Book 4 - Schemer of the Scalding Sands: Chapter 6; A Desert Paradise

The screen turns on as the chapter title plays "Chapter - 6; A Desert Paradise".

They're still in the kitchen and had just finished cooking as Jamil stated "That should do it." Before telling the Scarabia students "All right, boys, get this to the dorm!" The students shouted "Yes, sir!" in response before getting back to work as they sorted the food out to bring back to their dorm.

Then after a second or two of watching the Scarabia students Grim turned to Jamil and asked him "So, why're you guys stayin' on campus over winter break?" Jamil looks pensive as he says "Well…"

A random pink haired student who overheard dropped what they were holding at that question, before immediately bending down to pick it back up.

Jamil looked over at the student before looking back at the Ramshackle duo as he saw it was mostly just some kitchen utensils.

Jamil then continued what he was saying before the student dropped anything "It's a bit of a long story."

Yuu immediately thinks 'I don't like where this is going…!' so she forced a smile as she just told Jamil "In that case, forget we asked!"

A student walking by whispered "It was the housewarden's orders. Everybody in Scarabia has to stay…" Another adds on, whispering "We can't go home even if we want to." Jamil made a bit of a shushing sound towards the two students as he told them "Don't go into it. We brought this on ourselves as it is."

Jamil then seemed to have a total mood shift as he told everyone rather chipper "Now, let's get this food back to the dorm before it gets cold."

He then looked back at the Ramshackle duo and informed them "Scarabia's got the warmth of summer year-round. I think you'll enjoy a taste of the tropics there."

Grim cheered at that "Woo-hoo! Now that's what I call paradise! C'mon, Yuu!" as he tried to pull her along.

But Yuu told him "Whoa, Grim, slow down!" before crossing her arms and frowning as she narrows her eyes and states towards Jamil mostly "Nothing on this campus comes without a catch." Jamil simply stated back "I'm sure the housewarden will be delighted to have you as visitors."

Jamil's magical pen then admits a slight glow as his pupils turn into hypnotizing circles. He then asked Yuu again "Would you care to come over?" Yuu nods and answers "Certainly." almost robotically.

Jamil's pupils turn back to normal and his magical pen stops glowing as he smirks and tells her "What a pleasure it is to know you'll be coming to see us, Yuu."

Yuu is massively confused and shakes her head but Jamil doesn't give her any recovery time or anything as he then starts to walk off before stating "Now then, Scarabia awaits."

The students walk over to the hall of mirrors, where Yuu gets to see the Scarabia mirror for the first time.

The mirror is among the simpler ones, with a design on the wall then the mirror. There is a border around the main part where there is a snake, or to be more exact a king cobra going around the main mirror border. The mirror is the widest at the bottom before it closes in for a little bit then rounds off into a point, where a Scarabia dorm logo is put. Then hanging off of the two side walls are lanterns that admit some red light. Then on the floor in front of the mirror are two Arabic style towers, in a similar design as the mirror's structure. Then there were multiple mini piles of sand just around and on the floor. The floor was red in color with an orange carpet for a pathway.

Yuu walked through it alongside Grim and the other Scarabia students.

Once inside the first thing that caught her eye was the huge almost palace, it also had a much more Arabic style to it. Having those massive dome roofs and extravagant archways and shapes. She then noticed that the place was almost walled off with some massive sand dunes outside of it, so it was very clear that this entire dorm was placed in a desert. There was a rather large fountain in front of it. Then it seemed like the floor went down an entire level on both sides, where there was another building, on both sides, in the same type of architecture although on a simpler level. Then with the space between that and the pathway on the normal level there were a couple of bushes and palm trees growing. Yuu then took into account where they were standing more. It was all in the same style, except this place seemed to be a lot more open with very little walls. In front of her she could see some of the pillars that held this place up.

