Wolfsbane (Part II)

"Please don't run," Maugrim half hardly begged. "We're very tired. We'd prefer to kill you quikly." The wolf circle the three as they prepare for a fight. Margie, out of the corner of her eye sees the horn and prepares to make a run for hit. The canines attempt to lunge at her but are blocked by Magic from the two Aes Sedai and a towel thrown at one of them, giving Margie the opportunity to blow the horn.

As Noctis and Aslan walk down the hill, with Arena floating close by the human, a horn blast shakes the air.

"That horn…" in a low voice; so low as to be almost a purr, if it is not disrespectful to think of a lion purring. "You're friends need you."

Noctis freezes from a moment as he sees a battle between himself and a wolf. He is holding Arena's Blade, attempting to strike down his foe. However, the wolf gets him first and pounces the True King, sinking his teeth into his neck, ripping out flesh as blood drips from the maw. Aslan and Arena look calmly at him yet concerned for him, waiting from him. Noctis clenches his teeth before taking off down the hill with Arena in pursuit and Aslan not far behind.

Elly, Margie, and Moraine are in a tree, trying to get the two wolves away from them. Maugrim and Vardan snap at them, with a piece of Moiraine's robe hanging from Maugrim's teeth. Noctis rushes in, the Blade of the Mystic in hand. Maugrim sound to see their new prey and snarls in delight. Aslan and his men with Citan, Lan, Bart, and Eugene arrive at the scene. Vardan, seeing the numbers, attempts to back away but Aslan pins the second wolf to the ground.

"Give it up boy." Maugrim snarls. "We both know you haven't got it in you."

Noctis grasps the Blade of the Mystic and Oreius, Lan, Citan, Bart, and Eugene begin to draw their weapons and Aeena goes in to help before all are stopped by a growl from Aslan.

"Stay back." The King of Beasts told them. "This is Noctis's battle."

"Noctis!" Elly called out to him.

Kwisatz Haderach.

He saw it again. The flames, the bloodied hand grasping the bloodied crysknife. And the voice. Time seemed to slow down for him. The only thing mattering to him was him, the sword of his ancestor in his grasp, and the bloodthirsty wolf in front of him. The voices of his friends, even Arena, not reaching him.

Kwisatz Haderach.

"You should have killed me when you had the chance!" Maugrim snaps his jaw.

Climb up. Rise.

With his grip on his sword tightened, Noctis closes his eye then reopens them to reveals them to no longer be emeralds encasing gold but deep blue-within-blue. The Eyes of Ibad. The eyes of the Fremen. Everyone present, including Aslan and even the wolves, are in awe. But that quick dissipates when Maugrim lets out a series of loud snarls and growls at the human.

Maugrim leaps onto Noctis as he readies his blade and falls upon the True King.

"Noctis!"

They roll on the ground and lie still, leaving everyone staring at the scene before them. Suddenly, Noctis shoves Maugrim off of him. The wolf flops over, dead with the Blade of the Mystic sticking out from his ribs. Aslan lets go of Vardan and the other wolf flees into the forest.

"Follow him! He will lead you to his master." Aslan says, printing Oreius to gallop off, followed by a squad of the swiftest creatures. He turns his attention back to Noctis, who had removed the bloody Blade of the Mystic from Maugrim's corpse. "Noctis. Clean you sword. Don't dematerialize it."

Noctis looks at the dripping sword, all smeared with wolf hair and blood and quickly wipes it off on the grass.

"Now kneel."

Noctis does as he's told, kneeling on one knee in front of the great lion and the Blade of the Mystic held in both hands and in the ground to support himself. Aslan then rests his head upon both of his shoulders, the feeling of Aslan's fur, whiskers and mane gave Noctis a strange sense of warmth and comfort. Finally his paw rested atop his head.

"Rise, Sir Noctis Wolfsbane," Aslan declared. "Knight of Narnia, and King of Lucis."
