The Black Haired Boy

A young boy with a black hair wakes up in the middle of the woods.

"What just happened?" he exclaims.

He's breathing hard, thankfully it is early in the morning. However, it is extremely cold.

He couldn't even remember his name. Why he's there. The only thing that he knows is that he feels scared. It is as if he should go deeper into the woods, and shouldn't go back to the city.

"Wait….there's a city? right…?" he talks to himself again.

The boy could almost remember vividly that he has never lived in the woods. He gets a spark of memories. Cars on the road. A bunch of people crosses the street. Sounds of people chatting.

Fortunately, he brings himself a backpack. he starts rummaging the inside of his backpack. In there, he could find some biscuits, canned foods, a bottle of water, a rope, some clothes, extra pants, and a knife. However, he couldn't find a single picture, or even identity, or anything that could tell him who he is and why he is in the middle of the woods. It is pretty clear to him that he's running away.

But what is he running away from?

The boy instinctively wakes up from the ground and walks deeper into the woods. He is hoping that he could find a place that is safe enough to settle down. He walks and walks until he finds a cave near a river. The water was clear and he could see his reflection.

He stares at his reflection. He has pairs of sharp black eyes, a pointed nose, and medium pinkish-sized lips, beautiful soft black hair, thick eyebrows. He's certainly sure that he is not ugly, at least from what his eyes tell him.

However, it is something about his face. Although look hauntingly beautiful, below his eyes there are two dark circles and pale looking face. Looks very stressful.

It seems like he is around 16 or 17. He's quite sturdy although he doesn't have a lot of muscles, but he thinks he could start working out. He's quite tall around 175 cm. Nothing is bad about him. In fact, he's quite decent to look at. The only disturbing thing is the dark gloomy solitude aura that surrounds him. Seems like a lonely person.

"What possibly happen to you?" he touches the water and his reflection becomes blurry.

After checking that the animals around are drinking the water. The boy starts to drink the water in the river. It is good. Enough to fulfill his thirst. He then also fills in his bottle.

The boy begins to get used to living in the woods. Sometimes he could get back several of his losing memories. Like how warm his house is. How happy he was in his memories. He had friends, though he couldn't remember their faces.

The boy is calculating any possibilities about why he is in the woods by himself. Could it be that it is the end of the world? a war? or plague? Why is he surviving? It keeps on rolling on his head. Every time he tries to think, his stomach will rumble. It is finally time to hunt again.

There is not much variety of food that he could choose from in the woods. He probably just try to catch birds. A lot of frogs, they are pretty good. There are some fish too in the river. The boy doesn't have many preferences. Anything he could find he eats. He really wants to eat the plants but realizes he does not know much about poisonous plants.

Every day, all he thinks about is just-food. Besides that, just loneliness creeping inside him. Sometimes he talks to himself. He couldn't help it. After several days of staying in the same place. He is bored. He decides to continue to walk again.

Walking in the morning in the woods is nice. It is not scary compared to the night he has to endure. However, the boy could hear that there is something also walking toward him. The boy's heart beating fast. Could it be a monster? or a tiger? it's possible anyway he's in the woods. He finally sees its form. It looks like a human. it runs to hide behind the trees. Looks as scared as he.

"Hello…?sh…show yourself or I am going to hurt you!" The boy shouts. He pulls out his knife.

The thing shows itself in front of him.

The boy's eyes widened.

It is a girl. Her small hands are trembling.

"Put down your knife, or I'll stab you with my knife." She speaks in a soft voice with determination in it.

"I'm not even lying! put down your knife." Now her voice is way firmer than before.

The boy is too stunned to say anything. He puts his knife down. He never sees another human besides himself. Strangely enough, he feels good knowing that he's not the last person to survive. The boy stares at the girl intensely. He thinks to himself that maybe the girl could be a good companion for him.

The girl herself looks skinny. Her eyes are blue. She has fair skin and thin lips. her hair looks like the sun shining. She looks brave even though she looks smaller compared to the boy. Her height is around 163 cm. She's not the type that is extremely beautiful but she looks sweet and cute according to the boy.

"Stop staring at me, you creep me out," the girl says to the boy.

"I..I apologize, it's just I never see another person beside me, are you alone?" The boy asks carefully.

"And why would that matter to you? of course I won't tell you that, it's dangerous and we're in the middle of the woods."

"I'm just thinking that maybe we could go together,"

"Wow, stop right there, we just met. You could be dangerous, why would I voluntarily go along with you?"

"You know I won't, and it looks like we're almost the same age,"

The girl stares at the boy for a moment.

"Then, first, tell me where you come from and what happened to you?"

"I'm sorry I also don't remember why I am in the middle of the woods, I lost my memories. If anything, could you please tell me what happened?"

"You really don't remember anything that is happening right now?" The girl's eyebrows raise.

"I really don't. I don't even remember my name."

"This is gonna be hard to explain. Maybe you should just forget about everything and start a new life."
