In the Same Meeting

The next day, the whole class for the History of Music course was busy with their essays which needed to be submitted to their lecturer, Professor Kang. Some were about to start doing their work, while others were almost done with their essays.

One of those who were done was Diana. She quickly uploaded her essay file to Google Docs before e-mailing it to Professor Kang.

Once it was sent via e-mail, Professor Kang began to examine her essay thoroughly, until…

"Diana Xiang!"

Her name was called out from the lecturer's desk, so Diana got up from her seat to see what is wrong.

"Yes, Professor. Is everything okay?" She began the conversation.

"First of all, I must say that your piece is so remarkable. You are doing fantastically, except…when I looked at some of the sentences here, there were some spelling and grammatical errors found," she said. Although she was satisfied with Diana's efforts in finishing it, there were some mistakes regarding the Korean language.

However, Diana tried her best to make the essay as perfect as possible, even if her Korean language skills were not up to par. Although she once learned Korean at home in Malaysia, it was not her primary language before moving to South Korea. So, she apologized, "Oh, right. I'm so sorry, Prof. It's just…I'm still studying Korean in the meantime, so I can say that I struggled during the process."

"Very well, dear. Anyways, great job, and keep improving," said Professor Kang. After listening to what Diana had explained to her, she finally understood. Diana then returned to her seat to do more corrections on her essay.

Time passed, and Diana was at lunch in the cafeteria with Danial. It looked like his classes were dismissed early, so he decided to join his sister for lunch.

"Are there any assignments that need to be done, Diana?" Danial began the conversation.

"Yeah, just the essay for the History of Music. I tried so hard to make it look perfect, but there are always mistakes detected by Professor Kang, especially regarding the Korean spelling and grammar. Is Korean that hard?" Diana was somehow tired of all the remarks she received every time she made mistakes in her writing.

Danial then understood her complaints, saying, "Well, that's how a student's struggle looks like, Diana. You just need a little patience, that's all. Do you have any more classes after this?"

"No, I don't. But I do have a-"

KA-TALK!

Diana's words were then cut off when a Kakao Talk notification sound popped up on her phone. So, she went to open the app to read whose message was sent to her. Turned out, it was from Justin, and it read: "The National Taekwondo Championship meeting will start at 3 p.m in the faculty's lobby. Don't be late."

After reading the message, Diana remembered what happened yesterday. "Oh, right! I gave Justin the details of joining the Taekwondo club. I guess I have to rush," she thought.

Once she finished her meal, she quickly got up from her seat and said to Danial, "I'll see you later. I have something to take care of."

"Okay, see you at home!" Danial replied. For some reason, he got confused with Diana's behaviour. It's as if there's something that keeps his twin sister busy.

Later, when she finally arrived at the main lobby, she could see there were a lot of students gathering. She assumed they were also from the Taekwondo Club, so she decided to join them.

While she was looking for somewhere to sit, two girls approached her. "Hi, you must be a new member of the Taekwondo club too, right?" One of them said. Diana nodded.

"That's brilliant! My name is Eun-ha, from the Department of Social Welfare."

"And I am So-Jung, from the Department of Counselling Psychology. Pleased to meet you."

Diana was thrilled to meet new friends from different departments. But best of all, she got to have those with similar interests. So, she introduced herself to the girls, "Nice to meet both of you. I'm Diana, from the Department of Entertainment & Media."

"Hi, Diana. So, I'm guessing you are here because you want to participate in the National Taekwondo Championship, right?" Eun-ha said. She was wondering if Diana came to the meeting for the same purpose.

"Oh yeah, you guessed it. Plus, my friend said that his friends are from this club. So, I feel like it's worth a shot," she replied.

"Brilliant! Oh, look! The club leaders are here. Let's go find a place to sit," So-Jung.

Meanwhile, three male students and one female student showed up in front of nearly 50 members of the university's Taekwondo Club. The whole atmosphere turned silent when they were about to respectively introduce themselves. But of course, their hearts were filled with excitement.

"Hello, and good afternoon to all Taekwondo Club members. My name is Park Kyung-min, a Year 4 student in the Department of Sports & Health, and I'm the president of GCU's Taekwondo Club. First of all, I would like to welcome the newcomers to this club and thank you for joining us this semester. Also, welcome back to the old members. Now, let's move on to meet the Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Guys, please introduce yourselves."

"Greetings, everyone! My name is Kim Na-Yeon, a Year 4 student in the Department of Social Welfare, and I'm the Vice President of this club."

"Hello, everyone! My name is Justin Jeon Min-Gyu, a Year 3 student in the Department of Entertainment & Media, and I'm the Secretary of this club."

"Good afternoon, everyone! My name is Lee Jae-Geun, a Year 3 student in the Department of AI Convergence, and I'm the Treasurer of this club. Nice to meet you all."

All of the club members were over the moon to meet the stunning club leaders because they were the top taekwondo athletes of Global Cyber University. Who could deny that they were the previous champions of the past Taekwondo championships? Most of the members were their biggest fans.

Of course, Eun-ha and So-Jung were among those who were excited. "OMG! Kyung-min looks so stunning!" Eun-ha said, with her eyes shining brightly.

"I know, right? Also, Justin looks so handsome now. If any girl decides to date him, she's lucky," said So-Jung. At some point, she was dreaming about dating Justin one day.

However, behind the happiness among the club members, Diana was one of those who was surprised to see their friend as one of the club leaders. "Wait! Justin? He is the Secretary of this club? No way!" She had no idea her boyfriend was one of them.

Suddenly, her eyes met Justin's. She then mouthed her words saying, "Why didn't you tell me?" But all Justin could do was place his index finger on his lips as a sign for her to stay silent during the meeting. Diana then pouted her lips in dissatisfaction, followed by her arms crossed. Justin chuckled nervously, then made a sign saying he was sorry.

On the other hand, Kyung-min continued his words, "Thank you for the introduction, guys. Alright, as we know, there will be a championship being held at our university, known as the National Taekwondo Championship among universities and high schools. According to the championship rules, each team will consist of 5 members minimum to 15 members maximum. So far, the four of us registered for this as participants and seniors in charge of guiding you. Therefore, if you are interested in participating, you can come and fill in the details needed in this form right here, and stay here for further explanation from us. Others, on the other hand, can be dismissed. Thank you."

After the speech ended, almost 10 of the club members got up to go to the club leaders' desk to register for the championship. Diana, too, was there to do so. But as she was about to pick up a blue pen available on the desk, Na-Yeon said to her, "Oh, you don't have to fill it again, because you are already listed. Just sit there and wait for it to settle."

"Oh, okay," said Diana. She looked relieved at first, but in reality, she was somewhat confused. Later, she sat back on the floor, waiting for the elaboration about the championship.

"I'm guessing Justin is behind this. That explains why he asked for the required details yesterday," she thought.
