He returned the gift to the receiver.
"Just open it without uttering one more word," he warned and Yul obliged. He did not try guessing any further and unwrapped the covering. A velvet-covered box was inside. Yul opened it slowly.
It was a lion head necklace.
The silver centre head sporting a face of the beast had a mane around it. A small hook at the top had a chain pulled through it.
Zeng had taken an hour to choose it from the extensive varieties of jewellery in the shop because gifting zodiac sign animal heads was a thing these days.
Yul didn't blink as he looked at the locket, his eyes practically sparkling as the silver reflected in them. He picked up the pendant and graced his thumb over it.
"I was thinking of choosing a puppy or piggy because it resembled you more," Zeng teased, coming closer to take another look at it and poked Yul's cheek.
"Then why choose lion?" Yul asked at a loss of words.
"Because you are a Leo."
"But you don't believe in zodiacs."
