CHAPTER THIRTY NINE

JAMIE'S POV

Logan! OMG! I fell asleep. Reaching for my phone, which isn't there, but there's a log in it's place.

"Move I want my phone" I tell my sister, trying to shove her aside. Feeling an instant pain in my back. "Ouch" I wince in pain.

Stirring up quickly, "Jamie, you okay" she asks with concern, looking into my face for any signs of pain and discomfort.

"I'll be fine" I said, reassuring her. "What time is it?" I asked, noticing light through the blinds.

"Morning" she said, throwing herself backwards on the bed, which she has been sharing with me since I released myself from the hospital.

Slapping her arm, "I know that, Einstein" I retorted, annoyed that I fell asleep, when I was suppose to wait for Logan, to talk, all night long.

"Ahh, where's my phone?" I scream.

"I don't know, she mutters, getting of the bed, searching for the phone, which was nowhere in sight.

"Lend me yours" I demanded.

"Thank God Logan will be home soon , your bossiness is really annoying" she complains, handing over her phone.

Being her guardian, I'm privy to her password, so I quickly unlocked her phone, dialing Justin's number.

There was no answer, so I redialled once again then again. Still ringing through to voice mail.

"Do you know if anyone went to the hospital yet?" I asked Jess, looking at the time on her phone.

Nine forty five! "it's late, help me to the bathroom please" I ask her "or call Jer" I suggests.

"I'll help you, but please be careful" she admonishes me.

Nodding, she starts helping me up when someone knocks on the door.

"It's open," Jess shouts, coming around the bed to help me.

Jer walk in calmly, but his expression changes to worry immediately, "Jamie,. seriously?" he asks seeing Jess about to help me to the bathroom.

"Jer, it's embarrassing to be asking my brother to take me to the bathroom all the time" I confess.

Shaking his head, "You know that hurts, right?" he asks, lifting me up bridal style.

"Jerome put me down this instant" I demanded, flinging my legs upwards and downwards.

"This is safer and I will return after you and Jess finishes in here" Jer says, putting me down on a chair, conveniently placed in front of the sink to brush my teeth and another chair has been placed in the shower, although they preferred to bathe me on the bed.

It takes me much longer in the bathroom these days and I'm never alone in the toilet.

I hate my life right now, but I love my baby and I hope she appreciates my sacrifice when she grows up, I mused.

Jess helped me wash my hair, even through I'm capable, I am happy for the pampering I get these days.

Logan doesn't know about the pregnancy and about Stanley. My eyes watered at the thought of Stanley, grandfather's chauffeur and over the last few years, his and Logan's trusted friend.

His wife, moved in with us, not as a maid but a family member who refuses to sit aside and be served. She still helps in the kitchen to keep her mind occupied.

It hurts and I don't know what Justin said to Logan so far, but I know his parents will update him on what he needs to know.

How would Logan react to my pregnancy and me choosing to have my baby instead of a surgery that could cripple me for the rest of my life.

I made up my mind a long time ago, not to be a burden on him and if the surgery is not successful, I will walk away.

One thing I learned during the first few days I was married, is that my husband is a very passionate man and I will never stand in the way of his needs.

"Jamie,.Logan's fine, why are you crying?" Jess asks, looking at me in the mirror, as a maid change the bed sheets.

I can't tell her my secret plans, because she will repeat it to everyone. This is something I'll deal with on my own.

I hope it never comes to that though. Stretching out my hand, "can you lend me your phone again" I ask Jess.

Taking her phone, I redialled Justin who still doesn't answer.

"Lifting my eyes upwards to Jess's, " do you think something happened?" I asked nervously.

Smiling, Jess leans down and hugs me,."Logan's awake so that's the start of good things. You need to stop worrying " Jess admonishes me.

The maid finishes and with a soft smile, "would you like me to bring you breakfast now?" she asks kindly.

I look to Jess who still hasn't had breakfast, "uh, can you ask my brother, Jer to come and help me down please?" I requested.

The maid blushes at the mention of Jer's name. I looked to Jess who starts giggling.

"Yes ma'am" she says, walking out, with the dirty laundry in her hands.

"Oh no, not ma'am, Jamie please" I instructed her, with a soft laugh.

Jer returns a few minutes after the maid left, helping me down the stairs, with Jess following behind us. He took me to the dining room and left me alone, waiting to be served breakfast, because Jess returned upstairs for her phone charger.

I heard raised voices coming from the sitting room. I immediately stood up nervous because it always scare me when they raise their voices but whenever I show up, the conversation would change and they would simmer down. They are clearly hiding something from me.

Grandfather moved in immediately after I came from the hospital or maybe it was before but I cannot understand how he left grandmother Mel on her own.

Deciding to eavesdrop, I slowly sneaked along the walls of the dining room leading to the sitting room.

"I don't want my son going down this path again!" I heard my mother-in-law shout!
