Chapter 5

May's POV

Today is turning out to be good, and to actually believe that I thought it was going to be a bad day,I thought to myself as I walk into the school cafeteria for lunch.

"May, over here" said Isabella immediately she spotted me among the crowd of students in the cafeteria.

"Hi, Izzy" I said as I sat on the seat beside Isabella

"Oh May, am sorry for what happened to Karen, poor Karen, I am so sorry, she's such a nice lady, she's actually among the few cool ladies around, I am so sorry, how is she?, Is she getting better ?, What of her kids?,...... " She continues talking and i know from experience that she could go on forever.

"Woah izzy, slow down, take a deep breath. Woah ,If someone overheard your apology they will think you are cause of what happened to Karen" I reply half joking to Izzy so as to avoid talking about Karen accident which is painful for me to talk about because I consider Karen as an older sister.

"Come on, don't joke like that, I know what she means to you" replied Izzy with pity.

And if there's anything I hate more than my father's absentees, it's being pitied, I have had enough of it almost all my life from people after her father left. I have had enough to last me a life time. I don't need more.

"Where's Alex ? " I asked in an attempt to change the conversation

Alex is also my best friend, we have all known each other since kindergarten. And Alex is a cheerleader. Just like April.

"She can't make it for lunch,she has cheer practise"

"Is the practice for the whole squad?" I ask zooming in on a very surprisingly unnerving scene.

"Yes, why do you ask? "

"Is it me or is that Brittany the captain of the cheer quad throwing herself at Ben"

"oh my goodness, where are they? " asked Izzy looking around the cafeteria trying to locate them

"Where else but the football players table" I replied rolling my eyes.

"Gee, that confirms it" said Izzy as though she that known all along

"Confirms what? " I asked totally confused

"The rumour" said Izzy as she continues to stare at the couple

"What rumour?" I asked with confusion written all over her face

"oh my Gosh, haven't you heard that they are dating?" Izzy states as if she couldn't believe that I haven't heard the rumour. As if I am usually well informed. As if.

"No wonder. That explains it." I unknowingly blurt out

" no wonder what? " Izzy asked eyeing me suspiciously

" nothing" I replied

" No, you don't, you can't just say something without completing it leaving me all confused and bothered"

"Fine" I say raising my hands in surrender "I saw them at the park yesterday"

"Oh my goodness, oh my goodness I am so posting this" Izzy said as she reached for her laptop in her bag and starts typing.

OH. Did I forget to mention that my best friend Isabella is the school's most famous blogger. She blogs about everything going on in the school including school announcement and juicy gossip.

Ben POV

Although I didn't see her, I felt her presence immediately she entered the cafeteria, so I look around and spot her at the entrance, I wanted to ask her to come sit with me at the footballers table but she got called by her friend Isabella aka miss know it all, at least that's what my friend Clyde calls her and am starting to believe him, I mean how is it possible she knows everything that's going on in school like how does she knows who's dating who, who dumped who, who is cheating on who, blah blah blah----- stuffs like that, how does she knows all that.

" hey guys" Brittany greeted the whole team

"Hey, Benny boo" she said to me

"Hey, Brittany"

I clench my jaw. I hate it when she calls me Benny boo, but I don't want to be too rude in public so I just let it be. I am going to have a talk with her in private about it. Like I always,but am definitely sure she won't listen. I am 89% sure she's deaf or maybe she has selective hearing. Always picking what she wants from a conversation and ignoring the rest

" Hey dude,check out Izzy's table" said Tobias, one of the footballers

" yeah, what is it? " I ask curiously because May is sitting there

"Isabella is about to post something on her blog " Tobias said as he reached for his phone to confirm on her blog.

"How do you know that " I asked him

"Cause she's using her laptop, which she only use for posting on her blog" he states in a "duh" voice.

And on cue notification sounds from all the phones in the cafeteria goes off

"Wow, dude check it out" said James the goalkeeper

" What is it? " Brittany asked

"She said that you guys are dating " James said looking at Brittany and me "dude why didn't you guys say anything "

Brittany starts blushing. Which made the whole team say stuff like "wow" "I did not see that coming " good catch Ben"

"We are not dating " I said causing Brittany to flinch

" But it says here that you guys went on a date in the park yesterday " James replied with a smirk

"We didn't -"I started saying but stop which they saw as confirmation, and they all congratulate us

We did go to the park but not on a date we went there because Brittany's brother, a friend of mine wanted me to give her the keys to my family's cabin which he wants to makes use of, for a romantic dinner with his girlfriend.

But they didn't need to know that. Besides how did Isabella know we were at the park together yesterday. How did she know don't know,I mean nobody saw us at - "shit " I mutter under my breath. May was there yesterday,she saw us at the park. She could have thought we were on,a date. Fuck. This is not good.

May's POV

I watched as the whole footballers congratulate Ben and Brittany on their relationship and Brittany accepts their congratulations as if she was receiving an award. I guess Izzy is correct seeing as Ben didn't dispute or deny -

"April and May Sheridan,please report to the principal's office right now" announced the secretary through the school's overhead speaker

A million questions start to run my head right now.

Why is the principal asking of me and my sister

What did we do?

I was momentarily confused. Then it hit me like an unexpected punch to the guts.

Oh my god is it Karen

Oh my gush it is Karen

I immediately run to the principal's office, I was joined by May. We both walked into the principal's office and were greeted by the sight of our senior sister Summer, who is supposed to be in collage, in tears.

"Its Karen" she said amidst tears "she's - she's dead"

Immediately I heard her say that my head start spinning, everything is suddenly getting blurry and fuzzy, I look at May who has tears rolling down her eyes, i shake my head in disbelief "no, no-no she can't -" And everything goes black as I loose consciousness.
