Book 3 - The Merchant from the Depths: Chapter 23; A Minor Oversight

The screen turns on as the chapter title plays "Chapter - 23; A Minor Oversight".

Jack huffed as he caught his breath before shouting "Argh… I never knew housewardens were this powerful!"

Azul proudly tells them "Let that be a lesson to you. NEVER try to steal my contracts again." Floyd asked them "Shouldn't you guys be hustling over to the Atlantica Memorial Museum?"

Jade has a small wicked smile on as he states "Your deadline is sunset tomorrow. The clock is ticking, you know." Floyd then rather happily exclaimed "Then again, after we're done workin' you over, you'll be spending to rest of that time passed out in the nurse's office!~"

Deuce shouts "They're about to attack again!"

Ace looked around as he cursed "Crud! Summoning magic ain't my strongest suit, but…" he then fired off Deuce's spell "I summon thee, cauldron!" Deuce yells at him "Hey! Don't crib my magic!"

But Floyd only messes with them as he shouts "Didn't we go over this yesterday? You'll never touch me with that!" Before he used his signature spell/unique magic to make sure the cauldron didn't hit them "Bind the Heart!~"

This makes the cauldron go flying and hit the vault door.

Which makes Azul yell at Floyd scolding him "Floyd! Watch where you're directing that spell! You've aimed right for the vault, you fool!" But Floyd just tells Azul "Whoopsie-daisy. Sorry about that.~"

Azul then spots a small spot where the cauldron hit the vault which makes him run over to it shouting "No…! The door's damaged! The dial and hinges aren't shot, are they?!" Before frantically checking, then sighing in relief before saying "Okay, good."

He then shouts at Floyd some more "How many times have I told you not to use your signature spell/unique magic so carelessly?! What will it take to get it through your head?!" scolding him. Floyd almost seemed to pout a little as he argued back "I said I was sorry, okay? You don't gotta get all bent outta shape over one little ding."

The first-years look confused at the argument going on before them between Azul and one of his right hand men while the other seemed to just be watching them.

Azul shouts back at Floyd "You'd have me save my protestations for when it's completely demolished, then?!"

Jade then physically steps in between the two as he tells them "Okay, you two, settle down. Otherwise…" He seemed to pause for a second before continuing "...they'll get away."

Both Azul and Floyd exclaim "Huh?!" at that.

Grim then shouts "Now's our chance! So long, suckers!"

As all of the first-years start to book it out of the VIP room and out of Octavinelle dorm.

Azul shouts "Hey, wait! Jade! Floyd! After them!"

But Floyd lazily tells him "Gettin' yelled at kinda harshed my vibe."

This makes Azul shout at him again "Is that really relevant right now? How can you let moods dictate your behavior so much?!"

But Floyd only shoots a question back at him "What about you, Azul? What're you gettin' all snappy for? So what if the vault gets busted? The contract scrolls are unbreakable, right?"

Azul pushes his glasses up as he shouts back "Do you expect me to walk around carrying a whole bundle of contracts everywhere I go?!"

He then seems to come back to his calmer self as he sighs before saying "Oh dear. That was careless of me. I let Floyd derail me entirely again. Gracious."

He then turns to Jade and tells him "Jade, continue keeping an eye on them…and look after Floyd, while you're at it." Jade answers "Understood, sir."

Floyd then lazily rubs the back of his head as he states "Maaan, this stinks. I think I'ma cut class this afternoon and catch a nap somewhere." Jade seems to fondly shake his head as he sighs before saying "Here we go again…"

It then cuts over to the hall of mirrors as the first-year group run out of the Octavinelle dorm mirror before catching their breath.

Deuce sighs in relief once he saw no one was chasing after them before saying "I was scared stiff there."

Ace also complains "We wouldn't be in this mess if you weren't such a huge target, Jack." Jack offendly shouts at him "Wh-hey! I just work out more than you guys! What's wrong with that?! Besides, wolves are naturally large creatures!"

But Deuce is among the few actually thinking about their predicament as he states "Well, we can't tear the contracts up. We can't even touch them as things stand."

Jack rubs the back of his head as he tells them "I think we'd better call it a day."

Yuu nods as she looks up and sees the sun had already started on its descent.

Grim complains "We wasted a whole day, and for what? Nothin'." Ace also complains again "Is there really a way to shred those dumb things?"

Yuu's mind kept going back to that fight between Azul and Floyd but she just couldn't figure out why as she said "Something's nagging at me."

But then she's suddenly pulled into the flat shadowy dusty gray-purple background, although there is some black liquid still in a small puddle on the ground due to last time as three more drops fall to join it and make the puddle bigger.

When she came to again, she was alone and the sun was a lot farther down then before shaking her head as she set off walking.

The screen then faded to black as "To be continued" played before fully turning off.
