Yoan Roturier's Diary: A Webnovel Author Journey

This is a diary about self-discovery as I tread on the long and tedious path of being an author, yearning to reach the top. It may sound like an autobiography, but it's just a big pile of thoughts, really. Those words will be the records of my story, my struggle, my journey as I try to realize a dream.

Preface

So that you may know what this little unexpected addition to my library already filled with unfinished stories is about, I wanted to write a little preface.

I do not intend for this diary to become a reference of sorts or even a popular novel. It's not even a novel, even if it's tagged as one. If I'm offered a contract for it—which is unlikely, but with Webnovel you never know—I will decline it.

It'll remain a free-to-read diary.

If you read this Webnovel, don't you dare send me a contract! I'll print it just to shred it to pieces before burning it and turn its ashes into ice cubes.

*Cough*

Although this reaching the top power ranking would be... intriguing, it would also be very disturbing as I'll start doubting my abilities to tell interesting fantasy stories.

Why am I doing this then?

The reason is simple: because I want to and because now I can.

I've long felt the need to record all my thoughts, my findings on what it is to become an author and suppressed it until now for the lack of words. After hundreds of thousands of written words in a language that isn't my own, I think I've gained a more or less decent enough writing ability to express my thoughts accordingly.

By no means will it be an autobiography.

Too boring to write about, I'm no web novel protagonist and my life isn't entertaining enough for me to actually enjoy writing about it.

Here you will find short passages, records of my struggle sometimes against sometimes along with the flow of society as a normal person.

While it won't be one of my fantasy stories, I hope it will prove useful to some of you. Not necessarily only for aspiring authors—I'm not exactly the picture of a successful author anyway—but as people who also strive to accomplish something in their lives, be it tiny as an ant or as tall as the Eiffel Tower.

I strongly encourage debates, but not compel, in the comment sections about the statements I will make, as long as we strictly keep those as debates.

One should not step over another's beliefs.

We can argue, exchange our ideas, try to convince others into believing in what we believe, but we should not discredit them or condemn them because we think they are in the wrong.

In doing so, we would already be in the wrong ourselves.

"Freedom of thought" is a right everyone has and always had. There might have been physical shackles in the History of Humanity, but humans have yet to create such atrocity as mental shackles. Even brainwashing isn't exactly control over one's thoughts, but manipulation. (That is also a point we can debate on.)

As I previously stated, I only plan on writing about my thoughts, my beliefs. I might be wrong or right or partially wrong or partially right. That's why I encourage debates.

I'm only a human, I do not possess absolute knowledge.

Because I don't know what will be in this diary, I can only take a few guesses, which are the followings:

- The difficulties I encounter as an Author.

- How real-life impacts my writing.

- Why being a web novel author is such a pain in the ass while being so gratifying.

- Stuff like that.

Since I care little about having a real outline for a story to flow nicely this time around, I can't say much more than that about what it'll contain.

After all, what is a journey if not the discovery of the unknown?

Read you guys later.