It was then that she spotted the Scarabia dorm logo in its completed form. It was a rectangle with a pointed edge for the banner it was on. On the bottom pointed edge of the banner there was a red tassel hanging off of it. There was a gray border then had a thin white line around that before a yellow center.

Now onto the actual emblem. In the center there was a red circle with what looked to be a mini version of what was essentially the palace in this dorm on the inside with a much more orange or yellow hue to it. Then at the top there was a snake or once again rather a king cobra biting it, while being coiled around it. The snake's back was entirely black with a red underside. Then around it's eyes and around the edge of its open hood. The snake's eyes were red. Then on its forehead was what looked like a red gem with an also red feather coming out of the top of it.

This all happened very quickly though as Grim also finished his quick scan of the place before shouting "So this is Scarbia Dorm! It really is sweltering like it's summer over here!"

Jamil then comments "I'm sure it's a welcome reprieve from the cold." Before beckoning them along "Come, this way."

The group then end up in the Scarabia dorm lounge.

Jamil then claps twice as all of the other students that were resting there turned their heads over to Jamil. Jamil then instructed them "Boys, we have guests! Play some music to make them feel at home."

The students then all got up to do something or another, some starting the music while others went to help their fellow dormmates with the food.

Grim cheerfully laughed before cheering "When you get as famous as us, I guess people fall over themselves to get in your good graces."

Once the students had finished setting up the food Jamil tells them "Please, go on Eat up while it's hot." Grim essentially dives at the food as he shouts "Don't mind if I do!" before starting to eat right away.

Grim compliments the food and goes on another one of his flavor rants, saying "This's good stuff! It's got a rich flavor, with a powerful kick of heat… This veggie stir-fry with crunchy nuts is great. Oh, and so are these fried dough ball things!"

Jamil then looks over at Yuu as he tells her "We have meat dishes and soup as well. Please, help yourselves; there's more where that came from."

Yuu then sits down, slightly hesitantly, to eat as well. Meanwhile Grim continues to chow down on the food. Grim then tells Yuu "Y'know, with a veritable buffet like this in front of us, this really IS paradise!"

Just then Kalim walks up to them asking "What is all this commotion?" Although he is also in his dorm uniform now.

As the housewarden, Kalim's dorm uniform somewhat differs from the rest of the Scarabia students, the most distinguishing features being his longer jacket and excess of gold jewelry. Kalim also wears dark-red eyeliner along with his regular makeup while in his dorm uniform. Kalim's jacket reaches below his knees in length. The jacket has a red underlining, wavy gold stripes on the side, gold trim, and a red sailor-like collar with a black wavy stripe along the sides. Kalim also chooses to wear two tank tops as his undershirts. One tank top is off-white, while the larger one underneath is marron. Instead of wearing the yellow belt around his waist like usual, Kalim wears his over one shoulder, and leaves the long end hanging down to his ankles. The belt has a silver buckle, and along with black stripes, has the word 'Scarabia' repeatedly printed on it. On both ends of the belt are small designs resembling a snake's head and tail. His black parachute pants have a red fire design near the bottom. Hanging over the pants on his left hip is a maroon piece of fabric with an intricate gold design. The black sneaker-sandals have gold plating near the toe, and a large golden scarab in the center. The uniform includes a few golden accessories, including a collar necklace, a bracelet, and a shoulder cuff worn on the right shoulder, shaped like a snake. Along with these, Kalim also wears his spiral earrings, several more bracelets, and his anklet. Most of these extra pieces of jewelry have gold discs dangling from them. Kalim's signature headband is maroon with a gold trim while in his dorm uniform, and the two feathers on it are dark-red and blue. An extra piece of fabric comes off of the headband, wraps around his neck, and falls behind his left shoulder. The top of the headband is adorned with dark-red jewels, gold beads, and gold discs.

Once he's both seen and heard the students shout "H-Housewarden!" nervously. Meanwhile Jamil just states "Ah. Kalim."

The screen then fades to black as "To be continued" plays before fully turning off.
