chapter 1

The situation felt tense as I stood there, facing these so-called formidable individuals. "Careful with your words, young lady. We are a really terrifying group, and you definitely can't handle the consequences," one of them sneered. It was the same old provocative mockery I had grown used to, uttered by a bunch of incompetent fools who couldn't even pay their debts on time.

With a wry smile, I shot back, "Well, I need money to survive, so it's either money or you start losing your precious organs." After all, working in this line of business had me dealing with a lot of brash old-timers who seemed to lack even a shred of common sense. I mean, who in their right mind would go around threatening a professional assassin and a well-known merchandise procurer?

As their laughter filled the room, I couldn't help but roll my eyes. "Well, well, look at that little redhead acting all high and mighty when she only knows how to kill from afar," they continued, their mockery intensifying.

I couldn't deny that their words irritated me. Me, a professional assassin? It sure ticked me off, but not enough to kill them off. However, I managed to turn the situation in my favor by securing a hefty amount sqeezed out of their organs it was ten times more than the initial offer that sure had me humming in joy. I couldn't help but hope that their recent hospital visit would help bring them back to their senses.

The next day brought a new set of challenges, and I had my dear cousin Narphy to thank for it. Narphy served as both my cousin and my exclusive secretary,He is the co founder of our merchandise but doesnt want to draw any attention towards himself so he decided to let me be the "lone founder" of our company or guild we could say.

He walked into my office, wearing that familiar mischievous grin, and presented an exciting offer. It was a straightforward job - steal a suitcase from a person.

The client's information read:

Name: Alexander Numph

Age: 34

Date of Birth: 11/10/19XX

Blood type: A+ve

Profession: scientist

Offer amount: $1,000,000

I couldn't help but be drawn to that impressive figure. Who in their right mind would reject an offer with such a hefty sum? However, my joy was short-lived as Narphy unilaterally rejected the offer, claiming it seemed suspicious.

Frustration welled up within me, and I countered, "So what if it's suspicious? At the very least, it's a chance to get our hands on enough money to pay off half of our pending loans. Do you genuinely want to continue living in these dismal conditions?"

Narphy retorted, "But what's the use of getting our hands on $1 million if we aren't even here to enjoy it?"

I couldn't help but mockingly laugh at his words. Did he really think I'd be defeated so easily? In a sharp and angry tone, I asserted, "I don't care about your concerns. Get that client back in here; I'm taking up that offer."

With a solemn nod, Narphy left the room in silence, and within an hour or so, the client was back in our office. True to my words, I accepted the offer. We sealed the agreement, received the down payment, and I immediately set about my regular routine of gathering information on the target.

As I delved into my research, nothing stood out as unusual. Alexander Numph seemed to be a run-of-the-mill scientist, leading a quiet life, and working on seemingly unremarkable inventions.

Determined to get the job done as swiftly as possible, I headed straight to the lab where he worked. However, it didn't take me long to realize that I had made a grave mistake. When I arrived at the lab, I found the scientist trying to make a run for it, as if he had anticipated the possibility of an attack.

His escape attempt was futile. I had the upper hand. With a chuckle, I remarked, "So, this 'old man' thought he could outsmart me and keep the suitcase safe, huh?"

As expected, I managed to get my hands on the coveted suitcase. Yet, my overconfidence had been my downfall. In the midst of it all, a sudden "bang" filled the air, and my vision began to fade. Regret washed over me, knowing that Narphy would never let me live down my lapse in judgment.

As my vision dimmed, I could only hope that his teasing wouldn't haunt me as I descended into unconsciousness, and my consciousness waned away.
