Side Story 01 - Give me a name

It happened before I returned to the territory and after I recovered from the poisoning.

I was in my new territory checking on supervising the extermination of magical beasts and any other harmful nuisances.

"Ahhh~ life when you don't work and they do everything for you is beautiful."

I was rejoicing in my own ego drinking an iced tea, sitting on the top of my new ship watching those lizards being annihilated by the robots created by this guy, although he calls them [automatons without intelligent processor], since the name is so long I decided to call them robots.

No doubt life is good.

As I was taking small sips and humming, this sphere appeared to my right giving me a slight scare.

"I can tell you're having a good time master..." -said the metallic colored, bright red eyed sphere with noodle arms in pincers.

"Indeed I am, not having to go back to work will be great once we're done."

I said this in a syonic tone as he looked at me intently.

"...Understood."

"Master, I came to disturb you in your very busy task of living as a parasite to ask you something."

Despite being its lord and master, this rare sphere annoyed me as if I were an adult indulging a spoiled child.

"May I ask what the problem is?" -I said in a tone irritated by his disrespect.

"You just call me -boy-, or -weird sphere-, and -annoying floating eye- you know, I have a name and it really annoys me when you call me by your childish nicknames, so I would appreciate it if you wouldn't."

Waah- got annoyed the weird thing certainly has a name, but it's fucking long and I won't dare pronounce it since it's alphanumeric in nature and has thirty letters in the same sentence, so no thanks.

That's where I came up with an idea, give it a new name of its own.

"Hey, how about I give you a new name?"

I asked confidently only to be stomped on.

"I refuse, I already have a name and it's registered on this ship, if I change it I'll have to reprogram the system to enter the admin's new name."

He really gets on my nerves this guy.

"I'm not talking about that, I'm talking about giving you a name that will be easy for me to call you, you won't have to change anything, it will just be a name that you will use for me to call you, now do you understand?"

I had to explain it to her like this so that this annoying sphere would understand me.

"I understand. That being so, I have no objection, what name do you come up with master?"

"Umm... what do you think, Laplace!" -I said enthusiastically.

"Denied." -to be denied.

"Okay, how about... Garm¡" -I replied confidently.

"Rejected." -to be mistreated.

This kid is too picky to have a code as a name.

"Ok, I got it this time, a great name for you! That's it! Baharuth."

"No way!" -I yelled at myself.

"Please take it seriously will you, I'm sure all those names are just random things you mention and have no meaning whatsoever. Besides, each one is worse than the last."

I swallowed saliva the moment he said all that.

I was never good with names, in fact, I even had a cat in my old life when I was a kid and my parents were still alive, I named him Nix based on the name of the main character of my favorite show which was called [man without action] I loved that show and watched it always without missing a single episode. What good times those were.

"..." -That's where I came up with something.

Cutting out most of the show's name would leave only action.

If I put Nix and action together, I'd get Nixaction.... but it sounds terrible, so let's take away something else.

Nixion. That would be a good name, but for some reason the "n" bothered me so I removed it leaving the rest.

So, it would be left alone.

"Ix-ion. how about [Ixion]?"

"..."

"Ixion..." -Said the sphere quietly.

"Ixion, understood. That will be my name you will use to call me from today on. I like it."

"Well that settles it, I'll call you Ixion from today onwards." -Both the sphere and I were happy with the decision.

(Now it's all settled and to go on loafing.) -I thought.

But then another problem arose.

"May I ask how you came up with that name?" -said the sphere by the name of Ixion.

"I don't think you want to know, it's too personal and too boring." -that's what I said to evade the answer.

"That just makes me more curious. Answer me." -said Ixion demanding.

"I-I don't think you want to know." -I replied a little startled.

"Answer me!!!" -Ixion was coming towards me, demanding an answer.

I ran out of there while being chased by an annoyed Ixion.
