and about Ember, she is..." Adrien paused, contemplating his words.
"Look, you need to stop. Did you start having feelings for her?" his father questioned, moving closer to Adrien. "My son, you can do great things in the future, but your foolish hobbies of being an inventor and your friends are holding you back," he added, patting Adrien's shoulder.
"But, Father..." Adrien began, his words trailing off. "I hope we can talk again calmly," his father suggested. Hearing footsteps, Ember swiftly ran back to her room.
Adrien rushed out of the room, running towards his own and slamming the door shut. Ember observed him entering the room next to hers.
Desiring to give Adrien some time, Ember waited patiently. Eventually, she couldn't resist and hurried to Adrien's room, knocking gently, "Knock, knock!"
"I'm not in the mood to talk right now, Nathalie," Adrien responded. Ember sensed his distress and gently opened the door, saying, "It's me, Ember. Adrien."
He turned, wiping away tears, and at the sight of Ember, his expression shifted from sadness to joy. Rushing forward, Adrien embraced her tightly. Ember rubbed his back soothingly, assuring him, "It's okay. Everything will be alright." Adrien, overwhelmed, hugged her even tighter, tears streaming down his face. Ember comforted him until he regained composure, struggling to contain her own emotions.
"I'm okay now," Adrien finally uttered, looking at Ember. As she inched closer, the look on her face and the sound of her fast heartbeat made him blush. Hastily, Adrien moved and sat next to her, creating an awakened atmosphere once again.
Ember, determined to change the mood, took a deep breath and said with a smile, "I am here to talk to you." The air lightened as they began a conversation, seeking to understand and support each other in the midst of emotional turmoil.
