"Are you going to stare, or give your dear aunt a hug."
Shocked and confused Erin stood with her feet glued to the ground.
"Let's talk at a less crowded place, shall we?"
K wanted to speak privately due the sensitivity of the matter at hand. She'd hoped Erin would take the not so new news better, but she turned into a mute almost immediately.
After a bit of disagreement from Jess the trio ended up in a spare room provided by the ever gracious host of the 'business event'.
"I must be cursed or something, all my ghosts are coming back to haunt me.." Erin mumbled to herself but it was loud enough for the fuming Jess to hear and send a daring glare at K.
"I assure you I am no ghost, but I did almost die on that day."
K sat on a chair in a room that seems to be a study, across from her on a two seater couch was Erin along with Jess who knew not to meddle in this but you could feel the killing intent coming from her.
"Give me a one reason why I shouldn't off her right now Erin, I can't believe you're buying this, she's manipulating you, like she does with everyone."
Jess tried reasoning with Erin. She tried to get her too see her point of view on this.
Jess knew K, she knew K never did anything without a plan and 5 other plans if the first failed which NEVER happened before.
K couldn't just casually show up without having a motive, something was definately up and Jess wasn't going to risk Erin's life just so K could have a little family reunion.
"You still think you're capable of protecting her, Jess?" K honestly asked, curious.
"Don't you DARE.." Jess lunged at K with a knife she'd had on her. (in case exactly this happens.)
"Enough!... Stop it." Erin finally spoke.
Jess looked at her with disbelief, she thought why would Erin be taking K's side.. unless what she said is true and she really is her aunt.
The door opened only to reveal... Natasha, behind her was Sebastian, Erin's assistant and overall idiot.
"I see the extraction went smoothly. We have a lot to discuss Sebastian." K said after she saw them enter.
"Well looky what we have here, you look great boss, super classy." Sebastian commented.
"You don't get to talk, now sit." Natasha pushed him to a seat close to K, which caused him to shake in fear.
"Explain everything, now." Erin held the bridge of her nose, clearly nearing her breaking point.
Jess was surprised at how calm Erin was to the whole situation. Her 'aunt' who apparently is supposed to be dead is alive and is also the person that raised her, Erin's best friend is working with K for whatever reason.
Sebastian... why was he even here?
"Let's get started." K gestured for Natasha to sit down.
"Before you ask. Yes Jess, I really am her aunt. For you Erin, I'm not dead because someone wanted me alive, who it is I cannot tell you now but later--"
Jess scoffed. "Yeah right, we're supposed to believe anything you say."
"Let me speak, decide if you believe it or not when I'm finished, now shut up and sit down."
Jess glared at K before complying, she knew what the woman could do to a man in 15 seconds, she'd rather not get her angry.
"We're all here because we are not what the world thinks we are. Sebastian, you're the bastard child of Erick Shaw, you felt that your sister Erin over here owed you a life you never had, therefore you want revenge against her. A ridiculous plan by the way."
Sebastian flinched when she mocked his revenge plan.
Everyone was surprised at the sudden bomb that got dropped. Natasha thought it was somewhat hilarious as she started laughing at Sebastian.
Erin just gained another family member, one that she never knew existed. Well there's the son my father wanted so bad. She thought to herself.
Erin knew she should freak out or something, but she didn't really care. She never knew Sebastian, she owed him nothing, how could she ruin his life if he never existed in hers.
Jess was the most shocked at the revelation. "How are they related? Please tell me this one's a lie, no way Erin is family with this idiot."
Sebastian who dared not speak just rolled his eyes.
"Moving on, Natasha. You were at the wrong place and wrong time along with your brother, Nathan. He got taken by a rival of mine and you wanted to find him so you came to me in hopes of finding him, he is fine by the way. Nex---"
"What?! You know when he is?" Natasha shot up from her seat.
At this point K was losing her patience. She said nothing and just gave Natasha a look that made her keep quiet and listen like the rest.
"Next is the orphan Jess Van Triess, well your real name is or was... Anastasia Romanov. The daughter of a well known, reputable family that made a deal with very bad people after their son passed away from an illness. Then they died in a 'mysterious' car crash not long after, leaving their only child alive, you."
Erin took her attention away from K and look to Jess. Jess showed absolutely no emotion or even a trace of being affected by this information.
"You already knew about this?" Erin tried to get through to the unresponsive Jess.
"Yes, and as Natasha put it so perfectly, I'm the reason my parents are dead." Jess laughed without a trace of humour in her voice.
"I guess I was born a killer, right? K here just directed me to which ones to kill after 'rescuing' me."
" I followed orders as any good soldier did, I never failed once to 'liberate' their souls. Then I thought no, I'm not a bad person she is, she made me into this... this monster!"
Jess was breathing heavily and glaring at K with unshed tears in her eyes.
"We're done here, no more talking Amelia. I'm taking Jess home."
K knew there was no changing Erin's mind, she was like her mother, stubborn.
She nodded and handed Erin a note with an address on it and told her they'll all continue this at a more.... suitable time.
----------
"We have to talk." Erin tried to reason with Jess who was ignoring her.
"I'm done talking Erin." Jess replied irritated.
What was supposed to be a semi formal business event turned out to be a messed up family meeting that involved having someone you hate spill your darkest secrets to two people you don't know and the one person you love.
So Jess was obviously not too chatty.
She changed out of her clothes and into a black hoodie and black leggings.
Raiding the kitchen for something to eat she found nothing that was readymade so pizza was her go to.
Feeling a restless shadow behind her she turned around to see Erin shifting from one foot to the other, playing with the hem of her shirt and having a complex look on her face.
"Which one you want, cheese only or thin base?" Jess asked the anxious looking girl infront of her.
Erin moved closer to her, trapping Jess with her back to the kitchen counter.
"You said no talking so I thought of a way to say what I feel without talking."
Jess looked at Erin without saying anything for a few seconds before replying.
"Fine go ahead, what is it Charades or is---"
Erin cut her sentence.
Jess's eye's rounded in shock, she went numb for a second then she felt jolts of electricity throughout her body.
She lost herself in the familiar feeling she'd long forgotten. Gaining control of her own body she held Erin close.
She returned the kiss that was slowly turning into a less innocent one. Only when air became needed did either of them pull away.
Jess still had her arms around Erin's waist, their faces were close. Erin looked into Jess's eye's for a reaction.
A knock on the door made them come back into reality, Jess let Erin go and Erin mentally went from one to ten how awkward she'd make everything after this.
"Pizza's here!"
