Chapter 66: The Ancient Tomb
As Lin Langtian exited the Symbol Master Tower, he was greeted by a crowd of people standing like statues. All eyes turned toward him with expressions of utter shock.
"President Lin Mo, we won, didn't we?" he asked, raising his eyebrows slightly as he noticed their stunned gazes. He then stepped forward with a calm confidence.
"You reached the ninth floor. Of course, it's a victory for our Lin City Symbol Master Guild. I never expected that our clan's top genius would also be a remarkable Symbol Master!" Lin Mo couldn't help the slight tremor in his voice. To master both Yuan Power and spiritual energy, each at such an advanced level... just what kind of prodigy had their Lin Clan produced?
"By the way, others who have reached the ninth floor in the past barely stayed there before coming back down. You, however, were up there for quite a while—did you find anything?" Lin Mo asked as he struggled to keep his voice steady. Even the other Symbol Masters from Lin City turned their attention to Lin Langtian, eager to hear about any rewards he might have discovered on the ninth floor.
Lin Langtian blinked, recalling the Symbol Master's comment that others barely stayed on the ninth floor. So, they either hadn't discovered the Stasis Rune Array or simply couldn't master it, he realized. This would explain why such a powerful skill hadn't become widely known—it required extremely high aptitude.
"There was a 'divine' level spirit skill on the ninth floor," Lin Langtian replied, his eyes flickering slightly as he feigned regret. "But it was too challenging to master, so after practicing for ten days, I had to give up." He sighed and shook his head, hiding the fact that he'd fully acquired the Stasis Rune Array. After all, the array's power lay in its ability to catch enemies off guard, so the fewer who knew about it, the better.
"A divine-level spirit skill—what a pity…" remarked one middle-aged Symbol Master with a wry smile, and others nodded in agreement. Skills of this caliber hadn't been seen in the Great Yan Dynasty for centuries. They were unaware that Lin Langtian had already unlocked its secrets.
However, Jin Xing, standing nearby, gave Lin Langtian a curious look, a glimmer of doubt in her eyes. She suspected that, difficult as it might be, such a skill wouldn't likely be beyond Lin Langtian's reach.
"Prince Huang Pu, this duel's outcome is clear for all to see. With this victory, Lin City Symbol Master Guild has won three matches in a row. According to the duel's rules, the Symbol Master Tower should now belong to Lin City Symbol Master Guild," Lin Mo said with a slight smile, glancing at Huang Pu Nuo.
Seeing the pride on Lin Mo's face, Huang Pu Nuo's expression darkened. The Symbol Master Tower was extremely valuable to any city, especially one as unique as this tower in the Great Yan Dynasty. But with Lin City backed by the powerful Lin Clan, Huang Pu Nuo knew he couldn't afford to defy the rules.
With an icy glare at Lin Langtian, Huang Pu Nuo muttered, "This time, fortune is on your side. The Symbol Master Tower will be held in Lin City for the next three years, but don't think we won't win it back then!" With that, he turned and, with a wave of his hand, led the Symbol Masters from Huang Pu City away.
As they departed, Huang Pu Yun glanced back at Lin Langtian with a mixture of resentment and fear. An exceptional Symbol Master and a Yuan Power prodigy—Lin Langtian was not someone he could afford to cross.
Once the Huang Pu City Symbol Masters were gone, the Lin City Symbol Masters burst into cheers, their gazes filled with admiration for Lin Langtian. It was because of him that they'd managed to secure the Symbol Master Tower.
"Well done, Langtian," Lin Mo said, clearly in high spirits. "Though you may not have mastered the ninth floor's reward, don't worry. When we return, I'll speak to the clan leader to ensure you receive a suitable reward."
"It's my duty to serve the clan; I don't seek rewards," Lin Langtian replied with a smile, satisfied with the Stasis Rune Array and the Spirit Map. Unaware of this, Lin Mo gave him a pleased pat on the shoulder.
As Lin Mo approached the Symbol Master Tower, a look of intense focus appeared in his eyes. Soon, his expression grew serious, and with a surge of spirit energy, he levitated into the air above the tower.
"Oh, he's preparing to relocate the tower," Lin Langtian murmured. As a high-level Symbol Master, only Lin Mo possessed the power needed to transport such a massive structure from Huang Pu City back to Lin City.
In mid-air, Lin Mo fixed his gaze on the tower below and quickly formed a series of hand signs. With a commanding shout, a surge of spirit energy erupted around the Symbol Master Tower, wrapping around it in a powerful, swirling force.
Under this force, the ground shook, and with a mighty rumble, the Symbol Master Tower rose from its foundation! The massive structure gradually lifted off, shrinking in size until it was small enough to fit in the palm of Lin Mo's hand.
"Amazing," Lin Langtian murmured, watching as the tower transformed.
"So, Brother Langtian, it turns out you're also a talented Symbol Master…" said a gentle voice behind him. Lin Langtian turned to see Huang Pu Jing and Qing Zhu approaching.
"Oh, it's Miss Huang Pu and Miss Qing Zhu," he replied with a polite smile, nodding at the two young women.
Huang Pu Jing's gaze lingered on him, her slender brows knitting together in puzzlement. He seemed even more mysterious than before.
"Did you hear about the big news in the Tian Du District while you were in the tower?" she asked, giving him a meaningful look.
"What happened?" Lin Langtian asked, a hint of curiosity in his eyes.
Huang Pu Jing's lips curved slightly, and with an air of mystery, she replied, "There's a mountain range called Tianyan Ridge. Word has it that an ancient tomb has been discovered there."
"A tomb? In the Tianyan Ridge? Whose is it?" Lin Langtian asked, feigning interest, though he already had an idea.
With a sly smile, Huang Pu Jing leaned closer and said, "They say it's the tomb of a Nirvana-stage master…"
