Honestly, whilst the Bank of XP is a purely for self profit organization, many of the actions taken indirectly benefit the majority. Do you know how absurdly overpopulated Earth's ghost faction would be if the Bank didn't regularly go around harvesting spirits?
The problem was so bad, as soon as you died, you'd be crushed and pushed around by endless waves of spirits for eternity.
