Book 4 - Schemer of the Scalding Sands: Chapter 22; Unwanted Additions

The screen turns on as the next chapter title plays "Chapter - 22; Unwanted Additions".

It's the next morning, and it shows the Scarabia students from last night having a conversation with each other, in front of the main dorm fountain.

Student A with tan hair says "I still can't believe the Ramshackle pair fled to Octavinelle." Student B with purple-ish hair then adds on "And they stole the magic carpet. If the housewarden were to find out about this…"

Student B's voice trailed off for a second before he asked frustrated and worried "Rrgh, what do we do?!" Student A says "I think we'd better take this to Vice Housewarden Jamil to start with."

Just then footsteps are heard coming closer.

The students look in the direction of the footsteps only to see it's the Octavinelle trio and the Ramshackle duo. Azul greets them before asking "Hello, gentlemen. Mind if we pop by?" Floyd then complains "Good GRAVY, it's hot here! Feels like the middle of summer!"

This greatly surprises the two students.

Student A exclaims "You're the Octavinelle guys who gave us a thrashing last night!" Student B then asks "What do you want with Scarabia?"

Azul put his arms out on either side before apologizing, "Permit me to apologize for what transpired last evening. It looked as though you were bullying defenseless animals. I stood up for them on the spot, out of the goodness of my heart." Azul pauses as he seems to glare at the Ramshackle duo before continuing "But after I heard their story… It became clear to me that the two Ramshackle residents were thieves who had made off with Scarbia's magic carpet."

Azul then turned back at the two Scarabia students with a calm smile "Once I realized my mistake, I took personal responsibility for the matter. I apprehended the criminals… And I came here to return the magic carpet to its rightful owners."

Grim crossed his arms, pouting, before he complained "Rgh…! It ain't fair I tell ya…!" The carpet then seems to nod in its own right.

Student A was shocked at the turn of events and what had just happened so he stuttered out "W-well, uh…" Student B was also conflicted and said "Thank you for the…help?"

Just then more footsteps are heard as Jamil walks up to the group, only seeing the two Scarabia students as he just says "Guys. It's about time for morning training. If you're late, Kalim will–" Before he noticed the others there and took a step back in surprise as he made a "GH?!" noise.

Azul greets Jamil with a smile, saying "Why, Jamil! Hello there. How are you?"

Jamil is confused and cautious as he asks "Azul Ashengrotto…and the Leech twins as well? What are you doing here?"

Jade states "Our home isn't the most hospitable place in the wintertime." Floyd then finishes Jade's statement "So we spend our holidays in the dorm!" before laughing.

Jamil was clearly upset, as he ment in Scarabia not in the school, so he essentially stuttered out "Wh… What?"

Azul then put a hand over the tops of his eyes, as to block them from some of the sun, as he scanned the surroundings before asking Jamil "By the way, where might Kalim be? I'm here to return his magic carpet to him." Jamil seemed to search for a response "Er, ah…" Before he thought of an answer and replied "If you need to deliver something, I'll take it to him."

Azul put a hand over where a human heart would be at least, as he's an octopus which the normal versions have three hearts, as he counters "Oh, but I insist! This magic carpet is a legendary artifact on par with national treasures. If it were discovered to be damaged later, Octavinelle would be held liable. We can't have that, now, can we? I would prefer to hand it to Kalim in person and have him assess its condition firsthand."

Jamil tells Azul "Kalim wouldn't care even if it was damaged. Let me take it off your hands, okay?"

Azul then states "Worry not – I won't even ask for my standard twenty percent finder's fee!" Jade adds on to their reasons saying "Consider that our way of apologizing for our uncouth behavior towards Scarbia last night." Floyd then says "We also brought a seafood pizza as a little present. You wouldn't want it to get cold, wouldja?"

Azul pushes up his glasses as he further reinforces "The point is, I would MUCH prefer to deliver it in person. He's awake by now, I trust?" Jamil closes his eyes, most likely in frustration, as he tells them "No, really, he's not feeling up for any–"

But then as he opened his eyes again he saw that Azul was already walking away and exclaimed "Hey! You can't just barrage in, Azul!" before chasing after him.

Jade then turns to the Ramshackle duo only, as Azul had grabbed the carpet before leaving, and asks "Shall we, Yuu?" Floyd then starts walking as he tells them "You'd better keep up~"

Yuu answers "You bet!" to Floyd, but first takes a moment of appreciation and says to Grim "This is so much nicer when I'm not on the receiving end of it!"

She then pulls Grim with her as he still complains "Yeesh, these Octavinelle guys are so pushy when they wanna be…" Clearly just having bad memories of his time as an anemone.

The screen then fades to black as "To be continued" plays before fully turning off.
