Indecisive.

Chapter 15

She sat outside the field with her hat laid next to her, the sun blazing over her sweaty forehead.

The acceptance letter between her fingers, made her think if the decision she was about to make the right thing, was she going to regret it later? Would she be accepted with open arms if she decides to go there after a few years? Doubts flooding her mind, she loved Basaam and wanted to be with him, she wanted a life away from the paparazzi a quiet life. Fame was all she desired once upon a time, but it’s not what she wanted anymore.

She hid the letter away watching her husband to be walk towards her with a cold bottle of water, “ here you go.”

“ jazakallah, today’s my last day. I tried making the most of it… but to be honest it’s a lot more difficult than I thought it would be.”

“No one said it’ll be easy, even if you lost love for the sport it will always be in your heart… you put in almost everything you had to accomplish what you have… of course it's difficult.”

“I needed to hear that, I’m actually still very much in love with the sport, but my intention as to why I play it has changed over the years. I need to give myself space and find out who I am without cricket.”

“ I will always support you, now drink up and rush over you still have an hour left.”

Bassam knew that watching Daneen leave the sport broke him more than the day he had to forcefully quit. He always knew that the only reason he played was to be around her, and over the years stayed just to find out who she is… and now he gets to marry her.

“ where are you going?” she asks walking towards me.

“ I have a business trip for the next few weeks…” I say grabbing my bag

“didn’t you have one last week as well? Cant I come with you? I do have a few shares in the business now… “

“you should stay home, summers almost in and you need to keep up with the latest trends.”

“if you insist,” she says walking away. I’m sorry but this I can’t forget easily. I took out the car driving towards a city nearby, yes I am an addict. I’m addicted to gambling, and because of this, my company has been at a standstill for ages… there isn’t much of me that’s left… but no matter how hard I try... It’s easier said than done.

“ you mean he went out again, without a valid reason!” Daneen yells banging the table, “give me the address, he’ll be getting a visit from me.”

“ can you relax,” I say pulling her back, “ she needs your comfort, not your threats?”

She sat back down gulping down the three glasses of ice waters set out on the table. It wasn’t easy watching the youngest amongst us hurt.

“ I’m sure he is on a business trip.”

“you're probably right, I should trust him.”

After comforting her I went over to the hospital. I was given more complex and confusing cases compared to what I dealt with on a daily back at the public clinic.
